  1. ...yeah, kinda thought the same thing really.
  2. That happened (probably still does) at Deep funk except they were breakers who'd dance for a about 30 seconds each in the centre of a circle which took up most of the top floor. Bloody annoying it was - the tourists loved it, though.
  3. Their 'Let Me Into Your Heart' is a nice sweet/group side on Kingston...probably see it lees than Good Loving.
  4. Got my (real) Mixed Emotions - Gold Of My Life out of the middle of my aunt's glam rock singles stash. Think she thought it was Rock(way)
  5. All records sold on behalf of someone else but I'll handle orders and send them out New list here The Tony La Mar has a decent Northern style flip which I've added to the start of the clip before the funk side which is what it's more known for.
  6. PM'd you re: Syng, Paul
  7. Been asked to post this, if you're into albums and 12's Soul Brother's just put out a new list which can be viewed here. They have a discount thing going on too for July
  8. ....christ, can't be arsed to go through all that again
  9. I ordered 75 with the intention of selling them on my mailing list/site, precisely so that people who might not be plugged into the internet's weird and wonderful 24 hour circus wouldn't miss out on a great new release, and also to make it easier for UK folk to get hold of a copy. It's no different to a distributor buying up a % of stock to resell. Resellers buying bulk probably benefits the label too as they don't have to deal with 500 individual punters, taking orders, payment, shipping etc. It's mutually benefical. As it happens I've pre-sold just about all of those 75, maybe if I hadn't have bought bulk some of those folk may have missed out, maybe they'd have bought one already or gone to the other people who bought stock to resell. The record was actually available to pre-order a few months ago as advertised on the funk forum, as loads of people did it that way, so it's not as if there's a cloak of secrecy surrounding this really. If this hadn't all blown up I'd have advertised them on here and on my list when they were actually here and probably sold them all as well. Inevitably people will miss out and copies will most likely show on ebay and go for silly money, but that said, if you've been reading this thread then you'll know where you can/could buy them at a sensible price.
  10. Not sure if this has been asked before but just seen this closed auction Is that just a carver in disguise or has it been 'reissued' with a lookalike label?
  11. Pretty sure that's untrue but I mailed Andy with this so not doubt he'll come on and set the record straight.
  12. Craig Moerer's got some at $55 if anyone still needs a copy
  13. No, to truly 'Hotbox' is to own only one (250 or less) box of records, usually built solely for DJing purposes. As in "Record Collection? Nah, just got a hotbox...all I need really, does the job fine, don't want or need a collection." To 'Hotbox' is to sell off anything you can't or won't DJ with and use the funds to buy something for your Hotbox.
  14. Some of them are now going under the monkier The Latin Soul Project or GTS? https://www.latinsoulproject.com/index.html I'd looked into this a few years ago around the same time a guy from the West Coast tracked them down - think he said he went to see them play one night. Pretty sure he got a record or some tapes
  15. Just looking at his latest ebay auction of the 7" I Wanna Get Into You. Strange that he seems to have used the 12" version to advertise the 7" - has anyone bought one of these 7's and got the version in the clip, or has he just clipped the wrong side?
  16. Pretty sure I saw Neil (funkinsoul) with one on his sale list last week...try him
  17. Not got one but I reckon old Lee must've thought he was onto a winner with the backing track as he used it at least 3 times - Take Me back, Tyra's Song and this...industrious if nothing else
  18. Paid £8 for it ages ago - gotta be at least £80 now factoring in the 'the other one goes for money so now this one should' clause. Prefer this side tbh
  19. Nice to pick up the Natural High issue very cheap a while back - quality tune
  20. Top DJs maybe but obviously shite at finding records - what was wrong with any of the multitude of copies to have come up for sale in the past couple of years, then...too cheap at 30% that price?
  21. Sold my Jamie Ross for £80 last year, it too was mildy off centre as they probably all are. I'd be surprised if it did get spins in modern rooms seeing as it's more gritty funk than anything approaching 'modern'...weirder things have happened, though.
  22. seen it listed at £100....and sold at that
  23. few on ebay I've seen recently made between £25 - £50ish
  24. That sounds like complete crap. Funny isn't it, your bargain gets flagged to buggery and lo and behold the record just happens to be magically 'broken' by a dog knocking a box of records off a coffee table (how many times have bargains been hyped up then ended up being sat on, dropped, mauled by a dog or eaten by a child)...must be a very tall coffee table! Before I finished reading this thread I just said to a mate 'bet after all this the buyer gets welched on'...and f*ck me, carried on to the end and you have been! Unless of course it really did happen (seems too coincidental though) Why not just ask the guy to send the two broken pieces seeing as you've rightfully won it...at least you can still have a rarity, if only to put on your wall or something.
  25. Got the new album on right now in the sunny North East - good stuff, picks up where the last album left off.
