ISSUE #10 of THERE'S THAT BEAT! HITS THE STREETS SHORTLY
Issue #10 is now done and dusted and is at the printers and should hopefully be en route to subscribers shortly. It's another issue rammed with artists pictures, records scans and all in full glossy color. Just as it should be. Between the pages of this issue is the Story of Barry White's early years. It's all here, from his beginnings as a pianist on the Lummtone outings up to his early 70s classic album with Gloria Scott on Casablanca and everything in between.
Bobby Patterson's impending appearance at the Prestatyn Weekender in March prompted us to investigate his catalogue of work and John Smith brings his story to life as a singer songwriter extraordinaire. Mr Patterson is much more than his familiar Jet Star waxings.
Considered by many Motown collectors to be the cr¨me de la cr¨me of picture sleeves we showcase the Gordy empire's output in FRANCE in this collectable format. The French issued picture sleeves contain many rare and unique records whilst the covers themselves offer some fantastic pictures of Motown's stable of artists that are only found on these particular releases.
As usual in TTB! we like to highlight the unusual amongst record collecting and in this issue we feature the story of the Philco Hip Pocket Records. Only 5 inches in diameter and issued with fantastic pic covers the soul output of the company may surprise a few.
Also in this Issue we take a look at a number of clubs and events that are happening in the soul world including a fantastic insider view of New York's Dig Deeper, the venue that is fast becoming a 'must do' as they feature on stage some of the classic artists every month. Recent coups being Eula Cooper, Harvey Averne and Garland Green! Two European Allnighters are also visited and reviewed , one in UK and one in Madrid, Spain.
