Yeah, that was same one as on Facebook. Was tempted myself
-
Liam - there was one on rare soul sales on Facebook, issue copy and at a good price (bit cheaper that Adam if I remember rightly). Sounds daft quoting two issue sales and saying this.......but the issue is a very tough one! Demo would be a fair bit cheaper. Top double sider though mate Azza
-
Issue is incredibly hard. Lots of demos, but you don't see many of these

I've invited a good friend of mine down to our event a few times to take some snaps, and yes they do end up on the web (not on a designated website, just social network stuff). She's always very courteous when taking the pictures and tries to remain stealth. She once did make the mistake of bringing the wrong flash, which was a bit bright to say the least, so we kept the shots to the lighter areas of the venue and eventually abandoned things on that night. Thing is, if done properly (which the original poster seems to do) then the photo's can be a very powerful thing. The photographer i use is into soul music; not massively, but likes it, mainly due to her liking for the scooter scene. She's got a great nack of taking fantastic natuaral shots whether that be dancers, people talking, natural observers, or just a cheeky laugh at a joke. Often the photos feature people well dressed but to be honest, i just trust her to come up with great shots of all people in the room that 'fit'..................and when i say that, i mean fit with the ethos of the event. Having a good time, capturing the atmosphere etc. It aint a fashion parade, and it aint just about snapping the young, or good looking. I give her a brief, she follows it applying her own etiquette. She also does it in fits and starts, as she likes to enjoy the night and music too!! The law itself has been explained on here by some experts (thankfully i've got Mr Buckley on my side for that!!) but i think a general common courtesy approach and trying not to intrude is the way forward, and will actually lead to better shots in the process.

Try Ted Massey - he was selling one a while back, not sure if it sold. Adam Leaver may have a spare

King's Hall All-Nighter, Stoke Tickets Available
Liljimmycrank replied to Beatin Rhythm's topic in General Sales & Wants
Thought this was posted in sales, rather than general sales, so i was being a bit of a facetious tit. My bad, as it seems to be in general sales which is fair game (unless it's been moved) -

Gabin Feat. Dee Dee Bridgewater - Into My Soul 12"
Liljimmycrank replied to Eamesy's topic in Record Wants
Did you get sorted on this Derek? Just put one up in sales yesterday -
Keep up with what mate?? I have been commenting on the topic (i.e. the merits/views on funky soul), but sadly just felt the need to reply direct to your statement about youngsters on the scene being fickle, which i took offence to being relatively young myself. Apologies for veering off topic. I always prefer sets to be varied at a niter anyway, so a full hour of any genre/tempo doesn't always work for me. Not saying i dont enjoy parts of those sets though. The funky edge soul stuff i like is not the stuff Joan refers to (Checkmates Ltd being a prime example). It's the tunes that are soul with funky undertones/beats, and i definitely think those records have a place on the soul scene.
-
What's pathetic about defending myself? And yes, i've quoted you again, oooops! You weren't generalising. You were calling youngsters on the scene fickle. There aren't many on the scene as this forum regularly points out, so your point is even more specific as it's targeting a small group. If you can't take it, dont give it
-
I agree. Went to my first soul do when i was 14, and now nearly 29. 15 years of being a fickle youngster
-

-
I think this is the type of stuff Joan is referring to yes. Although, i have to say, it's not what i thought we were on about, but as with most threads on here the waters get murkier as things progress But i get easily confused.

Weekenders....is There A Demand For A Rare Soul Weekender?
Liljimmycrank replied to SallieJane's topic in All About the SOUL
Completely agree Nev, and it's that drive from people to find new tunes that forms the underbelly of the rare soul scene which..........bringing back to sallie's question.........is there enough of an appetite to funnel all these beliefs, knowledge, 'morals' of the rare/inderplayed soul scene into one weekender in the uk?? I happen to think yes, with the right input from the right people. "build it and they will come", or should that be MIGHT COME :-)
