  1. That's a great call. I'll look into it. Regards, Dave
  2. I think everyone should sell up. Lets get all the 45s out there on the market and flog 'em off so the price tumbles and we all start from scratch again. Whose going first! LOL! Dave
  3. Play it! 100% play it! It's an unreleased at the time masterpiece. There's a world of difference in my eyes to 'DJs' playing something like this and trotting out 17 dodgy reissues/bootlegs. Some of the Pied Piper stuff from Ady was originally released on CD so when the 45s were done should we not buy 'em and play 'em? Surely that can't be right? Best, Dave
  4. Everything about this story is fantastic! Happy Birthday Jimmy! Dave
  5. Can you confirm that the 7Th Ave Aviators went for £850?? Dave
  6. Can anyone point me in the direction of the following sleeves? Red paper 45 inners. Green thick vintage USA for 8 and 10 inch discs. Any Audiodisct sleeves for 7, 8, 10 and 12 inch discs Any help greatly appreciated. regards, Dave
  7. I don't accept signed for. It's a service that is a pain in the arse for me. I live 20 miles from the Post Office. Many signed for packages are addressed to addresses that the posties here don't actually deliver too. Especially in rural areas. Which means a 40 mile round trip. Whereas regular post gets dropped in my box at the end of the street. Just putting some perspective on it is all. Dave
  8. That's certainly not my experience mate. I've had 1000s of packages delivered from all over the world and only ever had 1 drama (which turned up via Venezuela 3 months late). Juan, my postie would be aghast that his service is regarded as 'notorious'. Dave
  9. I love em all but voted for Mr Jackson. His vocal gymnastics just shaded it for me. Dave
  10. Mr Johnny Stiles, the guy who was one third of The Harthon Trio has passed away Tap to view this Soul Source News/Article in full
  11. In my Top 3 Soul memories (and I have quite a few!). One of my prized possessions. Jason, Johnny, Weldon, and some oik from Burnley. Dave
  12. It's with a sad heart that I have to pass on that Mr Johnny Stiles, the guy who was one third of The Harthon Trio has passed away. With Luther Randolph in a hospice the end of an era is approaching. I'm so glad that he and Luther saw The Philly Book and enjoyed it so much. As is usual in my world at these times I will not focus on the sad passing of a man whose music touched us and whose appearance at the 3rd Hitsville Weekender left us with a raft of wonderful memories. I'll raise a glass to the legacy of his musical life and play a few 45s that proudly bear his name. Sleep well Johnny and our most heartfelt congratulations Sir on a job well done! - Dave

  15. What a great article. The 6 degrees of separation alive and kicking right there! ;-) Best, Dave
  16. Very sad to hear of yet another of that famous gang of lads that were true friends to each other and so many others. Glenn and Dave will have a third stool now as they no doubt spend endless hours enjoying each others company. A very sad day. Condolences to all family and friends. Dave
  17. OK, If no TP forthcoming... anyone got a WDJ they want to shift? Regards, Dave
  18. Anyone have one of the Eddie Holman Hold Me In Your Arms TPs? I have the Memories one and I'd like this one to sit next to it if anyone can help? ;-) Dave
  19. Proper! Bucket list event! See y'all there! Dave
  20. On the subject of returns there are a few of us who believe this mark on many early Detroit 45s is also part of that deletion return system. The mark seems to be a DR and is in the same handwriting. there was also the gold paint splotch that prevented returned unsold stock from being mixed up with full price stock too. Dave
  21. Guys, I'm looking for; The Delcardos -She's The One I Love - Q City anyone help? regards, Dave
  22. Another way to cue on time is to abandon the headphones! Use the lights on the mixer. Simply set up on the run in groove, or turn the platter until you gain a flicker and stop. Technics properly set up will pick up the speed almost instantaneous the minute you start it. You can choose to speak until the lights flicker or go straight on with the next 45. I've DJ'd without headphones for 20 years. They are the Devil's Kit used by people who mistakenly THINK they look cool! LOL! Regards, Dave
  23. FILM LINK Not sure if this has been picked up previously but might be of interest to some members. Regards. Dave
  24. I have 6 copies of THE PHILLY SOUND book back in stock. Makes a great Christmas present so if anyone wants one just drop me a PM or email me at hitsville2648@earthlink.net Regards, Dave
  25. Never say never but I don't think the layout and content would lend itself to a digital release. There are no plans for a digital release at the moment although a second print run is being scheduled. Regards, Dave
