  1. This copy sold for £181 on eBay in March this year.
  2. Yes, "Mojo Mama" is pretty much "25 Miles", but "32 Miles" instead... I personally prefer Wilson Pickett's version of "Mojo Mama", much punchier and with a more intense vocal delivery.
  3. So.... has anyone called yet?
  4. I know the site have been having some issues during the past 24 hours or so, so it might just be a glitch? They play fine on my computer right now, but an hour ago I couldn't listen to them either.
  5. It's supposed to have been released on VEEP (#1296), but I don't think anyone has ever found a copy.
  6. Pip was "music director".
  7. It is extremely rare in my exprience. Like you I've been actively looking for it during the past 7-8 years and the only time I saw it for sale was when I bought it, from a major US dealer, listed for the flipside. I got it very cheap, but I was just lucky. As for value? Who knows. It would take a lot of money to persuade me to let go of my copy. The only other copy I know of is in Germany. Has anyone on this forum got it in their collection? Would be interesting to know. Here's a label scan:
  8. Manship sold a copy for £508 in one of his auctions on the 27th of June 2007. And as Boba mentioned there was a copy for £158 on eBay a couple of months ago. It might be a rare record, but unless this 45 has had a £2000 price hike during the past couple of months, it doesn't belong in this thread.
  9. OK, I misunderstood.
  10. I really doubt that the band playing on the Pic & Bill 45 are the guys that plays on the Jimmy Scott 45. But then again, I don't know for sure, perhaps someone can ask the people over at the Soulful Detroit forum? It just seems odd because Pic & Bill spent most of their time in Texas and the Carolinas.
  11. By the way, I just found a post on the Soulful Detroit forum where Jimmy Scott said that the "Firey Spartan Band" on his DETROIT GOLD releases consisted of the following members: Dwight Pettifore - keyboard James Branch - guitar Gary Branch - bass Jimmy Johnson replaced by Lee Marcus - drums Detroit Horns - Garry Wiggins, Ken, Roland
  12. Unissued Motown tune. CD-only: https://www.amazon.com/Cellarful-Motown-Var...s/dp/B00005V1AY There are some white label bootlegs out there, but might as well play it from the CD.
  13. Where is the Allan Harris version released?
  14. They did a decent folk-psych-with-a-beat (!) version of "Daddy Rollin' Stone" as well, entitled "Big Daddy's Blues". Here it is on its picture sleeved Kapp Denmark release:
  15. Indeed, it's the exact same recording as on the Pic & Bill "Talk About Love" 45 on CHARAY 99. The Fiery Spartans 45, which is an earlier release (CHARAY 74), mention "Vocal by: PIC & BILL" so I think that the Fiery Spartans was the name of Pic & Bill's band (or just some made-up name that Major Bill thought would be a good name to releases it as... ). The b-side on the Fiery Spartans 45 is the same "Cool" instrumental which appeared on loads of Major Bill releases. Both of these original US Charay releases of "Talk About Love" are rare, but the Fiery Spartans issue is SERIOUSLY rare! By the way... would love a good CD compilation of the best Pic & Bill stuff... Some label scans:
  16. It's the same group. Here's their webpage: https://www.theemotionsweb.com/mu-discog.htm
  17. We obviously have different experiences so I guess neither of us should take our personal experiences as gospel then.
  18. No, you don't. That would defeat the entire point of a multi-region DVD-player - that you don't have to change your TV set. The DVD transforms the signal from PAL to NTSC and sends a pure NTSC signal to the NTSC TV.
  19. It will play if you have a multi-region DVD player. Almost all DVD-players that are sold these days can be "unlocked" and made multi-region with a couple of clicks on the remote control. There are tons of websites out there that can help you do this. Here's one of them: https://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks/
  20. According to: https://www.soulmusiccollector.com/jay_play...the_answer.html "In 1990 bootlegs appeared but are easily recognized by the completely different label design."
  21. The 45 was released on Capitol.
  22. Thanks!
  23. The original 12" and 7" should look like this: This is the second issue (bootleg?):
  24. US RELEASE: Edwin Starr - Time / Running Back And Forth - GORDY 7097 UK RELEASE: Edwin Starr - Time / Running Back And Forth - TAMLA MOTOWN TMG 725
