  3. "Cuppy" was Bill Haley's wife (Joan Barbara). I don't know if she actually ran the label or if it was someone else associated with Bill Haley though.
  4. Only about 3 hours left on these auctions now. Thanks for looking! :-)
  5. About 2 days left on these auctions now.
  6. The stock copy is extremely rare and £60 is cheap. I sold a stock copy for $266 about a year ago, it's the deep side which pushes up the price. Stock copies usually sells for $200-$300 on eBay.
  7. Yes, that EP is mine but it's not for sale. I've never seen another copy. There are two tracks by Otis Redding on the flipside. Comes in a nice art sleeve as well.
  8. It's also available on a 60s EP from Portugal on the TECLA label.
  9. You can't compare the two. Records are luxury items that no one needs to be able to survive.
  10. It's hard to find, but not ultra rare. Several (original) copies comes up for sale every year on eBay. It usually goes for $100-$150.
  11. Please read post #13 above (by me). You're assuming a lot of things that are not correct in all of your posts in this thread.
  12. I think it looks great.
  13. The band themselves have said that there will only ever be 500 copies made of this 45, and the people involved with pressing up this 45 knows full well how these things works and have earlier here on SoulSource pretty much stated that they don't mind it. Read this: I will stand behind making it a small batch though , it keeps it special. This is a big can of worms but to keep it simple let me say that the funk and soul scenes throughout the years have been founded on the fact that not every tom dick and harry has these records. As soon as you can get it just anywhere it loses a bit of it's mystique. I don't want to harp on this point too long, I wrote and produced the record and I can do what I want with it. Also, 2 or 3 people will have small quantity but almost all of that 500 are individual copies or 2x each. The same person also wrote this in the same thread: Record collectors are the freaks, not the band. 500+ people reserving copies of the 45 and you know how many have paid 99 cents to download it? I'll tell you. 10. So is it 'all about the music' or all about object fetishism? I am one of you freaks so don't take this the wrong way but this old chestnut of RECORDS vs THE MUSIC is F*&ing BORING as it's obviously about THE RECORDS! MUHAHAHAH In the meantime this thread had been getting us like 300+plays a day on our page, thanks SS! And the band is the one's who decided to keep it at 500 copies.. there are plenty of other ways to make money for the group besides 45 sales. In fact I wonder what succesful groups these days rely on them for any percentage of their income. This is all a bit of fun. It's all from this thread: /Kings-B...962#entry774962
  14. The flipside on this 45, "The Girl Can't Dance", is an all-time fave of mine. Great frantic rocker!
  15. If I remember correctly, it is mentioned in the liner notes that it is a US track, but they wanted to include it anyway... They are from the US. The local issue is on ATHENS, and then it was picked up by CHECKER. Bill & Will have got some other 45s on ATHENS/HERMITAGE as well. It has often been claimed that "Bill" is Billy Lee Riley, but as far as I know that is not the case. The songwriters on both tunes on that Bill & Will 45 are "Riley / Sasser / Willis". The full names of the songwriters are: Robert S. Riley William W. Sasser Jr. Jerry Leon Willis My guess is that two of the above guys are Bill & Will.

  17. Yes, right now it seems like that. Apart from yesterdays $358 copy, it's in steady decline precewise. Here are the 3 latest copies on eBay: 2008-07-24 - $358.66 2008-07-18 - $202.50 2008-07-12 - $214.50
  18. Wow! Didn't know that. I like their "I've Been Crying".
  19. The US RCA 7" is 3:27. The US RCA LP version is 3:59.
  20. Accoding to the seller of the test-pressing it has got: "PA/PB-11403 in the runoff" My RCA vinyl issue copy has got PB-11403A and PB-11403B in the run-out grooves, so it's most likely a test-pressing for the RCA release. A very nice item in any case!
  21. The value for the testpressing is $105.02. It sold earlier today on eBay: https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=250271397463
  22. Fantastic tune. It's a previously unissued track which was only included on the late 80s (or maybe even 90s) reissues of "New Orleans". Not really worth anything as far as i know, as it still can be bought from oldies45s/jukebox supplier shops on the net for $5-$20-ish.
  23. Usually goes for £20-£30. Here's a recent eBay copy: https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=140246745843
  24. Scepter.
