  1. I like it as well. Frantic tune!
  2. Isn't it the other side on this 45 which is the in-demand one? It's a storming uptempo beach dancer.
  3. Yes, probably a mono/stereo drop-out issue as some of you have suggested. I'm quite amazed that they let it out though, someone must've checked the testpressing before it got released. Oh well, an interesting item nonetheless and indeed as Sammy mentioned, hard to find here in Sweden.
  4. I'm sitting here preparing stuff for a forthcoming auction, and when I pulled out the swedish picture sleeved Tamla Motown release of Edwin Starr's "Stop Her On Sight" and played it I realised that it's a different take or mix than on the original US Ric Tic release! I'll post up a soundclip of it below. Is this version known? Was it released anywhere else? Any info would be nice. (by the way, to my big surprise I also just found a version of Pic & Bill's "Sad World Without You" recorded by swedish schlager/schmaltz-singer Tommy Korberg back in the late 60s... extremely unexpected!!! )
  5. Check out post #4 in this thread: /SUNSTRU...HES-t63310.html
  6. No, the 12" is extremely rare. It would surprise me if there are more than 5-10 known copies.
  7. In the mid-90s a UK label called LIFE ON MARS ENTERTAINMENT issued a cheapo 3-CD BOX SET licensed from Goldmine Soul Supply called "The Cream Of Northern Soul" (in the same kind of packaging as the Trojan boxes). Its effect on me and my friends was devastating. When I see the tracklisting today I realise that it's 100% solid northern soul oldies, but neither me nor my friends had EVER heard ANY of these tunes prior to hearing the three CDs in this box-set. It was an amazing experience and probably the single most important factor that got me into the rarer end of soul music. I still think it's a fantastic tracklisting and I love almost all of these 36 tunes. I would reccomend it to anyone who's interested in finding out about northern soul. Check it out: 01. Bob Relf - Blowing My Mind To Pieces 02. J.J. Barnes - Our Love Is In The Pocket 03. Rose Batiste - Hit And Run 04. Darrell Banks - Angel Baby 05. Olympics - Same Old Thing 06. 8. The prices for this one seems to be all over the place. The 5 copies I have sold on eBay (quite a while ago now admitedly) have sold for: 2007-05-02 - $88.00 2007-02-07 - $106.49 2006-12-04 - $106.50 2006-11-14 - $227.50 2006-07-31 - $94.50 Another copy, not mine, sold for: 2007-03-28 - $76.00
  9. My interpretation of it is that it means that I can't come on here and say "i need a high quality MP3 of xxx, can someone upload it?" Then someone comes on here and uploads that very MP3 to the SoulSource server so that everyone can downloaded it and the address to the MP3 comes directly from this forum. In such cases RefoSoul should be used, because first of all you can't download the actual tune, and even if you could RefoSoul has damaged/distorted the soundquality of the file to such an extent that the sound is useless for anything else than listening through computer speakers "on the fly". PJ put a link in his post to a low quality MP3 containing 30+ tracks and the MP3 was NOT UPLOADED TO SOULSOURCE, it was and still is stored on his own server. That's my take on it. Feel free to put me right (Mike?) if I'm wrong. But if I'm wrong: what about the links to downloads of Shaun Robbins Sunday Soul Selection which gets posted here every sunday? Or Melismo's podcast? Or indeed my own MP3 mixes that I do from time to time. Or all the other persons who do this regularly? It's all the same as what PJ did in this thread.
  10. Their other 45 on RCA, "You Took My Future Away", is a superb uptempo tune in my opinion. Didn't know about the Mandrill connection! Great info.
  11. No. The one on Columbia is from 1964.
  12. Yes, there seems to be some problems with opening some of your auction pages in Mozilla. Here is what the description for your Jessie Crawford 45 looks like in: MOZILLA: and INTERNET EXPLORER: Very strange.
  13. Don't edit it. You haven't done anything that goes against the guidelines of the site. At least all of this is bumping your show, which was great by the way!
  14. The link he has posted IS a link to his own site. It is NOT an MP3 file uploaded and stored on the SoulSource server.
  15. I think there's a big difference between asking for individual tunes as high quality MP3s, and putting up a link to a low-quality-MP3 radio show with 30+ tracks in one file. Most people wouldn't know how to seperate one tune from the other, and even if you did you can't do much with what you get, the sound quality is too bad. Also, some tunes are mixed together, there's talking over some of the tunes etc. Big difference. Just my opinion.
  16. Are links to long MP3-mixes not allowed now? Seriously? The radioshow looks great! Will download and listen now.
  17. Very decent price! Seriously hard to find 45.
  18. As far as I can see, there's nothing above that suggests that the 6162-101 release is from the US. The Sammy Davis Jr. discography which you have taken the above from ( https://members.ozemail.com.au/~lindenbrae/sdj/70-88.html ) seems to list records from all over the world.
  19. How about Al Foster Band "Night Of The Wolf"? Was originally issued on the italian CETRA label in an art/picture sleeve under a different artist name and title in 1974. The US Roulette release is from 1975.
  20. Are you sure that this is a US release? Do you have a label scan? The dutch release has also got catalogue number 6162-101. The numbering doesn't really tie in with anything else on US 20th Century from that time.
  21. Very hard to find in M- condition these days in my experience. Here are some eBay sales from the past year: 2007-08-02 - $89.00 (M-) 2007-08-11 - $71.00 (VG) 2007-09-05 - $200.00 (NM) 2007-09-19 - $64.00 (VG) 2007-10-23 - £50.00 (EX) 2007-12-19 - $170.00 (VG+) 2008-02-29 - $62.00 (M-) 2008-03-23 - £56.01 (EX) 2008-04-27 - $81.00 (VG) 2008-07-27 - $51.00 (VG) 2008-07-29 - £9.99 (VG) 2008-08-03 - £66.00 (EX)
  22. Only about 4 hours left on these auctions now. Thanks for looking! :-)
