Thanks Pete. So we can assume then that the quote in the thread earlier about it being ok is an untruth? Quick edit on my part. The quote earlier doesn't actually mention any content about what they and DW talked about. Still mightily confused though :-)

So i'm still confused (and this is certainly no dig at anyone). Please can someone clarify where i have added a '??'........... Dave Welding owns the right to release these officially in the UK. The ebay seller has asked DW if it's ok to re-sell the carvers that have come into his possession from anonymous DJ?? The bootleg/carvers have been done with DW's consent originally, assuming that's why he's said it's "ok" and probably come from DW's recording, whatever format that exists on?? If the above is correct, it's simply a case that carvers have been allowed to be done by someone who owns the rights to all of the records, whether that be for personal or profitable use. Then someone has acquired said carvers from said person via some means and is now selling them on to joe public under a rather vague and confusing description on ebay but with the permission of the originator (DW). The ebay buyer is still purchasing a carver and can't be sure of it's legitimacy without reading this thread i guess, but that's their choice. I'd be keen to know whether DW has the rights to the Willie Dale carver sold by the same seller?? Or is that a different licencee??

Most folk watching will be doing ti to get an idea on price, whether they own it it or want it. Some will also watch in the hope to get a bargain or at least within their price range to what they value the record at. If it goes over that, then they won't bid. Thankfully, not everyone is impetuous when it comes to record buying. Bit of patience brings reward.

We did this a few years back with a Yorkshire Vs Lancashire thing, which Ady actually DJ'd at (and was supposed to judge but he bottled it). It added an extra dimension to the promotion but invited another club into the line up on the night. It works well at Different Strokes in their second room, and im sure there's other examples too. So whilst it's not a new concept, what i applaud Ady for is having the balls and ambition to do something different with arguably the best (certainly most long standing) niter on the calendar. I think it will work tremendously well, and now knowing Ady's reasoning for it, that just goes to show the drive is still there to keep things fresh, try something different and keep a flagship niter ahead of the game. Not to rest on your laurels. I'm sure Matt will do a fantastic job. The guy is serious about anything he does, for example his Move On Up night in Leeds at the HiFi has been running as long as i can remember, and that's a WEEKLY mid week event. To promote that type of club night running for so long, and it's always packed, is remarkable. He's got great taste in soul music too, and the line up is one that commands respect before the night's even began. It WILL be a success. Azza
