  1. I'm too young to get away with being able to claim "yeah, i went to Wigan Casino" like the 2 million other people in the world who 'went', so of the folk who actually went and actively post on here, i'm hoping you can answer my question. Did all the records listed on the soundtrack actually get played at Wigan? Or am i missing something? (if it's not restricted to just Wigan tracks then cool, this isn't me having a dig, just wanting to get it straight in my grey matter). Azza

  4. All since 2011 through eBay (bar one) well below 300, but all VG ish. Not sure about set sale. Anyway, good luck with the search
  5. Not sure how many were found Jordi but certainly must have been enough to bring the price right down after it's initial 'discovery'. Prices in the last 3 years or so been around the 250-300 mark. Like you say though, it is mint. I wouldn't deny someone 500 for it, superb record
  6. No surprise, lee Jeffries (rarenorthernsoul.com). More expensive than manship
  7. Is the sir guy the plan label or does it have the two parallel black lines across the middle?
  8. One of the most helpful and knowledgeable guys on here. Traded a few tunes and record chats with Bob, would've loved to have met him in person. Shocked and saddened by the news. Rest easy Bob
  9. Get my facts straight???? I asked a question!! What's with the over reaction? Look at the thread, someone else quoted it as soul in the sun by gold soul, not me. Think it's you who needs to get your facts straight.
  10. With 3 separate wants threads currently showing in the top 5 threads in the wants section, i think we get the gist that you're after this record
  11. Is the gold soul one actually called 'Soul In The Sun'? If so, that's bad form. Eddy's do is into it's 14th or 15th year, somert like that so they can hardly say they were first with the name. Might even be a registered business these days, no sure
  12. In answer you your original post and the whole point of this thread Paul, people will label whatever they can in order to sell the record, especially on Ebay. If it's on a dealers or an average joe bloggs seller's list as a genre it most certainly shouldn't be defined as, then they just look foolish and are less likely to have your eyes gazing at their lists in future? It's not like it's anything new, and it certainly isn't restricted to the genres you've highlighted. I don't think it's a desire to unearth the next big thing, more to just cash in on the piece of vinyl they're selling. Trawling through any lists has always been a necessary evil. Wheat from the chaff as they say.
  13. I have EITHER the US or UK copy for sale. Only one of them to go, the other will stay in my collection. Postage is £3.50 to UK, £5 to EU. Registered / recorded is more, just ask. Paypal (as gift if possible), bank transfer or cheque accepted. Cash sent at your risk also. PM to reserve or txt 07968174086 Cheers Azza ODYSSEY - ODYSSEY LP MOWEST (US), VG+ £65 SOLD!! 14. Just unpacking my record box back onto the shelves after a fab weekend down south so thought i'd post my playlists up here. Got to say the anniversary do was outstanding from start to finish in what was without doubt one of the most unique and poshest places i'll ever be invited to play records in!! One of the best all dayers i've been to. Azza x 1st spot, 4.40 - 5.20, more of a chill out / warm up vibe in the place. In correct order......... 15. One on Anglo list yesterday
  16. Don't get me wrong Steve, I completely agree with both those points.
  17. Yep, defo see your point, and im sure not all friends and family would want to go to a soul do if they weren't into it. But then again, some folk are not into cheesy pop music and listening to Grease megamix whilst they chow down on sausage on sticks and stale ham butties from a naff buffet. They go because it's their loved ones birthday and thats what said loved one wanted to do to mark the celebration.
  18. Haha, damn iphone and fat thumbs! meant 'Soulies'
  19. Don't think any posts so far are looking to set out rules? Just suggestions that some people on t'other thread might not have thought about
  20. Think Steve's original post is referring to birthdays where folk are out n out doilies and probably not interested on the normal birthday stuff, that's how I inferred it anyway
  21. You need to 'follow the thread' top right hand corner Gaz
  22. 2 absolute faves on there **Edited - make that 3! bit premature with the typing
  23. Don't have an all time fave, and some belters mentioned so far, with so many more! This is probably my current fave, from a crossover/70's soul vein........
  24. Always thought this Steve, especially the birthday thing. If it's someone's 50th/.60th and they're big into the scene, why not just approach your favorite and already established soul event/promoter to absorb the bday celebrations. Theyve already got the venue, playing the music you love, got the dates pencilled in, probably already got a lot of your mates going to it who you'd have invited anyway etc Would take a lot of the hassle out of planning. Im sure the promoter wouldnt mind either, probably bump their numbers up!! The charity do's could try the same thing. I know there's a lot more said on the microphone for charity do's (raffle announcements and the like) but there's easy ways to keep that to a minimum. Everyone would be a winner (promoter gains more numbers, as does the charity in terms of cash generated)!
