Ordered an Originals LP from the states a couple of weeks ago for about $1.99. When the package arrived I thought my boat had come! There were 3 LP's in the package. However... On opening the package, the LP on top was Ben by Michael Jackson, and one on the botton was just as bad & both in really crap condition. It then dawned on my that this was just the packing (and a novel way of getting rid of some rubbish vinyl too I guess)!

To any of you well travelled guys......... I'm off to Tokyo next week, and wonder if anyone can point me in the direction of any good record shops to browse? I have been many times before, and have found the odd few, so I'm not expecting to pick up any bargains! Just somewhere to kill a few hours on a Saturday afternoon! I'm staying in the Ikebukuro area, and can recommend the ZAPP bar, where they have stacks of soul LP's (mainly 70's & 80's) and good bar food at a reasonable price! Any info would be welcome Cheers Dave

I recently tried to put a CD together of my all time top tunes, and that was hard enough picking just 25 ! What do you leave out ? To pick just one is incredibly difficult, but one record that has consistently come into my top-3 ever since the day I heard it is Sandra Wright - I come running back. Soul heaven ! Dave

I loved Freda Paynes "Band of Gold" when I first heard it on Radio One, and when I first saw the Invictus single in Radio Rentals window I went in and bought it. Only we didn't have a record player! Having talked my dad into buying one, other records soon followed, including Elgins - Heaven must've sent you & Smokey's - Tears of a clown on Tamla Motown. It wasn't until I had about 6 records that I found out that they were all by black artists, and what I liked was called Soul Music! A life changing moment! Dave

Was it a UK or overseas purchase? I have waited for almost 2 weeks for some deliveries over the Christmas / New Year period for overseas post, and a week is not unusual for deliveries at the best of times from my experience.

Sad news indeed ! Totally shocked by Jim's news last night, especially coming on the eve of the charity night that Dave supports so well, and where we will be remembering Alan Pollard, who it seems only left us yesterday! All feeling very vulnerable just now! According to Jim, Dave doesn't have any close family left, but he will always be remembered as part of our family anyway! He'll be sadly missed by us all, and we'll certainly raise a glass or two to him tonight! Dave H (photo taken at Prestatyn on my 50th, Dave on right !
