New list went out earlier - here's what's available PMs or email to soulstacks@gmail.com or use the direct link below to buy https://www.soulstacks.com/soulstacks_feature/new-arrivals-list-36-6th-july-2015/ Check out the new mix with some of these tunes here > https://www.mixcloud.com/Soulstacks/the-groove-im-in/ Frazelle - Today Is The Day/ Today Is The Day (Chocolate Cholly's) (EX++) £1750 https://www.soulstacks.com/clips4/01-142301.mp3 Hear Ken Frazelle on the prolific Gastonia based Chocolate Cholly's logo on his most indemand work. Ken probably isn't the same guy from Carolina that plays piano and shares the exact same name. Or maybe he could be? Houston Outlaws - Ain't No Telling/ Uncle Ed's Backyard (Westbound) (EX) £375 https://www.soulstacks.com/clips4/01-142701.mp3 Hear Evergreen northern/crossover winner that just always sounds so damn good. A few light marks take it to EX but it's a really good copy. Flip it for a brutal funk workout - probably under the radar: or has it been outed yet? H Andrews Congregation - Chitlin Circuit/ Stop! Leave Me Alone (Balance) (M-) £150 https://www.soulstacks.com/clips4/01-142201.mp3 Hear His toughest and best funk outing, drawn for the LP 'the Inner Thoughts…' but so much nicer on 45. Bliss - Move It To Another Side/ You Will Always Be (BPI) (M-) £150 https://www.soulstacks.com/clips4/01-143401.mp3 Hear Really scarce 1st issue of the 45 that also came out on Lansel from keyboardist William Braswell's Bliss outfit. I'm assuming this is the 1st issue as the Lansel' 45 has Lansel as a division of Bras productions on the label and I'm guessing B.P.I means Bras Prouductioons Inc (or something like that) Trudy Lynn - Long Live The Blues/ What A Waste (Sinett) (VG) £150 https://www.soulstacks.com/clips4/01-143701.mp3 Hear Despite the title this is actually a decent funky soul effort from Houston based blues legend Trudy Lynn that could easily work in a northern soul context. Oscar Perry produced this scarce record that isn't (yet) listed on Discogs. Plays stronger than visual grade. Whoever gets this has a really good, 'undiscovered' bit of dancefloor soul on their hands. The Gators - Gators Bait/ Wasted (Gatur) (VG++) £125 https://www.soulstacks.com/clips4/01-144501.mp3 Hear Super cool funk instruments from Willie Tee's Gaturs. Lars, I want one of those T-shirts! Sun - Just A Minute Of Your Time/ Organ Grinder (Capitol) (M-) £85 https://www.soulstacks.com/clips4/01-143601.mp3 Hear Big, spacious groove on this undeniable funky soul winner. La Lupe - Fever/ Ooh (Mercury) (VG+) £85 https://www.soulstacks.com/clips4/01-145501.mp3 Hear Bona fide original of this titty shaking classic, delivered by South American firebrand Lupe Victoria Yolí Raymond. Or La Lupe to us. D.A.B Expres - Funky Rufe-Top/ Ain't That A D.A.B shame (Cha-Ru-Wa) (M-) £75 https://www.soulstacks.com/clips4/01-144301.mp3 Hear Ohio based Rufus Allen was a member of Bootsy's Houseguests before embarking on his own project with the D.A.B Express (what does D.A.B stand for? Dayton Area Boogie? That's me guessing.) The Pace Makers - Take Off/ Travelin' Time (Clock) (EX) £75 https://www.soulstacks.com/clips4/01-145601.mp3 Hear Totally unlisted hammond R&B instrumental banger. My google says nothing about this hard, hammond instrumental two-sider. Joe Williams And The Jazz Orchestra - Get Out My Life/ Hallelujah I Love Her So (Solid State) (EX) £40 https://www.soulstacks.com/clips4/01-143201.mp3 Hear Good, big production jazzy soul version. Tommy Navarro and the Sundialers - Summertime/ I'll Be Satisfied (Urania) (M-) £35 https://www.soulstacks.com/clips4/01-145401.mp3 Hear Class version of this classic. Take a listen. Beautiful condition too. Norma Jean - No Competition/ Love Is For The Young (Hep M) (M-) £30 https://www.soulstacks.com/clips4/01-142801.mp3 Hear Decent Senator Jones produced funky soul Fred Ramirez - Hold On I'm Coming/ There Is A Mountain (WB) (VG) £30 https://www.soulstacks.com/clips4/01-145301.mp3 Hear Really good Latino verison of this. Good clubber - familiar, different. Girls will love ya for it. Boys may, too. Chimes - The Beginning Of My Life/ Coming Changes (Down To earth ) (M-) £25 https://www.soulstacks.com/clips4/01-143101.mp3 Hear Ever popular, rolling crossover from the same stable as the Kings Of Soul Jimmy Holiday - The New Breed/ Love Me One More Time (Diplomacy) (EX-) £25 https://www.soulstacks.com/clips4/01-144201.mp3 Hear Mad, frenetic mod soul workout that never fails. Seventh Wonder - I Enjoy Ya/ Missin' Out (Casablanca) (M-) £15 https://www.soulstacks.com/clips4/01-142501.mp3 Hear Bright, catchy, energetic funky soul number. Perfect.

Modern soul with a gospel lilt. Is that Ellipsis I ended up with? Remember Simon T phoning me asking if I knew it - might have been you or Simon saying some 'big name Djs had passed it up as they were'n't sure if it was good' How much was freestyle's Ellipsis out of interest - someone's gone done bought it.

I did reply, saw you read it but never came back. You sure you want it?

Two stonking new release 45s UK post is £2.50/Europe £4/USA £6 - PM to buy or go direct here James Reese & The Progressions - Joker (Where Did You Come From)/He'll Never Go (Najma) (New) £9 Stunning double chunk of previously unreleased Crossover class from James Reese: how this never received a waxing at the time is anyone’s guess. ‘Joker’ is a bittersweet groove with a popping bass, snappy drums and just all the right ingredients to slot itself right into the crossover sound. The flip is a slower effort but no less crushingly emotive: proper listening stuff. Two brilliant tunes at last seeing the light of day! - Hear Hear Samuel D Sanders - Make You Mine (Nigel Lowis Remix)/Make You Mine (CW Remix) (Sundae Soul) (New) £10 Massively indemand Modern Soul (in the truest sense) with a foot in both the past and the now – superb, lazy feel with a Philly feel, this is the bomb! 1 per person. Big list with some big tunes. If you're into the funky end of 70s modern check the Chosen Few Band, 9th Creation and Pure Funk. The Spitting Image is a big former Keb spin (among others) while Billy John is a break heavy funk rarity. Le Cop bangs out a hard underground disco anthem, Cookin' bag is a loud, well produced slab of West Coast funky soul as is the Robbie Hills Affair (great two-sider). At the cheaper the Ola V Harper is a great moody bit of soul that sits somewhere between the soul/R&B camp, Levert Allison, Larry Dale and Tony Northern are all funk bangers while Getto Kitty and Gwen McCrae are 'rare groove' classics. Check out the clips recorded from the copies for sale Free UK post with these Chosen Few Band - What It Takes To Live/ To Love (Buffalo's Reflection) (M-) £650 Hear Cookin Bag - This Is Me/ The Song I Sing (Solid Gold) (EX+) £500 Hear Spitting Image - JB's Latin/ Spitting Image (Masai) (M-) £350 Hear Pure Funk - Nothing Left Is Real/ Searching (Planet Earth) (M-) £300 Hear Billy John & The Continentals - Slap It To Me/ Shooting Squirrels (JIN) (EX) £250 Hear Le Cop - Law, Order & Peace/Law, Order & Peace (K. Hear Gwen McCrae - All This Love That I'm Giving/ Maybe I'll Find Somebody New (Cat) (M-) £75 Super clean copy of this evergreen rare groove destroyer Hear 9th Creation - Much Too Much/ Got My Baby Back (Hilltak) (M-) £75 For me, their best. The same both sides demo are easy, the issue with the killer 70s funky soul 'Much Too Much' are trickier to find. Hear The Organics - Foot Stumping/ Good Thing Going (Compose) (M-) £125 Always a tough record to find, even more so in such a minty presentation as this here copy. Thumper! Hear Barbara Trent - Heart Break Hotel/ The Man I Love (Red Label) (M-) £150 Two cover versions on what was probably Bab's last attempt at music industry fame: what a smasher of a take on 'The Pelvis's' classic. Hear Bobby Williams & His Mar-Kings - Let's Work A While/ You're A Foolish Fool (Normar) (M-) £150 His most indemand: proper 'deep funk' stuff Hear
