  1. That test pressing sure is rare, but I think there was only one bidder because the opening bid was fairly high compared to what an actual issue copy costs. In my experience most people seem to prefer actual issue copies of tunes that reached issue stage instead of test pressings or acetates.
  2. "Keep The Faith" is superb as well (although Mark James version edges it in my opinion).
  3. It's just called "Mel & Tim" (STAX STS-5501).
  4. I should probably have added that with "search result" I don't necessarily mean useful results (discussions/reviews/etc.), I mean ANY mention at all of that record - as an out-of-stock item, as part of a discography, on someones want list, a past sale on eBay, well... anything really. Perhaps we just have different experiences about this.
  5. I agree with Benji. I sell and buy a lot of records and research every one of them and it's incredibly rare the times I've come across something that doesn't throw up ANY search results. The folk-psych LP by Malc Sayer (out of Carnforth, Lancashire!) that I sold yesterday was one of those examples, I couldn't find ANYTHING ANYWHERE, but that doesn't happen a lot. Records not turning up as search results may not mean that they are RARE, but it more often than not will turn out that they are obscure.
  6. Only about 3-4 hours left on these auctions now. Thanks for looking! :-)

  8. This 45 almost never comes up for sale these days and there is massive demand for it from all corners of the soul/funk collecting fraternity. $640 is about £425... considering who the seller is and how much many of his auctions usually fetch, I actually thought it would go even higher. Fantastic tune! And so is "September" by Earth, Wind & Fire.
  9. There's about one day left on these auctions.
  10. Very poor vocal delivery on the Little Willie Faulk version compared to Ree Flores to my ears. Ree Flores just rips from beginning to end! One of my all-time favourite uptempo soul tunes. Has anyone ever tracked down Ree Flores?
  11. I have a one minute clip of the ballad one if that's of any use?
  12. No, that's a different record. The First Family on WASHINGTON is a powerful mid-70s funk tune. The exact same recording was also issued as by Sugar Hill on the same WASHINGTON label.
  13. Great tune! https://www.fileden.com/files/2008/11/6/217...28CUSTUM%29.mp3 By the way, it's on CUSTOM, not CURTOM.
  14. whoops!
  15. It sure does. Here are scans of all four releases lifted from around the internet:
  16. T.N.T. - Whip You Lovin' On Me / Everyday Fun - GM 710
  17. Also available on the dark/light blue design:
  18. I don't know... does it? About 60%-70% of the tunes are Motown-related, almost as if Motown = northern soul. And that's not right.
  19. They were Tony Johnson and Tyrone Pickens out of Detroit. Apart from the "Please Operator" 45 they also recorded two more tunes for Atlantic, "Detour" and "Honest I Do" but those remain unissued. Tony was originally a member of The Magnetics, but can only be heard on their "Where Are You" / "The Train" 45 on ALLRITE (same label as Danny Moore).
