  1. Andy, I've no problem Mate, believe me. Must admit I've been called a lot of things over the years but never politically correct! I don't think you understood my post. It had nothing to with PC'ness but rather about the patronising nature of some of the UK 'scene', and how for some, sometimes it becomes more about 'The Scene', than about the actual music. If you can't see that then that's fair enough, we all see things in different ways. Regards, Dave
  2. Probably the most laughable post I've ever read on here. How can some of you see daylight when you hardly ever pull your heads from up your own arses. Thank fook your a dying breed. "I don't want to sound Nationalistic"....sounds like 'Some of my best friends are black....." Barking, absolutely barking! Regards, Dave
  3. It's the prices that need looking at not the names!!
  4. Nope, I'm, looking for a Lupine copy Mate. Cheers anyway. Anyone? Regards, Dave
  5. Hi all, Looking for Just Brothers - Sliced Tomatoes - Lupine Ex or better. Cash waiting Cheers, Dave
  6. Clipperty Clop gubbins. Regards, Dave
  7. No No No! The sleeves should be left pristine, (both inner and outer), as should the label and vinyl! No writing, stickers, H2O, magic markers, or any of that gubbins! Regards, Dave
  8. He He! Nice one Kev. You spoiling Millie though! ;-) Regards, Dave
  9. Fantastic Pete!! I spent 5 years searching for her a while back when I was doing the Impact/Harry Balk research. She's been 'missing' since Tim A lost track of her. Harry reckons Duke Browner cut two more tracks on her when they were in the studio. Duke Browner's best work was around this time so if someone could dig up these tracks that would be fantastic. Excellent news Pete. Regards, Dave
  10. 2 different groups. As confirmed by Melvin Steals of The Four Perfections. Regards, Dave
  11. Of all the soul clubs I've been to if I had the chance to go back to one of them for one night only then Station Road it would be, (and if it had to be when Lenny Gamble etc were being played then so be it), the rest of the playlists would compensate, without a shadow of a doubt. Nothing has ever come close to recreating that buzz as you entered the record bar, wheeling, dealing, then once deals done, into that cavenous dancehall, rammed with 1500 people all on the same wavelength, while the regular world slept. Wouldn't change a thing! Regards, Dave
  12. Or buy a fistload of 45s from some blocked up, paranoic, gumchewing lunatic! I remember buying TMG 500s (Stockers mind!), at 20p a throw one night. Almost bought the whole UK TMG catalogue! Happy Days! Regards, Dave
  13. Wigan Casino - Best record bar EVER. Regards, Dave
  14. Yep, I too have loads of tapes of the same but my point was, that they weren't competing (some would say torpedoing) professionally set up companies who were producing similar product. Obviously people on the scene who receive freebies are more than happy, it's the professional CD manufacturer/seller who is against it for obvious reasons. Regards, Dave
  15. Because (in general) there were no commercial outlets for tapes, people traded tapes but still bought reissues on vinyl back then, whereas the emerging CD market brought out a whole plethora of professional compilers/manufacturers. Tapes didn't threaten anyone's livelihood but the same professional compilers feel they were/are sideswiped by the 'Freebie CD'. People really need to take the blinkers off and look at the industry in general instead of focusing on what is effectively a drop in the music buying ocean (See Soul Scene) Regards, Dave
  16. The problem is that the recording industry showed no interest in the file sharing that was prevalent as soon as the WWW came about. Now they want to retrospectively put the onus on the customer to 'do the right thing'. . Sorry, but that horse has bolted years ago. In a small focused group of fans like the Rare Soul Scene it's possible to appeal to people's sense of 'duty' to the music creators (albeit a little optimistic given the 'Bootleg DJ' mentallity), but out in the wider world of music it's over, finito, endex. Live performance will soon be the only revenue stream available to artists. Sad? Yep. But the world is leaving the Record/Tape/CD behind and it'll be a curiosity/retro thing shortly. Quoting vinyl sales are increasing is a statistic that has been warped by enthusiasts. Look at the sales of CDs in the last decade even, then compare them with todays sales. The amount of legitimate downloads of music won't come anywhere near filling the void. The REAL moneyspinners are dominated by the manufactured worldwide X Factor/Pop Idol drivel. Dumbed down gubbins for the lowest common denominator. Regards, Dave
  17. DeeJay, You sure yours is the same label design? When I saw you play it about 6 years ago I commented that I'd not seen that variant before. I think yours was the same as the Yellow/Green green labe? (But obviously red). Regards, Dave
  18. Hi all, I'm after The Servicemen - Are You Angry b/w I Need A Helping Hand - Wind Hit EX PM or hitsville2648@earthlink.net if you have one at a decent price and want a new home for it. Regards, Dave
  19. Nice one! Hope everyone has a great night, as I'm sure they will. Regards, Dave
  20. Was also watching this (along with just about everyone else I reckon). Great sound, great label, bit of mystique, what's not to like? Condition was not 100% and a bit pricey but someone will be happy!
  21. Sean, Can't make Jan but let us know the remaining dates asp Mate and I'll make the next one. Good luck Matey. Regard, Dave
  22. I collect Sheet Music and bought a copy of Still Water by the Four Tops a few years ago. That also was advertised as Writing On Paper. Arrived safely and on inspection it revealed the writing was actually the four autographs of the guys under their individual faces on the picture! Result! Can't be many artifacts with all four of the Four Tops signatures on them. Wouldn't trade/sell it for a gold clock. Framed in my record room along with some other nice bits. Regards, Dave
  23. And enjoyed it immensely each time too eh! Ah, the days of all male fartin', scratchin', belching and record huntin'. AND chips for breakfast too if we wanted! Hope you and Little Missy are wel;l Mucker. Regards, Dave
