  1. Highly unlikely in my opinion. Cole has probably just forgotten that he was paid for it, or wasn't satisfied with the deal he got. That's my thoughts on it at least.
  2. Looking good! Downloading right now. Some big faves of mine in there: Marty Lewis, Manujothi, Sun, Gold, Ben Wiggins etc. Could do with one copy each of Gold and Ben Wiggins by the way if anyone is selling...
  3. I just had a look at the latest additions to Manship's auction page and there's an art/picture sleeved copy of Mixed Emotions "Gold Of My Life" on EMI Germany... So it seems like there actually was some truth in Elijah Cole's ramblings regarding connections between EMI Europe and this tune. I personally had no idea about this german release up until a couple of minutes ago. Very intriguing that a record this obscure managed to get a major label release in Europe.
  4. Has anyone got a soundclip of "That's The Spirit"?

  6. Considering how gritty the tune is, one of the most suprising tunes that charted on the Billboard pop list is Jimmy Robbins "I Can't Please You" on Jerhart. It made #131 on the POP chart and #21 on the r&b chart.
  7. This once was a £1000+ record. Then copies turned up and the price went to £100 almost over night. It has been selling for £75-£125 on eBay during the past 2-3 years. Manship has got it on his site right now for £150.
  8. I don't know if I have posted this before, but here is his rare picture sleeved swedish(!) Big Top 7":
  9. How about turning the relevant information in this thread into an entry in the "Sharp End Of Vinyl" sub-forum? Has anyone got scans/photos of the different matrix markings?
  10. I quite like Lou Rawls version of this (entitled "When She Speaks").
  11. As far as I know, yes Robert in Matt & Robert is Robert Thomas who did "Salvation". Matt is Matt Brown who had other records on Soft as well.
  12. I'd think that $20 for a top-10 r&b/top-40 pop record is pretty OK.
  13. "It Must Be Love" was a top-10 "r&b" and top-40 "pop" hit on the Billboard charts when first released. Great tune.
  14. Paul Sindab - Since I Met You + 3 - Columbia French EP - £236
  15. Well, to me it seems that way at least, I've seen far less of the Atlantic release than the Stax EP. But Manship was auctioning the Stax EP so you was not wrong in any way.
  16. It would've been interesting to know how much the french Atlantic 7" of "Blues In The Night" (with only one track per side, NOT the EP) would've fetched in a Manship auction... it's much rarer in my experience and has got louder sound.
  17. Carla Thomas - I'll Never Stop Loving You - Kent 6T promo - £106 Eddie Kool - Where There's A Will There's A Way c/w I Look In The Mirror - Dore promo - £552 Timi Yuro - It'll Never Be Over For Me - Liberty - £959 Jackie Day - Naughty Boy - Phelectron - £1808 Marshall, Donovan , Broomfield - Since I Found My Baby - Augusta - £407 Margaret Mandolph - Something Beautiful c/w I Wanna Make You Happy - Planetary - £374 Mousie & the Traps - It's All In The Way c/w How About You - Toddlin Town - £267 Mark IV - It's Easy - Champ - £676 Velvelettes - Lonely, Lonely Girl Am I - Tamla Motown promo - £258 Falcons - Love Look In Her Eyes - Big Wheel - £347 Tom Washington Band - Remember Martin Luther King c/w Walking - Blue Candle - £299 Anna Belle Caesar - Little Annie - Glad Hamp - £187 Johnnie Taylor - Blues In The Night - Stax french EP - £508 Towana & the Total Destruction - Wear Your Natural, Baby c/w Help Me Get That Feeling Back - Romark - £202 Clyde Mcphatter - Welcome Home - Decca - £105 Major Lance - Um, Um, Um, Um, Um, Um - Warner Bros acetate - £125
  18. As far as Jackie Shane goes, his much rarer "Stand Up Straight And Tall" on Modern is a big favourite of mine.
  19. Tony, have you been in contact with Swamp Dogg? Perhaps he can help you out in some way.
  20. "Into Something (Can't Shake Loose)" is an absoluter MONSTER gritty 70s dancer in my opinion. It's not worth much though as far as its value goes (£3-ish).
  21. The tune is written by Curtis Mayfield and produced by Rich Tufo. Would be nice to have the full story behind this record, i.e. which members the New World actually consisted of etc. There are both styrene and vinyl copies out there. "We're Gonna Make It" is only included on the issue copies. The demo copies have got mono & stereo versions of the "wrong" side. Here is the information for all copies of this 45 which sold on eBay during 2007: Jan-20-07: $1591.66 (EX) Jan-26-07: $1576.22 (EX-) Jan-26-07: $1420.61 (EX) Feb-06-07: $1600.00 (VG++) Mar-11-07: $621.00 (VG-) Jul-06-07: $568.89 (VG) Nov-17-07: $1134.98 (M-) Dec-09-07: $1055.00 (M-)
  22. I had a closer look at my Elvis 45s and you're right, the little blobs aren't melted into the vinyl, but they were definitely put there during the manufacturing process by some kind of machine. I also have one 45 which has got its centre removed and you can clearly see the "gaps".
  23. Because if it had, it would've been pressed in Norway. Very often during the 60s, records pressed in Norway used to have german labels on them. The copy you posted up with the plastic tri-centre looks like the german RCA Elvis Presley 45s that I have. The edges of the plastic on the centre are melted into the vinyl/label.
  24. Just out of interest, does it have 710 or 810 stamped somewhere in the run-out groove?
