  1. Mines a nice dark Samuel Adams please. Served at room temperature too Glen if you don't mind. Can't be doing wi that freezin' cold stuff.
  2. I offered Vince a Gwen Owens for 150. No wonder I didn't even get a reply! Guess I'll have to adjust my price.
  3. Hi Carl, I'm gonna stick my neck out here.....you didn't happen to take any pics of Joe and yourself did you?
  4. What? With their backing band? If so....put me down for a ticket for sure!! I have been lucky enough to see them twice, (or rather once he was solo in the 80s). Randazzo was a genius. Combined with the talents of LA&Is he left a remarkable musical legacy. People at the 'top of there game'. ">
  5. I think it's a good idea to post what you're prepared to pay. We all whinge about prices but at the end of the day if you post what you'll pay it saves all the 'tyre kicking' and fookin' about that has crept into the sales on here over the past year or so. I thought the price was a little low too but hey....I'm not onterestec in selling one at that price but someone might be.
  6. I think Frank's had it on permanently since his last visit to MrMs in 1978!!
  7. Fantastic Pic. Cool looking dudes!
  8. That nice Mr Manship has a direction Demo at 15 of your Eeeenglish pounds. Sounds about right. The US copy can be found for a few $$s.
  9. Alan Pollard has a 'reet 'un' he'll be able to answer these questions. Over to you Al......
  10. Wasn't that "Take Away The Pain Stain"? Or were both tracks booted?
  11. Too late........
  12. A nice copy of this went on Ebay last week for 150UKP. Have to say, I thought that was pretty good value. I forgot to bid or I'd have snapped it up at that price.
  13. Gotta be a wind up! MIKE...WHERE ARE YOU??
  14. Maybe the template of the US based tours was used. Rolling Reviews, different town every night, matinees and evenings were succesful Stateside and perhaps Gordy thought a repeat of that would work in UK. I agree though it's strange that Howes and his partner who you would thought 'have had a finger on the pulse' put on such a packed tour at that stage of the game. The other point is that maybe Gordy knew his company had a foot in the door but needed a catalyst to puch it wide open and he saw this tour as that opportunity? I don't suppose we'll ever get the real story now. If you were to ask Berry himself I'd wager he would claim it was a fantastic success and as usuals HIS strategy worked 100%!
  15. Sorry mate.....it's gubbins.
  16. George, Superb info and well put together. Thanks for posting. Always great to get to the bottom of who's who and what's what. These snippets of people lives are priceless.
  17. Keith, Has it got the black A in the centre? Many of them have pen credits but a small black A (printed) on the centre over the spindle hole. If it has I'd be interested in Steve doesn't want it.
  18. I always thought this was a Carolina's beach record. I first heard/saw it at a US record fair around 15 years ago (possibly a little longer), where a well known dealer (from that area too), had about 500 of them. All brand new, mint and looking a little 'too new' if you know what I mean.
  19. Not too sure about that Malc. There's at least one 1965 US 45 that bears the name 'Soul Brothers' as opposed to Funk Brothers. I seem to remember that somewhere in an interview Berry Gordy claimed to have instigated the name change as the word 'soul' was becoming 'hipper' with the teenage audience. Knowing Mr Gordy's penchant for being a control freak in regard to his business at that stage it's probable that he had the final word I reckon.
  20. Same people.
  21. Steve, I've not seen one. The Melvin Davis/Mancha track is on a w/demo, I'm not sure about the LV Johnson though. Hopefully someone will come up both the TP and a W/Demo of LV. Then I'll know to keep looking!
  22. I've been looking for one of these since it was issued. I have a number of Test Pressings that Tim and Martin put out from the Revilot find in the early 90s but never seen one of LV Johnson. Strange thing is that the others (apart from this and the Melvin Davis/S Mancha version of I Need My Baby-which came out as white demo), came out on the Connoisuer label they instigated. I've asked a few times bout TPs of LV and the MD/SM discs but no one has ever confirmed they have one? When I asked Tim about them he couldn't remember! Be interested in seeing if anything falls out of your request Steve.
  23. Just dug out the Money copy and listened to them both. Can't hear no Pied Piper 'sound' Ady. Think I prefer the original version especially with that majestic/fanfare intro. I'd never heard the LP version before so thanks guys.
  24. Muchas Gracias Amigo.
  25. Don't think I've heard the LP version. Any chance of a soundfile Ady/Ken?
