  1. As i am a big fan of Jackie Wilson i wondered if people would share what there fav Northern soul songs were by him or if you have a list of them. As i keep seeing more and more yet i have the Uptown and Up North cd (sadly Higher and Higher not on it). My fav's are Open The Door To Your Heart, Because of You, Higher and Higher and I Get The Sweetest Feeling

Well, my favourite song by him (northern or not) at the moment at least is "You Brought About A Change In Me"

  2. Hey all! I have another challenge for ya? I am looking for a copy of Wee Willie & the Winners- "I found the funky man". on the Genuine label? I don't what the b-side is? I dont know if this is super rare or not? All I know is I can't find it? any help from you guys would be great!

    Cheers!

    elguapo.

Not super rare but tricky(ish) I have a copy...if I make my mind up about selling it I'll PM you

  3. hello AGAIN,

why doesn't anyone have the records that I want??

Please can someone sell me a copy of Lovations- Later Baby/Drifting Offshore - CapCity

Oh and Barry Waddington wants a copy too - but I'm much more attractive than him so should get first dibs :(

Oh and if you've got it and have never played Driftin Offshore - then shame on you, its a stunning record that Nick Brown used to play out way back in the late 80's. Actually someone can Pm me with an MP3 of that if they like as I am too lazy to search for the tape that I've got it on

    thanks....

    PM sent :(

  4. I'm offering a copy of Melvin Brown/James Matthews - Love Stormy Weather/Soul Man (Philmore Sound) for either sale of trade. The record plays near mint. Visually there is a thin scuff across the surface of the Stormy Weather side and a smaller scuff near the end. These do not affect play. There are light crackles on the quiet (very quiet) intro but apart from that it plays beautifully. Soundclip here (right click, save as) Very hard record. Currently got £750 cash + £500 trade offer. Will let this run for 7 days.Lable scan below. If interested please PM or email thecauldron@witchsbrew.co.uk lovestormy.jpg

  5. Does anyone know who this is. Seems a bit shady, having no posts, and offering up M- copies of every want I have put up. Anyone else been offered anything by him?

He may be on the up and up, just want to make sure!

    -Mike

I know who he is...sure lots of others do too, but I think he'd prefer to remain annonymous in the main. Honest enough guy, though so I wouldn't worry.

  6. Hi all,

value/infos/soundclip of The Dynamic Upsetters - Come on down ??

    TIA :thumbsup::shhh:

On Mega (same as Mellow Madness) Sold my last copy a while back...think it went at £75.

Should still have a soundclip, though won't be able to post until tomorrow.

  7. check this out a classic sound but modernized, what do you think would this work on the dancfloor????. p.v..mp3

Sorry to be unkind but it probably did work on the dancefloor at a 35 and overs nightclub in 1993 (when it sounds like it was recorded). Absolutely dreadful - and that isn't from a purist angle (because that doesn't even enter into it) just a musical one. Sorry, not for me or any dancefloor I'd want to be near.

  8. Does anyone know if any of these songs are on easily gettable compilations or reissues?

    Yours

    The Heathen

None yet...but there was rumour of a Mellow Madness reissue in the near future yes.gif

The last Mixed Feelings on ebay was £1500 'Buy it Now' from a dealer in the UK it sold within 20 minutes of being listed. Had I seen it before it sold I'd have bought it as I have been offered considerably more than that for my copy by people on this very forum.

    My error...yes, £ not $!

  9. Sorry to have to disagree with J-Brew but at the moment i think £100 is about right & it's sure to rise way higher as demand dictates values as we all know. Saw a copy go on e-bay for about £120 a while back.

Also not sure that Hamito - Semitica is the 2nd press as if you check the serial numbers with a CSC copy you'll see they are the same (104). The same company pressed them both so it could be a reigonal thing.

The really rare copy though is the 12" issue & yes it does exist. Only ever seen one though.

Aye, you're probably right , Martin...I was thinking outside of the 'sudden demand for it' value, which to me was always £30 tops. It's nice enough (apart from that dodgy bit about 2 minutes in - you know the bit whistling.gif ) but just find it weird it suddenly got picked up on over load of other 70's that haven't as yet. Again, like everything, horses for course, etc. Is a 'big name' spinning it all of a sudden?

  10. "Lovin Is Really My game" is truly dire: sounds like they were trying to cash in on the 'workout music' craze. "Wake Up And Be Somebody" does it all over that muck...the long 7" version with the ending, as it were. Horses for courses as they say.

  11. Digging around in some stuff that I picked up on a recent buying trip I came across a copy of Robert Tenard - Don't Stop / You Made Me Cry on FA-BO-LUS.

Both sides of this are pretty good but I can't seem to find out anything about this 45 or the label. I assume its the same Robert Tenard who did Gotta Get Goin on Fabulous.

Anyone know anything about the record and if it has ever been played?

    Many thanks

    Mark

I used to play 'You Made Me Cry'...in the house, that is. Isn't 'Don't Stop' a really 'teeny' kind of sound? Had a few copies of it. It's a record which I always ended up selling and then buying back and selling again. Isn't it R. Tenard on the label or something. Someone once said 'nice enough tune but not sure if it's rock 'n roll or not...' I quite liked it.
