  1. Hi all,

Does anyone know the going rate for Joseph Henry - Who's The King (Desco)?

    Cheers for your help.

    Best wishes,

    Rich.

Not sure if the Daptone re-issue did much to dampen the need for the original seeing as it became widely available but they were going at around £50 at one stage (the Desco issues)

  2. BBC1 are currently using a jazz/house bedding track inbetween programmes. It has the lyrics 'I Want You To Get Together' and sounds a little like Nina Simone over a horns, bass and drums rhythm.

I'm certain the track was released in the last 5 years and just can't put my finger on the name, can anyone help indentify it please?

    Thanks

pretty sure it's St Germain - Rose Rouge off the Tourist album

  3. speaking of this cracking tune.. I recently purchased what is probably 4 Generation pressings from the Master Tapes. I got them from California and (on a hope and a trustful prayer) that they came directly from Elisha Cole's son?!

    Any thoughts on this?

    thanks..

    ps.. Jason's mix is slammin!

Jason - is the new fanzine out yet and available for mailing?

..that sounds like the first pressing he did about 3 (?) years back, J. Tommy from Oslo maybe knows more about it. He gave me a copy back then and we agreed, great tune, sh*te pressing. Thank god Cole re-did them. I'd try and get a refund if I were you mate. The one's he's selling ebay seem fine, unless the dodgy ones got mixed in.

  4. Did this x-over type mix some time back - free to grab if you want. I'll find the track list later

Lot's of easily affordable stuff on there

...and definately the type of stuff you can hear at the Brit, Newton Aycliffe, Friday 13th April

...or usually early doors at Whitley Bay, 2nd Sat each month...

...or in the 2nd room at Sunderland, 12th May.

    End of shame(ful)less plugs

  5. sorry to hijack a bit but yeah looking for steven abdul kahn on "7. pm if you can help

Is that 'Got To have Your Loving'? Did it actually come out on a 7"? Know it came out twice on 12" - would be interested to know if the 7" definately exists :D

  6. I quite like the tune that plays when you go onto the "contact us" page on their website. I don't think I've heard that before, who is it? It rings a bell.

    Edit - ed

Connie Austin - She Made A Mistake

  7. To be a successful and respected dj you definately have to be a collector first and foremost.

A dj without a reasonable collection from which to select, would be like a gasman with only half a tool kit.

May I refer you to the Hotbox thread on this site (and another :) ) where that manifesto seems to have been challenged :)

  8. Erm...yes, sorry my terminology was a bit askew. I do upload the clips to webspace, but I embed the html links within a graphic with an ear on which cant be cut & pasted onto this forum

 Fair do's. creating a 'Listen' link with the url embedded on here usually does the trick, but if it's an ear you want, an ear you shall have. Just not on 'ere.

  9. I guess I can do - yes. However I embed soundclips in a word file so its better that you send me an email so you can hear all the tunes I list

    Adam

Easily remindied. Just upload them to webspace then link 'em on here. Saves sending huge emails with embedded clips I guess. Dunno, just a thought
