  1. Nice one James, cheers mate. Just downloaded it now and will have a play later! Azza
  2. Agree with Beeks, £60 is about right for a demo.
  3. Posting up a want for a friend. After this classic soul record at a reasonable price and preferably good nic. Not fussed whether it's lp or single, and they ain't got a preference on James carr or Percy sledge. Pm me with price and condition please. Cheers Azza
  4. Remember watching this Jooles Holland episode, even posted how good this track was on my Facebook status cos i was drunk! Didnt know it was out on an album Adam, cheers, more money you've cost me
  5. Yep, such is the way of a forum..........just posting my view mate
  6. To say a band is just cashing in, and im talking strictly in the case of KGF in this case, is a little harsh. As with most bands / musicians, they have different influences which then form their sound. That sound is then picked up by an audience. I doubt when they started out, KGF targeted the 'northern soul scene' as their audience, perhaps more funk / jazz and general soul audiences at a guess. Wouldnt say theyre trying to cash in; selling singles at £10 and only producing 500 copies. They'd clearly be cashing in if they had re-pressed the single following its success on the underground music scenes like this one. I dont personally know the band (or any associates) so this is only an assumption, but i would suggest that the band ARE in fact showing an appreciation for soul music, as you can hear their 60's/70's soul and funk influences in music they produce, would hesitate to say even emulating their idols by producing music which capulate the great sounds from yesteryear.
  7. Some nice stuff in there Dave. Someone should defo get bidding on the El Shobey, crossover of immense proportion!
  8. Think most 'soulies' (applying the term loosely) buy the record for t'other side, which is by no means bad but not brilliant IMO, however the 'one day' side is rather splendid, a nice blend of uptempo funk and soul with a south american vibe that just makes you wanna enjoy it!
  9. Not all of us can experience the bulk buy economies of scale on packaging you will benefit from though pete. Good thing is though, you're one if the honest ones who passes those benefits back to the buyer through accurate postage. Too often see established dealers marking up to more than cost on postage. Same to be said for 'bit part' sellers too of course, the margins are just a little less obvious sometimes. I think for someone who doesn't sell in large quantities, usually an occasional seller, £2 for 1st class recorded is about right due to actual cost, anything above is clearly into profit making/cash for their efforts teritory. Ironically i bought mailers/stiffners through eBay!!!!!!
  10. I can only talk from my actual costs when i've posted 45's within the UK so apologies if your experience differs to mine when i've used the Post Office in the UK...............but..................I have ALWAYS sent record via 1st class recorded, nothing else, and the prices tends to be £1.65 for 1st class recorded, one 45 single in record mailer with stiffner. I charge £2 for postage of a single 45 within UK (£1.65 + mailers cost which is approx 30 - 40pence per record) Completely agree with you though, greedy people mailing out abroard or even within UK are making anything between £0.70 and £3 on avg IMO on postage. Soon mounts up if they're selling 100 records a month. I think buyers and sellers (the honest one's anyway) suffered from the 'ebay postage gate' scandal, whether hit in the pocket or hit with broken unprotected records.
  11. Agreed!! A mate of mine told me about it a while back. Low and behold i already had the thing in my box but never played the flip. Went down a storm at That Driving Beat, great record.
  12. Best 50quid someone will spend so far this year, grab em quick
  13. No, was worse than that from memory.
  14. Must be a typo................Although looking at some of their other items, the start prices are what could be described as "ambitious"
  15. Great price for a demo
  16. Remember watching one on ebay a few months back, black issue copy. Was as battered as the preverbial fish in a chip shop, label wrecked and the vinyl was crackly (putting it quite mildly)...........Went for $200+ Couldnt believe it. That is of course just the way of Ebay. Dave Thorley sold one not so long back on his website for £85, wish i'd had some spare dosh at the time as i've been after one for ages since hearing it on Andy SMith's CD. I reckon £120 - 150 should bag you a nice copy.
  17. What's the crack with the diff labels then? Which one's rarer, best to have etc?
  18. I would defo second that!! 3 top DJ's there, plus you've got the Soul Or Nothing section (i think) and of course the main room which is gonna be playing all the quality nighter northern you can eat.
  19. Gotta be said, Mr Jones is a vastly underrated DJ, and a top bloke too!! White bull is a great event, as is Wakefield City Soul Club @ Red Bar (Yorkshire). I know neither of these are over your way but some times it pays to travel and you wont be dissappointed! As been mentioned, the EMS forum is best place to suss out soul on the modern side. Dont ignore events talk on here either though.
  20. A mighty fine tune!! reasonable price too
  21. Please can someone provide details of the peeps who run on the scene flyer / leaflet thingy? Need their contact details. Also, does anyone know what their cut off dates are for submitting advert requests etc? Cheers Azza P.S - apologies to mods if this is in the wrong place, please move as you see fit.
  22. Im sure someone posted a want for Loretta Williams in wants not so long ago
  23. Nappies are expensive these days ey Paul. Extremely reasonable price that mate, should fly out
  24. Extremely sad news indeed. One of my favourite soul artists. How lucky we all are to have experienced his life's work. RIP
  25. Superb topic this, and with the knowledge and musical taste of people on here, people might just be digging behind the coutch to cobble 50 large one's together at this very moment. Got a spare grand or so and you're well on your way to a decent collection!! I notice that everyone thus far has posted 45's lists. Interesting to see some LP / LP only tracks lists.......or is that another thread? Azza
