Wayne Carter - Mad Mouth Woman/wahoo, Wahoo, Wahoo
Jason S replied to Jason S's topic in Record Sales
Yeah this is an identical one James. Sure it came out on Aestaurium (spelling?) - guess they decided it was time to make it available again to a new audience? -
Wayne Carter - Mad Mouth Woman/Wahoo, Wahoo, Wahoo (Mootrey's Studio) New £8 Long overdue reissue of this once big funk ‘scene’ two-sider that somehow crossed over to the more adventurous side of Northern and still cuts the mustard on the more ‘experimental’ side of the scene. ‘Mad Mouth Woman’ tells a downcast tale of some guy (Wayne) bemoaning his ‘woman’ (name not known) and her ‘pulled down mouth’ in what must be a scene of domestic dread. The theme on the flip isn’t much perkier but musically the moodiness of both sides gives this an edge. Limited to 333 hand numbered (on the sleeves) copies. After what seems like an age between signing the contract with Roy and taking the box of finished 45s off the courier man's hands, at last these are here! Those who've had pre-orders placed for months - yours are going out today. *Lesson learned: If you can't hold it, don't 'sold' it! You can PM or (ideally) order at the site here Roy Roberts - Thinking About You/Let's Wrap Up Tonight Baby (Country Star) £8 ‘Thinking About You’ is a fantastic dancer that rides along on a groove underpinned by bubbling percussion and spacey synths and with no 7"³ release at the time, it’s the reason that soul people have been hunting down a mainly Country album since it became more widely know a couple of years back. For the flip side of our 45 we’ve chosen a later moment from Roy’s back catalogue, the 1979 disco soul of ‘Let’s Wrap Up Tonight Baby’: a homemade, slightly minimal four minutes plus of raw dancefloor grooves designed to keep the feet in perpetual motion. Soulstacks Records are delighted to offer this debut 7" single courtesy of the talents of North Carolina’s finest, Mr Roy Roberts. We hope you enjoy! This post has been promoted to an article

Yeah Steve I already added that somewhere in this mamouth thread!

Incredibly the new (forthcoming) Sharon Jones album hasn't had a mention. As far as straight up northern cuts 'Stranger To My Happiness' has that immediate, familiar sound that could bring it some action (might need a 45 release though ) The album is rock solid - strong mix of deep, funk, northern, and R&B - pretty much exactly what you'd expect. Got clips of the rest of the tracks here Out in the UK on 13th January
-
Good new album coming out in January too!
-
Still sounding very good to my ears, this banger has been flying out at the latter end of 2013 - surely a sound for 2014. I'm sold out at the moment but have some on the way - probably my last copies. For £6 you can't fall off! Could be the next Kings Go Forth. The other side is fantastic as well...will upload that later. If you're after one you can pre-order one here

Info On 3 Records Needed Please 3 Modern 1 Sixties
Jason S replied to Pete S's topic in Look At Your Box
He's got the Eugene Smiley version on his site at $650 though - different take, but doesn't seem to have the Essence of Love 45 anymore?. https://www.kcityrecords.com/buy/rare_soul_music_collection_i_want_to_share_my_love_with_you/ -
Handful of 45s all with prices drops - some good records here all with clips: give them a spin if you don't know them. You can see them on the website here Also just got my last copies of two of the best 'reissue' (if you can call unreleased records reissues...) that I had last year: He3 Project - Make It Sweet and Howeefeel - People Of The World (now sold out at the label, Ltd to 300 copies and pretty much gone) Two previously unreleased 70s bangers! Email soulstacks@gmail.com or PM to grab anything. 70s Modern/Boogie/Disco Eddie Giles - Sexy Lady (Custom Sound) M- £15 £10 Loud as hell record, rolling, uptempo dancer Blue Notes Standing By You Girl (Glades) M- £10 £8 Steal for the price! Another uptempo 70s Modern dancer. Lang Cook and X-Y-Z Affair - Chocolate Stuff (Evolution) M- £35 £30 Stronger of the two issues, this slightly left field funky 70's Miami moment has legs... James D Hall - I Wanna Get Into You (J.D.H) M- £250 £150 Not one of the recent (as in last 7/8? years) pressings of this record, this is a rare original issue - you can tell the two apart from the different paper quality, slightly different paper colour and the fuzzy text on the 2nd press as well as other details. There's a thread on the subject on Northern/R&B Bobby Boyd - Whatcha Gonna Do About It (Bang) EX £20 £10 Another steal, probably more classed as crossover, this is a faultless 130 seconds of music. Lil & Rene - Keep a Lite (Showerin' Down) (Reprise) M- £15 £12 Gospel meets powerhouse R&B, this is probably under appreciated - give it a spin. Jimmy Moore - Crawlin' (Legrand) EX (wol) £20 £15 From the 'Church Street Sally' guy this crops up probably a lot less than his SPQR outing. Funk Hot Earth Band - Hard Times (Rekan) M- £25 £20 Not sure where this is from but this somewhat forgotten mid-late 70s sounding funk cut could do well with a reactivation Raw Image — Black Bourgeoise (Phil-La Of Soul) M- £50 £30 Still one of me favourties, reminds me of walking back home in the early morning light from Deep Funk with my minidisc player at full blast blissfully unaware of the London mayhem going on at that time of day. *smiles. Two good sides Torques — Bumpin (Lemco) M- £50 £40 1965 killer instrumental from this busy Lexington, Kentucky imprint. Dominated by a parping sax and laced with hammond this a boogaloo/r&b dream. Monster. Pat Hunt — Super Cool (Early Bird) VG £30 £25 A member of the 4 J’s and the Wooden Nickels (along with Brenda and Patrice Holloway) Ms Hunt struck out on her own with this late 60"²s(?) staple funk favourite, the kind of empowerment lyrics that the lasses liked to sing in those days: basically calling out dudes who think they’re all that. It only clocks in at just over 2 minutes but she gets the message across loud and clear. Graded at VG but this is a super loud press and the surface marks don't spoil the effect. Elaine Armstrong — Sad But True (King) VG £100 £75 Not trashed or thrashed — a scuff brings this down a grade but it’s a firm player. Great King label rarity that only gained wider exposure over the last couple of years. Prices seem to wow and flutter but the quality remains firm.

Just landed £1000+ of soul on a nice affordable reissue: sounds good too! Trace of Smoke - Treasure Mind/U.R (Soul 7) NEW - £8 Treasure Mind U.R PMs or email to soulstacks@gmail.com or you can listen/see/order them on the site here https://www.soulstacks.com/shop/trace-of-smoke-treasure-mindu-r-soul-7/ (P.S - anyone still waiting for a Valdons, 94 East, King Tutt etc. from me: all records are 'in transit' - I guess it's xmas and it's all grinding slowly at the moment. Very frustrating. Even more so when distributors start ignoring you because they can't handle whys and wherefores! Bare with me! We won't even mention the Roy Roberts reissue - might need to find an alternative pressing plant for that one...recommendations?)

Just found this. Procedures from this box for $490? Would you pay more for one of the 45s in the box than you'd pay for all of them?! https://collectorsfrenzy.com/details/251177747119/the_procedures_give_me_one_more_chance_magic_mirror_reissue_soul_funk_omnibus

Various - Eccentric Soul: Omnibus Box Set - 45 7" Singles, 106 Page 7" x 7" Hardback book, Download coupon, Record Box. £220 delivered (UK only) Someone asked me about the Northern content in this box so I knocked together a mix of what I picked out as the most obvious Northern bits: kind of hurried so may have missed something but these are a good representation.
