I'd say with the action that Grey Imprint is getting, it's certainly a hotter item Gary demand wise. Last one i saw go back end of last year was £1300, and think a copy exchanged hands for more than that earlier in the year. Sounded mint when Mr Thorley played it at Hamburg, room errupted!! Eddie got lucky when he landed on that copy from Pat a few years back (jealous!!) Always thought that the Oscar P was about £450. But it's probably one of those where you gotta pay a bit to prize it out of someones hands.

Worth a punt on getting discograpgies for some of the bigger labels and go from there......Alegre, Fania, Uptite, Cotique etc. You'll find some great tunes and artists, plus credits. That can then take you on to discover some of the smaller label stuff, producers who've had their hands ion many pies which might lead you onto some real latin soul gems. Plenty of pioneers for latin soul in the UK, just like the peeps who pushed northern. Many of these folk have written a lot about it and published play lists. One such fellow who lives up my way is Lubi Javanovic, who's basically lived and breathed Latin American/soul music for 30years! He brought Joe Bataan to Leeds for a legendary gig i believe

That's only my view of course. Pete Smith would have a good view on prices for all things oldies related. The Jackie Wilson tune is on eBay all the time and often goes cheap. Soul bros six is the same, but not always in good condition

Hi Vin, Soul in the sun (Tenerife), as Julie mentions is a holiday first n foremost with soul as a bonus. Eddie's been running it for years (12, 13yrs, somert like that). Been a few times, and always enjoyed it because it's laid back. He has an agreement with a well established venue over there where entry to teh venue on teh night do's is for 'soul in the sun' pass holders only, nobody else allowed in. Then holds day sessions where it's free to anyone. You book your flights, own digs. And just get a pass from Eddie through his website. You need to get a pass though or you cant get in on the night do's, but that's about it. The day sessions are highly recommended; themed in terms of music genres i.e. there'll be 70's/crossover ones, RnB ones, Motown ones. So for example you could be sitting in the sun listening to the likes of Steve Plumb, Flanny et al playing some superb crossover, or just go to teh beach. Choice is yours. At night, the music is mixed until about 11pm, then its mainly oldies after that. Eddie's a good bloke and im sure will answer any questions you'd have I havent been to any other do's abroard (other than weekenders) but i think their set up is more soul first, holiday second. So it really depends on what you want, bit like the scene as a whole; plenty of choice!! Azza
