Thanks for your comments and suggestions Tony. Mick Patrick commented the Dick Charles acetate when I posted about it on the Spectropop mailing list and suggested that it might be an unissued The Persians (on Pageant) tune. Apparently their "Get A Hold Of Yourself" is co-written by Kaye. I really like this tune. Did anyone else listen to these? Any comments at all? Here's a picture of the acetate:
-
It regularly sells for £15-£25 on eBay.

WOW! Siv Malmkvist. One of the most successful swedish artists of all time. Was really big in Germany during the 60s (which is when I guess she recorded this).

I've recently gotten a hold of a couple of acetates that I don't know much about but hopefully someone out there can help me out. The first one is a one-sided Dick Charles Recording Service acetate. There's no artist listed. The title of the track is "You're Gonna Be Missed". It's written by Buddy Kaye and Philip Springer. It's published by Budd Music. No song with this title is mentioned in either of those songwriters BMI or ASCAP entries. Have a listen to it here: https://www.shingaling.com/YoureGonnaBeMissed.mp3 The second one is a double-sided IBC Sound Recording Studios acetate (with a London, England address). There's no artist listed. The titles of the tracks are "Get A Hold Of Yourself" and "The Sun Is Coming In". There are no songwriters credited. Both tracks are published by Mills Music Ltd. Have a listen to these tracks here: https://www.shingaling.com/TheSunIsComingIn.mp3 https://www.shingaling.com/GetAHoldOfYourself.mp3 If anyone of you have got any info on these tracks (if they are known/issued/unissued/etc.), please let me know. Thanks in advance.

The Two New Kent Cds And One From Numero Group
Sebastian replied to Sebastian's topic in All About the SOUL
Pretty much everything on that compilation is good, but some of my faves are Trevor Dandy "Is There Any Love", Preacher & the Saints "Jesus Rhapsody", The Triumphs "We Don't Love Enough", Gospel Comforters "Jesus Will Help Me", Modulations "This Old World Is Going Down", Shackleford Singers "God Is All Over Me", Universal Jubileers "Childhood Days"... and Voices Of Conquest's absolutely mental percussion fest "O Yes My Lord" has got to be heard to be believed!!! -
The Two New Kent Cds And One From Numero Group
Sebastian replied to Sebastian's topic in All About the SOUL
Totally agree, the Twinight and Deep City CDs are great. Nice to see that more and more US labels are putting some time and effort into their releases. The gospel funk compilation from Numero is also superb as well is the Capsoul label one. Looking forward to their forthcoming Tap label compilation which I've heard is in the pipeline. -
Have been listening to them all day yesterday and this entire morning and just have to say that they are absolutely superb. Not only does both include brilliant music from beginning to end, but they've also got some seriously top notch liner notes written by Tony Rounce and well designed booklets. Lovely! I'm also listening a lot to Numero Group's latest "Eccentric Soul"-series release dedicated to the Prix label. Superb liner notes and booklet to this one as well.

Rex Garvin - Queen Of The Gogo / The Other Man
Sebastian replied to Sebastian's topic in Look At Your Box
Thanks for the info everyone! -
I just got a batch of 45s from the US and one of them is Rex Garvin's "Queen Of The Gogo" on the Canterbury label. Is it a bootleg? Wasn't it issued on Tower originally? The fact that the package came from the US got me a bit confused. The Canterbury issue is mentioned in the SoulfulKindaMusic discography. Can anyone please enlighten me.

You can always respond to feeback that has been left for you. It doesn't remove the negative feedback, but at least balance it a bit if you think you've been treated badly. Check this out: https://pages.ebay.com/help/feedback/respon...o-feedback.html

Morris "Jazzy" Miller is on SOFT SOUL.

Yes, there is at least one Angela Davis LP entitled "Please Don't Desert Me (At The Altar) " (have never seen a copy of the second one though, entitled "The Answer", on which "My Love Is So Strong" is rumoured to be included on) and one LP by The Mighty Chevelles entitled "Black Gold". Here's the Mighty Chevelles LP:

New Released Wd's Why Are They Twice As Much To Buy?
Sebastian replied to John Reed's topic in All About the SOUL
I guess it's more expensive (per copy!) to press up 100 white demos than 1000 colour issues. But I get your point and I agree with you. It's ridiculous. -

"Lady Of Stone" was also issued on the flipside to "Hooked By Love" on Minit, don't have a soundclip of it right now, but can probably get you one within a couple of days if I manage to get my new computer "on track" soon-ish...

I'm not going to try to persuade you to buy these sets, but can't you buy one volume per month (or every two months) and in about a year you'll have all of them? You don't have to buy ALL at once? And "It's My Time" by The Mynah Birds is a superb piece of jingle-jangle garage pop. A real pity that it never was released on a 45. Would've fit perfectly on the first "Nuggets" box-set.
-
You can order all sets from here: https://www.soulmusicstore.com/comosiboxse.html They deliver to all destinations in the world. Definitely do pick them up. Superb box-sets.

If anyone would like to have one of these "water damaged" copies... just stick it in the sink and watch the orange colour on the label fade away... Did it myself when I tried to get the mould in the grooves on my copy to go away... Not one of my smartest moves! Craig Moerer had some 10+ water damaged copies in stock at the same time less than two years ago.
