  1. Thanks for all the replies guys, it's appreciated. Now have a better idea of where might suit us. Hopefully see a few of you around the early/mid Dec period.
  2. Must be at least EX. NO wol, sol, H20 or any of that gubbins. Sidney Barnes - Hurt On The Other Side - Blue Cat Demo Servicemen - Are You Angry/I Need A Helping Hand - Wind Hit Cody Black - Going Going Gone - Ram Brock WHITE demo Levon and The Hawks - She Don't Love You - Atco Demo Vala Regan - Fireman - Bob Crewe Production Demo PM or to hitsville2648@earthlink.net Cheers,
  3. Certainly a similarity in the chorus Eddie but a different song to me. I'm not with my 45s but BB's song is a Curtis penned one so if someone checks the credits that might confirm. Can anyone, (Boba?), confirm that the TRC group is the same as the Bashie one?
  4. I'm in UK early December and have been looking at the calender and in the lookbacks section for a few nights to string together. Have to say that I've used this in the past and been disappointed with some of the events. Why can't folks post up a few playlists? "**** played a blinding set, followed by ****** who really had the place rockin' and then ******** kept the dancefloor busy til ***** finished the night off when the crowd were asking for more!" (Usually posted by a 'promoter') is a complete turn off and of no discernible value to anyone looking for a gig to attend. I personally don't want to hear the tried and tested 'names' that play out everyweek with the same playlist plus a couple of changes. I'd rather hear some guys who have deep collections and play their collections out. I'm up for local soul nights that have local collectors playing their wares but don't wanna rock up and hear Frankie Beverly or Moses Smith 3 times. Are there any gigs like this out there? Cheers Peeps,
  5. I'm back early Dec Mate. I'll send it over then. Get me a beer next time we hook up.
  6. Same group? Have both the TRC 45s and the Bashie outing and have never put them together soundwise. Always presumed they were different groups. The Bashie group boasted a certain Mr Mel Britt as a member for a while too.
  7. Russ, I have a mitful of these. Best new release since Nicole Willis, if you aren't sorted let me know and I'll put one aside for you buddy.
  8. Hi Carl, Firstly congratulations on the next stage of your journey. Great to see that you didn't compromise and saw it through. Well done Matey. Now then......where do I buy a couple of promos/test pessings inc the press-sheets etc.
  9. AHA! Thanks Martyn, I also suspect that it was done as a collaboration with Mr Renfro. I'm sure there's the full tale somewhere. I'd been searching for a copy of this for quite a while so I suspect there aren't too many 'survivors'. I also believe this is the oNLY way to own the backing track. (Unless someone knows another?)
  10. I too was a little surprised that Pete's comments were construed as 'arrogant'. I have experience of the UK, US and the European 'scenes' (if you can call them that). Me...I'm more than happy 'dicking around'. It's not any 'scene' that is important to me, it's the music and the format. Had quite a few people comment to me over the years that Hitsville was "Not what we expected". Many seem to think that 'Johnny foreigner' must be a pale comparison to what lots of UK people think is the only place soul music gets played. So long as the music's good and like minded folks wanna gather to hear it in a nice location, I'll crack on. The UK scene to me is just another bunch of people gathering to hear music. Same as any other. It holds no reverence for me, hasn't done for 20 years. In fact...sometimes the gigs I attend there disappoint in many ways. Especially after reading reviews in lookbacks on here! One point I would make about the European scene especially, is that, in my experience, most do tend to 'lean' on the UK 'tried and tested' names for their DJ line. I know that tends to put me off some gigs. Can't understand why they don't unshackle their own collectors a little more, or search out 'new' collectors/DJs from UK a little bit more. Same trait as UK I suppose. One thing is for sure....The age difference between EX Pat 'scenes' and the genuine locally born fans is more than noticeable outside UK. But then that's only natural I think. If you got 250 Ex Pats attending a European gig of 500 then I think quite a number of the locals would think it less 'cool' to be involved. Once again, same trait as UK eh? Anywhere soul music is played should be encouraged, the amount of 'progressive devotees' in UK that have never left it's shores to either hunt down records or just to experience something new does make me laugh at times. Get out from yer comfort zones people, jump on a plane, see what's happening outside the UK's working men's clubs or upstairs pub rooms! You never know...it might put a smile back on some of your faces.
  11. Roy Hamilton - Yellow DEMO? Nevers een one. The only ones I've seen/had were white with RED A. Can you post up a scan of the Yellow one? Or is it just a stocker with a sticker on?
  12. Or.....find something 'interesting' that you can afford and play that. Even Simpler!
  13. To Mike U if I remember rightly. I thought that was a good price for what is a tough W/D to find in good nick. I'd certainly have had it at that if I hadn't depleted the vinyl account the week before. I rtae it at 250 ISSUE - 350 DEMO
  14. It would certainly lend itself to being a boot just due to the fact that there are no other W/Demos on the label. Any deadwax details that might date it? Is there any other way to own the instr apart from this particular 45? Must admit, I'm crap at this bootleg stuff.
  15. Hi Roger, I have the single sided White Demo of the 127 release. Unfortunately I am not with my 45s so can't shed any light on any deadwax details until December but I'm pretty sure it 'feels' right. It's the only W/Demo of any Renfro release I've ever seen. Certainly a puzzler for sure. Once I get home I'll post the deadwax details and see if we can get a definitive answer on it.
  16. Anyone got any definitive info on the Intr version: Renfro Orch - Case Of Love - Single sided WHITE DEMO R-127
  17. Not sure of the connection (long time ago), but I'm reasonably sure that John was the man who got the Satiron disc out with the vocal version of "I Belong To You" on the back of the instr being so massive at Wigan. I've never owned a Satiron copy so is the flip the vocal to "Like A Rolling Stone?" If so I never realised both vocals were on the same disc. You live and learn eh?
  18. There is no 'reissue'. The 'pressing' was a bootleg counterfeit produced by someine in UK as far as I know. This latest 'reissue' one with the date stamp is nothing like the orig or that counterfeit.
  19. The ONLY Original Vinyl are the promo copies distributed to Radio Stations/DJs to coincide with the records release. So all you 'DJ's' with those nasty yellow/black/red/blue et al stockers......stop waffling on like a bunch of precious 'dahlinks' and start collecting the real thing!
  20. Named for his son the late Kae Williams 'Junior'
  21. Shifted two in the last year. One at 550 (VG+) and one at 650 (Ex)
  22. I too am absolutely stunned and shocked by this revelation!! Who on Earth would destroy Southern Comfort by adding the devils spawn to it??
  23. Have you tried this: My link www.theresthatbeat.com
  24. It's gubbins. Sounds like a newly formed Salvation Army Band rehearsal. Used to go for a slash whenever Ginger hammered it! It was always good for 'comfort break', it meant you didn't miss a good record.
