Covoy Logo Out Of La
Wait a minute! It probably IS the same Convoy label, as the Sims Twins disc has got a Los Angeles address! OK, I'll post the clip below, one of my fave deep soul cuts.

Covoy Logo Out Of La
Isn't that Jimmy Preacher Robins? Same Jimmy Robins as "I Can't Please You" etc. Haven't heard the tune but have heard good things about it and remember having a discussion with Christian Hermansson about if it was the same Convoy label as The Sims Twins superb deepie "It's A Sad Thing". Seem to remember that it wasn't and the label designs were completely different. Do you have a sound clip?

80's Soul
Seeing that Newman is on styrene and Star Ville is on vinyl I think I'll stick with my Star Ville copy in any case. Star Ville has got a Chicago, IL address while Newman has got a New York address.

That one is superb! And so is "If You Want My Love" also on Alston. And "Hey There Jim" on Dig.

Favourite Blaxploitation Songs
That's nice! I really want one of those. Is it a Johnny Pate solo 45 or some Four Tops release? Lovely!
-
Favourite Blaxploitation Songs
So DID this get a 7" release somewhere in the world? Jason mentioned a possible Spain issue. Anyone got a label scan? Wouldn't mind a copy.

Hot Box Deejaying
Just remembered that I included that Chuck Cornish tune in one of my long 60s soul MP3-mixes which you can download here: /index.php?showtopic=36120 Apart form the first and last track, it's pretty much all pounding uptempo 60s dancers in the same vein as the above.

Hot Box Deejaying
Superb aggressive piece of New Orleans soul there! Have you heard the original version with the same backing track by Chuck Cornish on White Cliffs? A bit of a novelty take on it, and as a result not "hot box fodder", but interesting none the less. In the same bag: "I Can't Do Without You" by Marty Lewis on Big Deal. Same kind of kick-ass never-let-up New Orleans material. I guess both of these are considered established oldies though, so a good point that "hot box" tunes doesn't have to be newies. Just kick-ass, in-your-face, no-nonsense uptempo pounders.

Glenda Mcleod - No Stranger To Love
If it's got a bevelled edge - it's the 2nd press. If it's got a "flat" edge - it's the 1st press. Have got some 2nd press copies here if anyone needs it. £15 including shipping. Superb tune!

Whoever It Was Predicted Ebay Would Slow Down
I agree. It's really strange because the only ones losing out on not telling us, from a financial point of view at least, is eBay themselves because the items will sell cheaper and leave eBay with a lower amount of "fee money" to collect. And that goes against the very idea of capitalism and the "long tail" reasoning which eBay is built upon (i.e. make as many things as possible available to buy and help people find them).

Whoever It Was Predicted Ebay Would Slow Down
Yes, you have to have "worldwide" ticked in on the left these days. See this: A search for "edward hamilton" without "worldwide" ticked in: https://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?f...edward+hamilton A search for "edward hamilton" with "worldwide" ticked in: https://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?s...op=1%26fsoo%3D1 I missed a whole stack of things until I discovered this as I always make my searches on ebay.com. Very annoying.

Whoever It Was Predicted Ebay Would Slow Down
...or list the stuff on ebay.com (where the end result fees are lower) instead of ebay.co.uk? As for a link from an eBay-listing to your webpage, make the link into a clickable image and don't actually write it in the item description. Don't know if this will work buy worth a try.

Tunes That Reduce You To Tears
I Just Found Out - freddie hughes - janus This actually makes me cry so won't listen to it now. Too many bad memories.

Some Nice Stuff Alfie Davison, Tommy Frontera
I absolutely LOVE that Tommy Frontera tune. Extremely cheesy lyrics and it's so twee it hurts, but those melodies, the brass, the handclaps, that "guitar solo" break... Love it!

The Story Of P&p Records Dvd
Gotta say that I really like the "other" Daybreak release as well. Didn't Patrick Adams produce/arrange The Carletts "I'm Getting Tired" together with Bobby Robinson? That's probably the earliest place I've seen his name. I'll let you know about the DVD when it arrives. So... Peter Brown sang in Four Below Zero?! They've always been a mystery group to me. One of my fave records of all time!!!

Master Four On Taystar Sold $5260 Us
I don't know if I'd say that it's "justified" and I understand your concerns. But it's the way things are and you pay a price for the massive market eBay supplies and the convenience of getting payments through PayPal. And by the way, the 9% fee only goes for ebay.co.uk users, NOT ebay.com. Yet, that is. OK it sold for $5260. If an item on ebay.com sells for over $1000.01, then the fees to be paid are: 5.25% of the initial $25.00 ($1.31) plus 3.25% of the initial $25.01 - $1,000.00 ($31.69) and 1.50% of the remaining closing value balance $1,000.01 - $5,260.00 ($63.90) That's a total fee of $96.90. Not too bad really, the seller still gets $5163 (about £2575) a pretty decent amount of money to earn for this 45 as I'm sure most will agree. If the seller gets paid via PayPal there ofcourse goes another 4% ($210) out the window. But seeing as PayPal, Postal Money Order, BidPay and straight credit card payments directly to the seller are the accepted forms of payment I'm sure that won't be the scenario. Still, if a PayPal payment is made, the massive $306.90 in fees still leaves the seller with $4,953.10 (about £2450) in their pocket. It would be hard to sell that record for that sort of money anywhere else in the world right now.

Have Love Will Travel
The Sonics version of "Have Love Will Travel" is LP-only as far as a 60s releases goes, but it was issued on a 7" on Norton Records in the mid-90's which can be had for $10 or less if you search around a bit. Their version is by far the best one of this particular tune in my opinion.
-
The Masters - I Need Your Love - Crimson
And how right he was. Their self titled "silver album" is superb pretty much from beginning to end ("Camellia", "Alone Too Long", "Sara Smile" etc.). And the enitre A-side on their Atlantic LP "Abandoned Luncheonette" is about as good as blue eyed soul gets ("She's Gone", "When The Morning Comes", "Had I Known You Better Then" etc.). Their later RCA stuff is also superb. All taken into consideration, and despite their huge record sales, they're still probably one of the most underrated artists around. "Camellia" might very well be one of the best tunes ever recorded in my opinion.

Have Love Will Travel
Great tune, as is most of their stuff. This was issued as a 45 on Etiquette. The flipside to "Shot Down" I think. I have a copy here somewhere.
-
Philly International - The Rare & The Good
I'm glad you like it! It's an absolute monster tune in my opinion.
-
Gwen Mccrae - Melody Of Life
Wasn't it "All This Love That I'm Giving" that was in one of those packs? A far superior tune to "Melody Of Life" in any case and well worth £1 of anyones money. By the way, what happened to the rest of the packs that you were going to list?

What Is Modern Soul?
No, he's probably on about the Popcorn scene in Belgium... you're in for a treat trying to get to grips with that one... Check this out: https://www.popcornoldies.be/
