  2. ISSUE #10 of THERE'S THAT BEAT! HITS THE STREETS SHORTLY Issue #10 is now done and dusted and is at the printers and should hopefully be en route to subscribers shortly. It's another issue rammed with artists pictures, records scans and all in full glossy color. Just as it should be. Between the pages of this issue is the Story of Barry White's early years. It's all here, from his beginnings as a pianist on the Lummtone outings up to his early 70s classic album with Gloria Scott on Casablanca and everything in between. Bobby Patterson's impending appearance at the Prestatyn Weekender in March prompted us to investigate his catalogue of work and John Smith brings his story to life as a singer songwriter extraordinaire. Mr Patterson is much more than his familiar Jet Star waxings. Considered by many Motown collectors to be the cr¨me de la cr¨me of picture sleeves we showcase the Gordy empire's output in FRANCE in this collectable format. The French issued picture sleeves contain many rare and unique records whilst the covers themselves offer some fantastic pictures of Motown's stable of artists that are only found on these particular releases. As usual in TTB! we like to highlight the unusual amongst record collecting and in this issue we feature the story of the Philco Hip Pocket Records. Only 5 inches in diameter and issued with fantastic pic covers the soul output of the company may surprise a few. Also in this Issue we take a look at a number of clubs and events that are happening in the soul world including a fantastic insider view of New York's Dig Deeper, the venue that is fast becoming a 'must do' as they feature on stage some of the classic artists every month. Recent coups being Eula Cooper, Harvey Averne and Garland Green! Two European Allnighters are also visited and reviewed , one in UK and one in Madrid, Spain. To pre-order a copy simply click here: ORDER FOR ISSUE #10 Or to subscribe to the magazine simply click here: SUBSCRIPTION If anyone's not sure on their subscription status if you email Bev at info@theresthatbeat.com she'll be only too happy to update you. Thanks for all the support from everyone and hope you enjoy this latest edition, it's a corker!
  3. Sold a MINT- DEMO late last year for 150.
  4. Just FYI. I offered 800 for one last Christmas but it was turned down. That was in EX cond. I thought that was a fair price but fair dos if the guy got a better offer. (I think he ended up keeping it though).
  5. Just in case anyone gets confused...this is not the same label from Harrisburgh that was owned by Bobby Fulton.
  6. Soul Ville original label Josie reissue as far as I know. No release on Atlantic. Never seen a Demo of the Soul Ville issue. Anyone?
  7. Are there 2 issues on Lloyd? 2 different cat#s?
  8. I agree. As both buyer and seller it's a pain in the arse. Sales posts less than 24 hrs old have been 'relegated' to too low down to be of any real use whilst old posts, of 50 x's old sales and one or two new ones, are returned to the top and gain what I'm sure people regards as 'second' viewings. As a seller it makes you wanna do the same to compete. I haven't bumped my sales like that but I have bumped my list after a few days, I even felt a twang of guilt doing that. As a buyer it's also a pain. Open a post and either it's the stuff still there from weeks/months ago with a 'ten bobber' added as a bluff or the same post with nothing sold. Answering questions, updating what's been sold are all valid actions on a sales-list post imo but we all know the ones that "rip the tits out of it". A list of 30 records and a bump of "#2 now on hold" is not really in the spirit is it? Maybe a 'word' and a stronger hand of the 'Sales Forum' moderators may do the trick without resorting to changing the layout? It's not the layout that's at fault, it's the way it's being used/abused. Not offered much of a solution there I'm afraid but I hope the input has been of some help in arriving at a conclusion. Best, Dave
  9. There are a few records that once they are in your possession they stay in your possession. Memories to die for. The whole kitchen sink an all!
  10. To be fair to us Barry...it wasn't one of your best Mate.
  11. I've never heard LT with girlie backing. Having said that I'm not sure if I've heard the LP version either so it may be on that one. I also think folks may be getting mixed up with DW on the same label. Anyone post a snippet of the LP version so we can confirm?
  12. Week before the 5th Hitsville Weekender. What a shame, might have made this. Unfortunately I'll be busy 'prepping'. Might be able to convince Styrene to pop up you never know. Who's on in the Northern Room? Is the room open all weekend Andy?
  13. Hey hey, Styrene will be there. Otherwise I'd never know where my camera and dictaphone were! All the girls are coming with us. Really chuffed Mark's gonna make it. I'll get the barman to put 2 half pint bottles of beer to one side for you......don't want you Californian sun tanned Jesses getting too many carbs do we? We'll start a bar-tab for you when we get there though so you'll be there in spirit. What room # you in?
  14. I've told Phil about this before!
  15. I should think so too. Don't come any better. Has it all.
  16. Does he buy beer? If so, please introduce me. If not, sit him in a corner on his own or palm him off on Steve Gainey!
  17. Say hello on the 20th. We may have met already I reckon.
  18. You been in a coma for while or what? Check out the link here: HERE I'll be there on the 20th....see ya there Matey!
  19. Of course! That goes without saying!
  20. Think someone's actually bid on this? Not get many backdrops done on it eh? Ooh Err!
  21. I'm looking for Mint- W/Demo copies of: Cody Black - Going Going Gone - RamRock Sunliners - All Alone - Golden World No wol/sol etc Cash or decent trades waiting. PM me with a price or contact hitsville2648@earthlink.net. Ta very muchly...
  22. A nice W/Demo on Bullet too.
  23. I like a lot of stuff, oldies, newies, fast 'uns and slow 'uns etc but, if pushed, I could never leave out: Edwin Starr - I Have Faith In You or JJ Barnes - Please Let Me In Million dollar sounds for pennies.
  24. I'll take a list when I come over for the Kestral Suite, that way we won't double up on the same ones. Gutted I let The Conquistadors go...
  25. Then run a bit faster and you'll be back for drink quicker! You packed the 45s for Chicago? I've unpacked them and am starting again!
