Fantastic New Ltd Valdons 45 - Stop Wait A Minute Girl
Jason S replied to Jason S's topic in Record Sales
Ok so this sold out for me in record time - will be getting more on Weds/Thursday so if you need one pm or email soulstacks@gmail.com Both sides bang! In the meantime, you want to be getting on this. How this was never originally released is bewildering...give it a spin. First vinyl issue of this, so it's an original 45. Class!!! Calvin Harris — Love's Recipe /Wives Get Lonely Too — (Stereo Sonic Recording Corp / Eccentric Soul) £6 https://www.soulstacks.com/shop/calvin-harris-love-recipe-wives-get-lonely-too-stereo-sonic-recording-corp-eccentric-soul/ ...oh and don't miss the J.B Bingham on Soul Junction. Just had all the new releases on the site playing in the background and not a duffer in there -
Finally after months of trying to get this one in stock, these landed this morning: blood, sweat, swearing and ever moving release dates adding to the fun. Half already gone, I think this is awesome - up there with the KGF biggie from a few years back. The back story on this is simple. The Valdons recorded a bunch of unreleased demos that were shelved back at the start of the 70s before fate brought two Twin Cities musical forces together to 'reconstruct' the early sketches and produce a finished article. This first ever pressing of these tracks sees an uptempo, funky soul dancer sharing the same disc as the all-too-brief but killer sweet soul flip side. Don't miss! The Valdons - Stop Wait A Minute Girl/Whatcha Gonna Do (Secret Stash) New £6 UK post £1.70 | Europe £4 | ROW £5 PMs or email to soulstacks@gmail.com Some other noteworthy new releases fresh in here Also well worth checking...

Soul Brother in East Putney (1 Keswick Road, East Putney, SW15 2HL - on the district line) have tons of stuff - more of a focus on 33s but they have got some decent original 45s and loads of good reissue gear. -
Bloody hell, I don't think most ordinary mortal sellers could have bought them for £38! You did well there (pricewise)

In stock now - brand new Soul Junction 45 from J.B Bingham. Two previously unreleased gems: great modern dancer on the 'Ego Trip' side but don't overlook the mid tempo stepper on the flip. Just got stock of four killer 45s from the Eccentric Soul label plus a couple of the amazing Eccentric Soul: Omnibus box sets. The Calvin Harris will be of interest from a Northern Soul perspective: the Flyte Tyme and 94 East are great boogie bangers and the Master Plan Inc is a killer funky soul number: the flip is straight up 70s funk class. Click on titles to go to the site for more info. Email soulstacks@gmail.com or PM J.B Bingham - People On A Ego Trip /She's On Strike - (Soul Junction) New £9 Hear J.B Bingham - People On A Ego TripJ.B Bingham - She's On Strike J.B Bingham is best known for his 1976 modern soul anthem “All Alone By The Telephone/Live And You Learn” on United Artists Records. A second U.A. release “She’s Gone/Keep On Walking” also received some attention from the modern soul fraternity but never reached the popularity of his aforementioned release. Both of these releases were recorded under the auspices of H.B. Barnum and Steve Binder. These sessions yielded a total of 7 tracks which Barnum and Binder then took to U.A. The powers that be at U.A chose the four tracks previously mentioned for release but declined on the other three. So these three tracks then remained unissued until 2011 Soul Junction contacted J.B Bingham asking the inevitable question did he have any unissued track’s? The result of which you now have before you two out of the three unissued tracks, back to back on a 45. The excellent upbeat message song “People On A Ego Trip” backed with the more mid tempo offering “She On Strike” Calvin Harris - Love Recipe /Wives Get Lonely Too - (Stereo Sonic Recording Corp / Eccentric Soul) NEW £6 Hear Calvin Harris - Love's Recipe Calvin Harris - Wives Get Lonely Too Previously unreleased, this 1972 pair of Calvin Harris’ masterfully crafted Earl Wiley-produced sweet soul demos might’ve stayed totally unknown, if it weren’t for Ed Cody’s devious forethought. An engineer at Chicago’s Stereosonic facility, Cody duped himself a submaster reference copy of the complete session. In ’73, Wiley heard “Love Won’t Pay The Bills” on 45–credited to a group called Elevation–and instantly recognized the Cody-engineered track as his own. Nearly 40 years later, through Numero Group research into Stereosonic, Cody, and Wiley, a cache of Cody masters presented themselves for new evaluation. The alternately buoyant and sobering odes to domesticity reproduced here finally grant honey-voiced Harris and the talented Wiley their long-deserved due. Master Plan Inc - Try It You'll Like It /Master Plan Intro - (Mundo records Group / Eccentric Soul) NEW £6 Hear Master Plan Inc - Try It You'll Like It Master Plan Inc - Master Plan Intro This pair of Minneapolis-by-way-of-Chicago tracks masterfully capture Master Plan Inc.’s silky vocal moves and break-heavy, horn-laden funk riffs. Led out of the early ’70s by vocalist Doug Shorts - alongside guitarist Joe Stevenson, drummer Dean Knox, and bassist Eddie Manning - Master Plan Inc.’s brief 1975 furlough in Minneapolis came at an opportune moment, as rising studio wiz David “Z” Rivkin scoured his Twin City environs for black talent. A year shy of his contract-fetching demo for local prodigy Prince Rogers Nelson, Rivkin mapped out the Sound 80 facility for Master Plan, who put down four tracks. Shorts cracked his piggy bank, paid Rivkin for the Sound 80 tapes, and brought them to Chicago, where he paired up at Stereosonic with engineer Ed Cody, for mixing and finishing touches. Plans for a pressing fell through, and Master Plan Inc. sketched out several new lineups before folding in 1980. 94 East - If You See Me /Games - (WB / Eccentric Soul) NEW £6 Hear 94 East - If You See Me 94 East - Games 94 EAST has become a Minneapolis Sound buzzword owing to the fact that Brooklyn transplant and bandleader Pepe Willie hired a 16-year-old Prince Rogers Nelson to add lead guitar to a bundle of his originals at Minneapolis’s Cookhouse Studios in the winter of 1975. Known colloquially as “The Cookhouse 5,” session highlight “If You See Me” makes its vinyl debut here and features on the superb compilation Purple Snow: Forecasting The Minneapolis Sound. The b-side, “Games,” is a 45 exclusive. Flyte Tyme - It's The Things That You Do /I've Got You On My Mind - (WB / Eccentric Soul) NEW £6 Hear Flyte Tyme - It's The Things That You Do Flyte Tyme - I've Got You On My Mind A precursor to the Time, FLYTE TYME was a competitive moretet that provided a vehicle for dozens of Twin Cities musicians throughout the ’70s and early ’80s. The two unreleased songs featured here star bassist Terry Lewis, “Funkytown” vocalist Cynthia Johnson, drummer Garry “Jellybean” Johnson, and guitarist Tony Johnson (no relation). Before becoming FLYTE TYME, they were known as Wars of Armageddon. Various Artists - Eccentric Soul: Omnibus Box Set /45 x 7" Singles, plus box, Book and Download coupon - (Numero Uno) New £220 FREE UK 48 HOUR PARCELFORCE SHIPPING included in price Hear at the site (click title info above) An absolute beast of a thing, this custom record box comes packed with 45 — yeah 45 — 7"³ singles spanning a galaxy of styles, tempos and moods as you can see from the tracklisting below. God knows how much work went into building this monster but the result is a lifetime’s worth of listening pleasure with an amazing book thrown in for good measure. The 45s work out at around £4.90 or something each, and then there’s the reading material which I’m sure is only available with the set. And then you’ve got the record box..and then a download coupon. When you think you’re paying £50 and up for a box of seven motown 45s (as good as that box is) this set represents ridiculous value for money. Ok, so the outlay is heavy but come on, you don’t flinch when you fork out £220 for a battered old 45, huh? Released last year, this is a timeless acquisition that’ll last forever. Hey, and it’s nearly Christmas: have a word with the big man with the red suit.

The Motown 7s box — rare and unreleased vinyl (7 x 7"³ box set) SOLD OUT Condition: NEW (opened, unplayed) Beautifully packaged 7 vinyl set of desirable Motown 45s (see track list below) After reading about the various issues including duplicate/missing records I’ve opened each box to check the contents and all are correct in the (now 5) sets I have for sale. This prevents any doubt and saves having to send back and forth unnecessarily leaving people frustrated and out of pocket. I've also had the pleasure of playing a set right though (so good musically!) and on my system with a 5(ish) month old black Ortofon Concorde stylus there were no jumps or skips. Obviously no longer sealed but you’re gonna open them anyway, right? These are records, they sound better if played, not suffocating inside cellophane wrapping PMs or email to soulstacks@gmail.com Box contents DISC 1 Marvin Gaye — This Love Starved Heart Of Mine (It’s Killing Me) 2:40 The Spinners — What More Could A Boy Ask For 3:12 DISC 2 Frank Wilson — Do I Love You (Indeed I Do) 2:21 The Originals — Suspicion (1999 Originals Best Of Version) 3:07 DISC 3 Dianna Ross & The Supremes — Stormy (2000 Box Set Version) 3:05 Stevie Wonder — Just Enough To Ease The Pain (Album Version) 3:05 DISC 4 Four Tops — Clip My Wings 2:38 Tammi Terrell — All I Do Is Think About You 3:00 DISC 5 Barbara McNair — It Happens Every Time (Album Version) 2:23 David Ruffin — I Can’t Be Hurt Anymore (Album Version) 3:17 DISC 6 The Temptations — Forever In My Heart (This Is Northern Soul Version) 2:52 Kim Weston — You Hit Me Where It Hurt Me (Stereo) 2:56 DISC 7 Chris Clark — Something’s Wrong (Motown Anthology Version) 2:46 Isley Brothers — My Love Is Your Love (Forever) (Album Version)

Mark just about to PM you I played through all 14 sides from one of the boxes I've got for sale on the site - as well as being incredible musically I had no issue with jumping or skips. I use a black ortofon concorde stylus, about 4 months old so I guess there could be an issue with worn styluses (styli?) etc. The Four Tops grooves do seem to wave like hell...maybe it's how the cutter interpreted the sound, I don't know, not an expert on these things...but no skips or jumps here. Cock ups with duplicates/missing items aside this is a really nice box - when they're all present and correct!
-
Ever so slight dish on the Marvin but nothing that bad....and all sets I have here present and correct. Bloody nice looking package this and they sound nice on good needles: suggest maybe those with skippers check needles/tone arms etc.

Great minds...or maybe warped minds!

All gone.

Well, from the 'other side' so to speak I've been trying to get some of these to sell on the site for 3 weeks - countless faffing around by Universal - instock, out of stock, none left, 10 left - resulting in an email on Friday from my rep saying there were 10 on hold. I was in two minds about going through with the order given the almighty cock-up but figured I could do what I advised laurence to do which was to suggest opening/checking etc. So having paid for the 10 copies with an assurance that 'they'll be sent for delivery on Tuesday' it was only when I phoned up yesterday to check when they were arriving that one of their drones cheerfully exclaimed that the order had 'failed'. I was like, but I didn't 'fail to pay up, can I have my cash back please' to which they cheerfully informed me 'No, we can't do that, you'll have a credit for the next f*ck up we manufacture'. Biggest record company in the world not sure which one is it's a*rse and which one its elbow.

Got a solid centre 'Disk Jockey' copy through a few months back. Prefer the 'What's It Gonna Be Side'. -
Yeah, I can see why people would want it sealed when receiving but in this case - and assuming people are going to open them to play anyway - if a shop opens to check it's ok then it saves everyone's time, effort and money: if they're duff Soul Brother will just return them to Universal for a refund...begs the question what Universal will do with them once received...maybe press up the missing 45/s, reseal and resell? Perhaps that's what they should do in individual cases but it'd be a logistical nightmare pressing a few at a time, maybe? Wonder if these were hand packed?
-
I was sweating on getting some of these in to sell on the site: was told on Friday that they'd all gone - sounds like a lucky escape! Bit shoddy for a major label to screw up so royally...amazon can afford to absorb the cost of refunding postage for returns etc but for small shops supplying these and trying to be competitive then having to deal with returns and lost postage costs it ends up being more hassle and expense than it's worth!
-
Looks like Amazon have put their price up by a tenner, too. Sure it was £45 ish a few days back Try soul brother https://www.soulbrother.com/shop/motown-7s-box-set-rare-and-unused-box-set/ for a £50 copy if you need one
