SIR GUY - FUNKY VIRGINIA DPG, VG- SOLD Awesome funky soul. Label wear and some marks that are audible, but not that bad. Ok for DJing on a decent sound system, and cheap price as a result. This is the issue with 2 parallell lines across middle. MARY LOVE COMER - COME OUT OF THE SANDBOX LOVE, EX ON HOLD Quality modern soul classic, old Mr Fenn spin i believe?? Probably wrong on that! LILLIE FIELDS - I'VE BEEN DISCOVERED SPECTRUM, EX- Great northern soul withb some funky undertones. Great up tempo 70's dancer once you get the mad intro out the way -
Anywhere from £300-500 i'd have said, probably. Such a fantastic tune, would love one myself, but sadly doesn't pop up that often so you'll probably have to pay decent money to get it out of someone's hands........................Unless you're selling of course, then i'll give you £100 for it!!!
-
Nowt wrong with this seller at all. Never had a skimmed or polished record from him, and they're gradings/descriptions are always bang on the money. If they says it's beat it usually is. Always puts a soundclip up anyway so people can take a punt if they want. I was watching this one too, but decided against it cos i can't clean records up like Bob, nor can i provide epicly funny stories of new glue technics like him either Azza
-
Some nice tackle there Mark, and some good prices
-
It depends if someone can quantify how many turned up Bob? Might still be deemed quite rare. I doubt it was the same as the Dwight franklin tune if recent times regards to quantity. So once these copies dry up, it might become tougher to source again if say it was only a batch of 50 for example

I think it's bottomed out Blake. Not sure how many turned up, but they seemed to go to a few different folk when they surfaced, and those folk seem to have slowed down in the amount they're distributing, which i interperate as they've run out. Quality double sider, which will rise again in price. Maybe not to the £2-300 it used to be, but certainly a lot higher than 50!!!!!!

Great price mate, should fly out

Take A Look And Have A Listen...quality Sales
Liljimmycrank replied to Realpeoplesmusic's topic in Record Sales
Victoria Williams, great tune -
But the original way to own them is album Steve. If someone played one of the above out on a re-issued 45 from recent days when you had the orig lp in your box ready to play, you wouldn't be happy?? Just like if someone did the same with orig 45's. Not wanting to drag out an old argument of OVO but the re-issues of those 45's shouldn't change the fact that they're LP only tracks in my opinion
-
Someone mentioned 'Dont you care' by Alice Clark, but 'Never did i ever stop loving you' tops that for me, same album. Ralph Graham - Aint no need Odyssey - battened ships All great 70's LP only tracks. There are plenty out there. Oh, and don't forget current soul band Al Supersonic & The Teenagers.......They've put a couple of 45's out, but their LP "we're not too young" is superb!!

Album Only D.j.'s - Are There Any Out There ?
Liljimmycrank replied to The Tempest's topic in Look At Your Box
I've heard Brett Franklin do a couple of LP only sets, full of tunes that are either LP only tracks or LP only mixes of the track. Plumby too as mentioned, and Will West are the others who spring to mind. There's some fantastic LP only tracks that deserve more air time at soul events; stuff from all tempos and genres. Nothing better than buying an LP (often for one album only tune) and finding another little gem on there. Like Chalky said, if you're playing em at home, it's far easier than 45's.............unless you have a dancette or such like. -
Completely agree Keith, Jerry Jackson is a TOP tune and very cheap at that price!!

Paostage Rates Price Hike- £3.65 For One 45?
Liljimmycrank replied to Chris Anderton's topic in All About the SOUL
The market they trade in (well, the bit we're talking about here which is the consumer and not commercial side) is barely an oligopoly. Royal Mail are still benefitting massively from the de-nationalisation of their industry and economies of scale, which is why they can be cheaper than competitors - It happened in the Gas market and British Gas were constricted from reducing prices until they lost an proportionate amount of their business by the competition/mergers commission. I don't think the same is happening here IMO Chalky. In fact, i think the RM are potentially using that as a smoke screen to hike their prices up and 'into line with competitors'. I do agree though, the price increase within the UK isn't so bad, and shipping aboard aint too harsh either (as a buyer i used to feel aggrieved getting records shipped in from US/EU where prices are high)...............grand scheme of things, i soon realised there's more overpriced things in the world. It seems we'll be now more in line with overseas companies. The sale of cheaper records online may suffer now though as it's not as feasible for foreign buyers to get a true bargain once the new RM prices come in for shipping overseas?? -
Send a pm to MATTY on here. He's got one in his current sales box, on jetstar, mint too.

As we all know, technology has boomed in the last two decades, and with the developments of social media/network sites, file streaming sites like youtube, it seems online publication of music has been wrapped up in this. I find that online promotion can be a very powerful thing, when combined with the 'bread and butter' stuff.......flyers, word of mouth, radio, newspaper etc. But recently I've noticed a rapid rise in sound/podcast posting. I'm sure you know what I'm on about; mixcloud, sound cast etc. I actually really like them. It's an opportunity for a promoter to give insight into a night, a budding DJ to showcase their stuff to potential promoters, or just for a collector to share their insight into soul music without it just being a list of titles on a piece of paper......something for the ears!! I just have a few questions on this whole recording / uploading subject........ What's the best way to record stuff on your set up at home? How can you record stuff 'live' from your venue set up to share at a later date? Of all the software to upload a musical podcast, which is the best, any capacity restrictions etc? What are people's views on it? Good, bad, ugly Apologies to the mods if this is in the wrong place, please move if so. I'm keen to hear people's views. Azza

Jackey Beavers - Were Not Too Young - Jaber
Liljimmycrank replied to Dave Thorley's topic in Record Sales
Should fly out Dave. Much more desireable on this label than Mainstream and well priced. LOVE this version. Might even spin it on Saturday Azza -
JC Brooks is defo one to grab. All copies dried up and popping up on ebay for a lot more than 12 quid. Great tune
-
Mark, is that melisser? Think most of those in that picture were at hamburg weekender. And probably all other events across Europe!! I need to get over for a hip city do mate for sure
-
Nowt wrong with a buyer posting the price they are prepared to pay for a want Chalky. Private sales transactions tend to be cheaper, and more realistic on price, than buying off major dealers in my view. We all want stuff for less these days - if £50 is the right fee for someone, then there'll be two happy parties in the transaction
