Get yourself up to Driving Beat in Leeds on October 15th - top mix of 'old' and young (shameless plug i know), or the likes of Empty Bottles, Beat Boutique, Crossfire etc. However, don't let those comments made by the narrow minded put you off, or even make you think you need to attend mixed/predominantly younger crowd events. Niters & nights that offer great music usually attract great people. Just ignore the div's.

PM or text 07968174086 to reserve. Cheers Azza Simtec & Wylie - Cant break away, Shama, Vg/Vg+ £20 Great funky soul chugger, plays lots better than it looks!! Howard Tate - Thats what happens, Turntable, Ex+ £15 ON HOLD!! Up tempo funk edged soul that's primed for today Lillie Fields - Ive been discovered, Spectrum, Vg++ £25 Banging northern dancer, doesnt come up for sale that often. Great vocal Don Gardner - My baby likes to boogaloo, Tru Glo Town, Vg/+ £20 SOLD!! Graded harshly based on looks, but plays superb!! Billy Joe Royal - Mama didn't raise no fool, Tollie, Ex £30 Quality blue eyed soul dancer, bubbling under the radar O'jays - Just to be with you, Little Star, Vg+ £30 Another one i've graded conservatively, plays excellent. Very tough crossover number from the soul supergroup on a small label, awsome tune!! Liberty - Girl you better wake up, BASF, Ex- £15 Mecca classic! Major IV - Down in the ghetto, Venture, Vg+ £35 ON HOLD!! Evergreen classic that never fails with the dancefloor. Odd bit of noise, nowt major, plays really well and not too bad on the eye either! Wes Wells - From the top of my heart, Torrid, Ex- £20 Uptempo 70's dancer that deserves more attention Mark IV - Signs of a dying love, OTB, G, £20 ON HOLD!! There's good reason for this being 10 times less that going rate; it aint in the best shape! Bought it as a bit of a restoration project, but got the rarer 12" not long after for a bargain and never got started on it. Quite a few scratches and scuffs which are audible. Does play through without jumping on my decks (top weight) but noisey. Reckon you could get this up to a VG playing condition with some TLC and skill. Norfolk - Together, Barbara Jean, Ex £20 Sublime modern soul that's getting some airtime at present, and rightly so Richie Merritt - Where did I go wrong RAM, Ex £20 Outstanding modern, simples! Lee Shot Williams - It aint me, United Artists, VG/+ £20 ON HOLD!! Adam Topping had one on his list for double this price recently and it flew out!! £100 on Manships Slightly grubby label and a few visible scuffs/marks hence grade, but plays very well with odd soft pop, bargain.

Ruby - Feminine Ingenuity/deceived (Gold Token)
Liljimmycrank replied to Carlf's topic in Record Wants
One on Brownie's list at the moment, open to offers -
You're right, you didnt. But you did call him average, and said he shouldnt be teaching kids to how to dance because of thast fact. At the end of the day, why do 'kids' need teaching? Dance how you wanna dance - no point copying someone elses style. I'm with Mlad on this, the scene is what it is in the UK. Young 'uns come out to play with the old 'uns, and also do their own thing. Maybe the focus should be less of 'what can we do to get the young uns in' and more about 'do less of the things that keep young uns out'..........or here's a novel one, what will be will be so lets just get on with enjoying things

Try Chris Anderton. Long shot but he had one on a sales list a couple of months back

If young Ethan wants to dress up in baggies and dance all 'Wigan' esque then fair play to him. But i wouldn't say it's a wise thing to come on here and slag off someone for their dancing or speculating that said person is trying to teach the future of the soul scene how to dance; especially when that person has a lot of friends on here and the scene in general. To be honest, a lot of the youth who i know on the scene might respect the glory days of Wigan and it's past, but certainly don't want to be/re-live the past. They do what they do, dance how they dance and wear what they wear because thats what feels right to them in the current day. They've got their finger on the pulse in terms of music but choose not to live in a nostalgia world, and these are the same people a lot of the previous posts refer to. I think Steve and Bearsy said it - do what you like doing, listen to what you want. There's enough events out there for everyone and everyone's taste. Directly calling people out for how they choose to dance (which is an expression of their feeling towards the music surely) is bad form in my book
-
I can completely see the pro's and con's of selling through eBay with fees etc. But just how is it shaping values? If we see 'so many records' listed there all the time, then why is it dismissed so much about how to judge going rates? Surely if records are listed regularly on there, and go regularly below the so called going rate, does that not make it the going rate?

Mr Evans has already pointed my number one out, which would be PRECISIONS - WHAT I WANT. An awsome b side to why girl, and yes, definite hairs on the back of the neck stuff. As is BETTYE SWANN - MY HEART IS CLOSED FOR THE SEASON. not traditional northern soul but serious ballsy soul that does it for me every time. A third would be OJAYS -THE CHOICE. skip past the namby pamby intro and you've got a pounding Motown esque northern dancer that will give a fair few the goosebumples! Azza
