Hello peeps, I went down to the 100 club a couple of months back and remember hearing an instrumental (i think it was anyway, long day on the booze) and havent been able to track the artist / title down ever since. After singing it back to my friend recently, he seemed to think it was called "funky 8 corners" by Willie & The Mighty Magnificants. So off i pop on you tube, low an behold it is that tune........kind of!! Is there another version of this song? The one at 100 club was more up tempo than the WTMM record? Secondly, I was just wondering what the going rate is for The O'Jays - Jut to be with you? Like with most O'jays singles, i just assumed this to be readily available but cant find one. Cheers Azza

Bit dissappointing Paul seen as you said that they were ok after the test screening........Afterall, you and the famous Barker backside (medium sized) were in nearly all of them
-
To be fair Steve, i think Liam's comments were perhaps more aimed at the guy who said he hated the film (without seeing it i might add), and the people involved with it. Also advising those people that they should be ashamed of themselves. Fair play though, you both have your own opinions - and you should definitely think about a career in script writing, one of the funniest things ive seen on here!! I for one hope that it might get some youngsters involved. Us youngsters got involved at some point, and the music / people keeps us here. Maybe some young people will get bitten by the bug, come along, and like it enough to stick at it, who knows
-
Having seen a test screening Joan, i have to agree that the dance off is a bit on the cringeworthy side. The other dance scenes are pretty good though

If "all this shit" is going to put you off soul music and the soul scene, perhaps you dont get it in the first place. These things come and go (Souled out, Function at the junction etc), people who you "hate" get involved in them, they get talked about and then things move on - next weeks fish n chip paper so to speak. But one thing that's always there is the music and the people who love the music which has created a scene. If a film (good or bad) is gonna put you off the scene then you might as well take the opportunity and move on to a new fad. Some people will like the film, some wont. Some will slag it off, some wont..........But all in all, will this film make soul music bad over night? No, will it f*ck. The music will be there tomorrow, as will the scene, no more damaged than before the film or other media ventures came out. Sadly I cant make Droylsden to share a beer with you and talk you out of being put off all things soulful, but enjoy Mr Quinn's set especially

Cheers Mark, found the thread.... /forums/topic/8661-mixed-emotions-gold-of-my-life/page__p__1067634__hl__mixed%20emotions__fromsearch__1entry1067634 Seemingly legit re-presses from the artists. Originals are scarce (300 only - promos), also released in Europe through EMI. Time for bed before the Manchester madness ensues tomorrow, coupled up with a stag weekend next week, and a boozey day out for the ashes test at Headingley, i dont think i'll be affording this tune any time soon even if i found one!!
-
There's a Demo, and an issue copy (i think) on Gemm at the moment Cheers Azza
-
Top tune this! First heard it a few years back at a day time session Soul In The Sun, chilled out on the beach promenade, beer flowing and this track in your ears, GOOD TIMES. Someone get it
-
Many apologies as im behind the times on this record, but i like it and its on my wants list so dont want to get stung....... Which is the original issue? I always thought it was on a brown label? Is the one on buy it now actually the "original" that the guy claims it to be? I always had this down as a three figure record (if not, please accept my plea of ignorance) All info very much welcomed Cheers Azza
-
Been asked by a friend to find out from you knowledgable people the difference between the original and the re-issue, how can you tell? Does it have a different matrix number? He think's he's got lucky Any quick help appreciated. Azza
-
Yes, sorry Pete, you're correct, i'll go back to school and learn to read. But, if IT (i.e. the discussion of the track in question) is sad to be talking about this, why did you ask for more views, thus extending the thread?
-
Was it not you who asked for people's opinions / views earlier in the thread? Hardly fair to then call them sad when they offer up a different opinion to yours.
-
