  1. You 2nd pressing isn't it, after the CSC issue?
  2. "Lovin Is Really My game" is truly dire: sounds like they were trying to cash in on the 'workout music' craze. "Wake Up And Be Somebody" does it all over that muck...the long 7" version with the ending, as it were. Horses for courses as they say.
  3. I used to play 'You Made Me Cry'...in the house, that is. Isn't 'Don't Stop' a really 'teeny' kind of sound? Had a few copies of it. It's a record which I always ended up selling and then buying back and selling again. Isn't it R. Tenard on the label or something. Someone once said 'nice enough tune but not sure if it's rock 'n roll or not...' I quite liked it.
  4. ...not sure if this is the right section or not, but the sporadically updated show on www.northeastsoulradio.com has just been...updated. Guest DJ Peter Richer on this time laying down a superb, classy selection. Take a listen over at the site. Sound quality is a bit 'swirling' at time thanks to .ram technology etc, but still enjoyable (hopefully) Playlists will be up on the site shortly.
  5. Clipped this off a Deep House podcast floating around on the web for ease of use...not the whole thing but an idea. Actually that's not the same mix as the bah samba one...it's the Bah Sonic one (just checked back) Alexander_O_Neal___Lord.mp3
  6. Village_Choir___Sweet_Hot_Lips.mp3
  7. Been there for, ooh, what 3 1/2 years now...deeper pockets keep beating me to it though and jumping the queue. ...nevermind, might see a reissue soon
  8. Unfortunately Russ I think you might need a bit more than that to get a MM
  9. I usually charge the following which includes cost of mailers, stiffners and walking to the Post Office (some people seem to charge for wear and tear on shoes, effects of pollution when walking to the Post Office and/or the cost of tablets to overcome Post-Office-phobia ). Anyway. I aways send UK recorded as a norm (or special if needed) Overseas, I give the option of recorded post...most don't take it though. UK 1X 7" Recorded £1.50 each 7" thereafter=25p EUROPE 1X7" Standard Air £1.50 each 7" thereafter=30p EUROPE 1X7" Recorded Air £4.50 each 7" thereafter=50p USA/JAPAN 1X7" Standard Air £2 each 7" thereafter=30p USA/JAPAN 1X7" Recorded Air £5.50 each 7" thereafter=50p Just off up the P.O now as it happens...

  11. Sean, PM me. My pal Ash might have some left or try Paul Conroy on here ( /index.php?showuser=2650 )
  12. Don't think they are re-issues, rather the guy who you obviously spooked - i.e the 'US Digger' - more than likely got a load off someone connected with the band (the producer) hence them being everywhere. Whether or not they've all been 'farmed' out is another matter. Actually, now you mention it, what is odd is how this has the producer's name on it... https://cgi.ebay.com/CANIA-45-Monster-Moder...1QQcmdZViewItem and this doesn't https://cgi.ebay.com/Rare-OH-Modern-Soul-45...1QQcmdZViewItem Either two different pressings or one of them has been creative with photoshop editing out the all important contact info thanks to your recent sleuth work. Strange though.
  13. Know what you mean. Can't deny the Lifetime release as a killer two-sider, though.
  14. I had the same thing but about 4 years earlier. Still got the Select Records T-Shirt though....wearing it today actually.
  15. So many great sides from him and what a voice! I Got What You Need, Main String, Gimme Some, Wind Me Up, Let Me Do It, all faves. He Sent Me You came out on the CD On The Modern Side.
  16. Christ, I think Spanner (apt) must've read something no-one else saw. What I was saying that I'm sure Manship auctioned one that went for over £300 at some point. It is good, you're right there, but that's not the point. The point was about giving a valuation of the record. Or maybe you read something that no-one else can see? Oddball
  17. Wrong one on the ebay link...that one's 'That's Love'... ..."Since I Found..." has been going at £250+ too, though. Even up at £300 and I'm sure one may have sold for more on a past manship auction
  18. It's on the Wanted By A Million Girls album...last one I saw on ebay went off at over $1000
  19. It's actually called 'Make Love To You' by Scarbrough on E.J Scarbrough. Not sure it came out on 12" but Craig Moerer has the 7" or try Voices...both about the same price.
  20. ...they are...towards the end of april... dates so far (as far as I know them) Apparently there's a date in Leeds which may be a replacement for the So'ton gig on the 29th Wed 26th April - Maida Vale Session (BBC Radio 1) for Gilles Peterson Thur 27th April - Glenfiddich Independent Mix (Cargo, London) Fri 28th April - Trinity Hall, Bristol Sat 29th April - Soul Cellar, Southampton Sun 30th April - Newcastle The album is, in the main, f**king brilliant. Took a few spins but it's a grower and it's great to see the band develop from the first few 7's way back in the late 90's to this. Looking forward to seeing them later in the month.
  21. How is he being honest by saying "YOU ARE BIDDING ON A RARE PROMO PRESSING OF THIS RECORD". That would imply that the 5 copies had been made specially to promote something. If he was being honest he'd have said "You are bidding on a vinyl carvers* dub of two tracks by the Volumes with label scans that were taken from (more likely) a scan of a promotional copy" The label pictured also looks as if it was lifted off this one https://labelscans.anorakrecords.de/scans/V...dFeeling_WD.jpg ...so it's also being sold under false pretenses in a way, unless the photo he's used is a scan of the item the customer will receive. If it is a VC dub, the labels are more often than not a lot smaller than typical US labels, which means what you think you might get, you possibly won't. Just some guy bootlegging under a different name, really. On a small scale but it amounts to the same thing. It's not really hard to see what's going on and it is a piss take really. *assuming it was done there
  22. ...arf! So many possible answers to that one If you get chance to post a clip up Jordi I'd appreciate it...I gave my (old) copy away 18 months back and I've not heard it since
  23. Good stuff. They did actually issue Am I Imposing about 2 years back - same track on both sides - but it sounded absolutely terrible, which is why I made that comment. Glad they sorted it because under all the muck of the first pressing was as you say, a killer dancer. I still think it's a bit cheeky asking $50 for a new pressing, but that's the way they want to do stuff I guess, and if folk are happy paying it, fair do's.
  24. On the subject, all three records listed by the guy selling the Mixed Emotions represses currently on ebay are recent pressings. People ought to be aware of that. Bizzarely, the guy tried to tell me the East Oakland was never originally released, even though a mate clearly has a vintage copy, pressed around 30 years ago. The old 'never officially released' line came out again, as blurry as before (the thread should still be on here from last year and earlier?) The 'Am I Imposing' wasn't apparently initially released, though the first pressing of that (done around 2 years back) sounds like it was taken off a 200th generation c90....not saying this one does, just best of asking the question beforehand. The seller can be found here https://stores.ebay.com/Richtown-Records They don't mention that they're recent pressings but folk should be aware of it before deciding if they want to part with $50, $75 or $100 for what is essentially a new piece of vinyl. Only seems fair to point it out.
  25. No, you have to pick a number that you think might be close to the auction number of the one you're looking for and then go backwards or forwards. You'll get there in the end.
