  1. Did anyone purchase on Ebay, Hard Cover's - Do you Care, from the seller Plock69742 as a Buy It Now and received theirs yet ?

He had multiple copies from the label owner, plus 100% feedback.

Reason for asking is that so far nobody has left feedback on this 45, my copies have not arrived yet and he's not selling anything else at the moment. Not panicking yet but curious.

    Pat

Same here. Bought one a few weeks back, not got it yet. Must say it was mildy irritating and humorous in equal measure the amount of 'positively, absolutely last 20 copies' they seemed to have, each time they listed yet another 20. Was surprised to see it on Manship's auction given the amount of copies that showed up and were at $40 buy it now. Suppose the arguement will be 'well, there's none left, now'...not sure I trust that this is all there are to be honest. They'd sold a load earlier in the year: must've had about 80+ on ebay in the past 12 months. But like you say, 100% Positive so probably just slow or something.

  2. Is there one available just beginning to realise this guy made a lot of records.

recently picked up what I think is a good 45 by him titled "stop" on Linco

and another "you and me together" house of roton a nice mid / slow pace modern 45.

    Dylan

"you and me together" is off the LP on House Of Roton, almost totally Country stuff (not surprising as it's called Country Star) apart from that track and one more. There was another 7" taken off the LP called 'Don't Come Running Back' which was country. Not sure of a complete discog though.

  3. Goodness me thats rather nice................cost? availability ?? please ??

    Thanks, Russ

    Cost - Lots

    Availability - Not lots

Most affordable/easy/likely way to own it is on the CD/LP of the Timeless Legend LP Synchronzied that Expansion put out on reissue a few years back that included this and 'I Was Born To Love You' bonus tracks.

  4. Just rediscovered a 7 inch that plays at 33 by the Dynamic Upsetters on Upsetters Records with a solid centre. 'Come on down' is the 'B' side but is the better on IMO the 'A' side 'Dance' is a catchy medley of various soul standards. I had forgotten the tune until I played it this morning.

Thing is I can't remember when or where I bought this other than it is in a sleave with the details of Melvin Moore - All of a sudden / Tenessee written on in my writing. It's good but I can't believe I traded Melvin Moore for it  which I had but haven't seen for years.

Anyway not sure anyone is gonna own up to a trade like that but if it was you and you are reading this can we swap back :thumbsup: other wise any info on this release appreciated.

Had a couple of these, large centre copies, 45rpm on Mega, the same label as Mellow Madness but not in the same league really. Recall the 'come on down' side being ok but not liking the flip at all.

  5. While we are at it, anyone having the other finishing prices of today especially "Save The Youth" (seeing Angela Davis I bet this went for 2500 UKP :boxing: ?)

    Marc

Mellow Madness went for £3214. Quite amusing seeing as the same copy was offered on here for £2500 or nearest offers a month or so back laugh.gif

  6. Few modern bits that I want to move on, I haven't put prices on simply because I don't really know what they're going for and haven't been able to find any prices on the net for them. So sorry but I'm going to say offers....if anyone has an idea on price for any of them please post it up! Paypal or UK cheque is fine

Great Lakes Orchestra - Didn't I Tell You / This Is The Night For Loving - Great Lakes M-

Ron Jonas - One More Time / Cross My Heart - Wire EX+

Bill 'Sugar Bear' Jones - Step Away / My Days Are So Much Brighter - Ne-Bo M-

    Gateway - Can't Accept The Fact / Same - Columbia WDJ M-

Katie Griffin - Stop Look And Listen / When Love Comes Around - Denlatrin M- (demo stamp on label)

The Great Lakes Orch pops up - or did pop up - pretty frequently on ebay - seems to have settled around the £40/£50 mark - was nearly double that.

  7. Be interesting to know why he had a second press done a year later. Did it sell well the first time out then?

Yep. Apparently the first pressing sold well so they did another run which apparently didn't do so well. Some of the (presumably) second press copies were given out to friends and family and those - along with ones he found stored with some 12's - are the one's now available for sale. I'd never seen the 2nd press copies until May of this year but if they weren't distributed widely (or put into circulation as the ebay listing says) it probably makes sense.

  8. Is he in the UK ??

Although I am not that bad !!

As I live in France, I get similiar moans, about my despatch time, although I do state, 10 -14 days for delivery (and I normally despatch that day or next). I offer priority post, no one asks for it, so I have to send via economy. I just wished people would read all the ad, and take note lol, as my despatch time is bloody quick, it's just the post offices who fart about with it !!!

Record I bought from your arrived pretty sharpish mate  . Think mostly it's down to the fact that the seller simply can't be a**ed to trudge down the Post Office (or maybe physically can't get out to do so) Recently bought a record from a pretty well established US dealer. Paid for the item and was told the record would be shipped on a date 9 days from when I paid. Could only conclude they are only let out on certain days. angry.gif It arrived today so no harm done :D

  9. Are there matrix numbers in the run out, if so are they the same?

I mailed him on the question of repressings also and have a reply on my email at home, which I will post up tonight.

I bit the bullet and bought one from his site for $80 last week, but still awaiting a debit on my account, which hasnt come through yet.

If consensus is that they are represses I think potentially there will be a lot of returns.

    John

Matrix details are exactly the same from what I can see. Would this not indicate they'd been pressed with the same plates and as such more than likely be original pressings? Just the blotchiness of the text, the difference of the centre dink and the thickness of the vinyl which made me wonder about them. The edge of the vinly is flat on the one I just got and sharp on the copy I've had for years, also. I'll see what he says when he replies

  10. I ordered "I really love you" some time ago, but haven't received it yet. The one I ordered sounded 'old' and cost USD20, but when I just checked the site again the price has gone up to USD100 and the sound clip sounds 'new' (still same song, but bad production and vocals). Does anyone know the deal here? I just hope I get the old one...

Not sure on that one. I just compared the vinyl of I Wanna Get Into you with a couple of other West Coast 80's things - William Bostic, Khaliq - and the centre dink looks the same, so maybe the text bleed is just a strange quirk. The copies they're ebaying at the moment look more obviously 'old' and not like the one I got so maybe there were two pressing runs on it :wub:https://cgi.ebay.com/Rare-Modern-Soul-7-J-D...1QQcmdZViewItem

  11. Just got a copy of the record from the site. :shades:

Got to say, comparing it with the copy I've had for 6-7 years it looks distinctly different but in a subtle way if that's not too much of a contradiction.

The labels are a different quality, the centre dink is different, the one I just got is thicker vinyl and the text has a kind of 'fraying' around the edges that looks scanned rather than set. The run-out is exactly the same and vinyl has a run-in 'ridge' the same as my 'old' copy, so it's confusing. I've asked him if the copies on his site are recent pressings from the original plates - not had a reply yet and I'm not syaing these ARE new pressings but there's something sort of odd about them, mainly in the quality of the text. I could post scans of both copies as comparison but not sure the difference would really come across. Of course there could have been two issues at the time and these were maybe a second pressing run, would maybe explain the difference.

I've uploaded them anyway - just not sure about them at the moment

(scans don't really illustrate the issue about the text, though it does show it thicker on the right image than the left)

Taking it to really nerdy levels both copies have a small indented circle on the label...on the 'old' copy at the top, on the 'new' one on the bottom so it's a weird one. Just that next to each (hand in hand) other one looks old and the other not so
