  1. Here are the Dumas releases I know of: DUMAS 1204 - Jack Nelson - If I Had Really Known You / Playing With Love DUMAS 1207 - Rayfield Brown - I'm So Glad Baby / Snatching Back DUMAS 1214 - Willie Que - There's Something Wrong With You / Don't Wait Until Tomorrow DUMAS ???? - Willie Que - I Woke Up Smilin / Go Right Ahead What's the cat# on the second Willie Que disc? I seem to remember that at least one of the sides on the Rayfield Brown 45 is written by Arthur Wright.
  2. I'd say that whatever you choose it's a pretty good deal. Clean copies of the Kelly Garrett 45 usually sells for £75-£125 on eBay. Clean copies of the Phillip Mitchell 45 usually sells for £100-£150 on eBay.
  3. I'm sure you are right, the info I read was probably wrong. I don't have a bevelled edge copy at the moment, so can't compare the matrix details. Anyone else?
  4. This very same thing happened to me a couple of days ago. The My eBay page shows that a buyer has made a payment to me, but he hasn't - no money has entered my PayPal account from this person and he has confirmed that he hasn't sent anything to me. I suspect that it's just a glitch in the eBay system.
  5. No, the bevel is on the outer edge of the vinyl (like on many other late 70s/early 80s discs). The outer edge should be totally flat if it is an original copy.
  6. Here are some prices: 2007-08-01 - £250 (private list) 2006-05-07 - $299 (eBay) 2006-05-01 - $699 (eBay) 2006-04-13 - $999 (eBay) 2004-09-06 - £205 (eBay) The first and last copies on the list above were white demos, the rest of them were black issues.
  7. Re: Glenda McLeod. If the edge is bevelled then it's the "second issue". If the edge is flat then it's the original first issue.
  8. The bevelled edge issue is indeed a reissue, made for the group harmony market in the late 70s or early 80s. Hardly anyone mentions this when it's up for sale. Only the flat edged copies are originals and they are from 1969.
  9. Two superb 45s there which I missed in the previous post. A copy of Freedom Express sold on here a couple of days ago for £15. It sometimes fetches more though. Howard Tate should be about £5 or so. Great flipside as well.
  10. Bobby Hill and Otis Brown are both £5-£10 records and there are copies everywhere (what a tune "I Wanna Be With You" is! ). The issue copy of Carl Weathers is indeed quite hard to find. It's the boogie side which fetches money. Should go for at least £40, probably more if listed properly on eBay. Try to sell the Chet Davenport for the flipside as well, it's not hard to find (yet!), but it's a monster uptempo dancer!
  11. Thanks! I'm glad you liked the mix. That Webster Lewis tune is a monster and sounds very powerful when played loud at a venue. It's also quite tricky to find on 7" in my experience.
  12. The copy on eBay which was mentioned above sold for $885 and it ended only two weeks after the Manship auction...
  13. The Clifton release is a reissue from the mid-70s or so. The original release of this was in 1957 (or therabouts) on the X-TRA label and it also got a release on CANDLELITE. Both of these labels output are popular with doowop collectors and the original 45s are (or were?) fetching big money. "It Ain't True" is uptempo jump blues with heavy gospel influences (some might call it a "rocker").
  14. This record has been going up a bit in price over the past 6 months or so. You used to be able to find it for $10 because I guess most people are after the tune "Check It Baby" which is only included on the issue copies. "Take My Love" is a better tune in my opinion and it doesn't surprise me that the demo copies now are going up in price as well. Have seen it lately for $40-$70 so the $50 you payed doesn't seem too out-of-line. I sold an issue copy (which is very hard to find) on eBay about 3 weeks ago for $666. I noticed that Manship has recently put up an issue copy for auction, it will be interesting to see what it ends at.
  15. Only about 2-3 hours left on these auctions now! Thanks for looking. :-)
  16. 19. I wouldn't mind a copy of the Anniversary 45 if anyone has got another copy for sale.
  20. Am I alone in prefering the other two tunes which shares the same backing track as this? I'm thinking of Andre Williams "You Got It And I Want It" on RIC TIC and Fabulous Apollos "Determination" on VALTONE. Far superior vocals on those in my opinion.
  21. Yes it is. It's a different recording actually.
  22. £25 is high in my opinion. Here's a M- copy for £9: https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=180203332688
  23. It might be worth something to Motown demo collectors as it must be much harder to find than the issues with it being a big hit etc. Don't know how much though. The issue copies are worth maximum £5 if unplayed and mint.
