    Was issued twice by they way with different flipsides: ERA 3187 - Jesse Davis - Gonna Hang On In There Girl / Night Bloomin' Jasmin' ERA 3189 - Jesse Davis - Gonna Hang On In There Girl / Albuquerque #3187 is a whole lot rarer.

    Exact same tempo on both, same recordings, vocal take etc. Just different mix/production.     That "Penny & The Quarters" recording is incredibly beautiful. I love it. The Supremes (not the Motown group...) recorded an uptempo version of it on the GROG label. Not a patch on the demo version though!

    "A Day In The Blue" on the Mums 45 is by the way also a Mark Capanni composition. His version can be found on his other Capitol 45, it's fantastic.

    Matt Weingarden is doing his soul night every Wednesday at a downstairs bar called Botanica on 47 East Houston Street (between Mulberry and Mott). I totally recommend that.     Then it's probably just a case of slightly different mastering/processing when the Polydor stampers were manufactured.

    Both the Jackson Sisters and Capanni versions are fantastic. Capanni did write the tune, but his version was released a full year after the Jackson Sisters 45 on Prophesy. I've read that the Polydor 45 features a slightly different mix of the tune compared to all other releases. I've never had the Polydor 45 so haven't compared them. Anyone else?
