  1. Ady, Are there any Promos/TPs of the series so far? Regards, Dave
  2. Great Record. Regards Dave
  3. Great info guys. Top Notch! ANSSYBG is one of my favourite songs of all time and I have lots of versions. The Suspension 45 was given to be by my pal Karl Heard and is in my top 3 versions. Always wondered who they were and where they were from? Thanks for posting. Exactly why I still visit SS. Regards, Dave
  4. Hey Up Dave, I'm about half way there is all!! Let a few go a couple of years ago so recalling them home too now. You still 'at it' or things still quiet over yonder? Best, Dave
  5. Watched this......quite enjoyed seeing Eddie Willis still plucking away. Nice one. Nice to see the music being referred to as revered too. Think they tried their best to be true to 'the sound'. You're right about the self promotion, there's no way did they 'reproduce the Sound Of Young America" as Mr Collins claimed. I thought the musicians were good and it was a reasonable attempt but Phil was the weak link I felt. His vocals are way out of synch with the likes of Reeves, Ross, Stubbs, Ruffin etc. Plus...how you gonna reproduce Benjamin, Jamerson, Jones etc. I've heard some of the finished tracks via youtube etc and they are on a par with that other famous soulster Rod Stewart. Worth watching it to hear Babbit play "Tears Of A Clown". 6/10 Regards, Dave
  6. If it's "You're All I Really Need" it came out on 2 labels Burdette and Jerden. Neither are particularly hard to find although the Burdette Demo is the hardest I reckon. I'd say about 30 quid should get you a copy quite easily if you keep your eyes open. Hope this helps. Regards, Dave
  7. Surely this is an oldie from waaaay back. Had one since the late 70s. Thought it was a 50 quidder nowadays. 384? Someone's a happy Teddy Bear eh! Regards, Dave
  8. This weeks last 5 from me: (two off SS too!). Mamie Galore - You Got The Power - Thomas Demo Chuck Bernard - Indian Giver - Satellite Demo Syl Johnson - That's Why - Twinight Jackie Wilson - Somebody Up There Likes You - Coral Mex Pic Sleeve Joyce Lawson - Love Uprising - Mutt & Jeff Regards, Dave
  9. Del Larks - Job Opening Al Williams - I Am Nothing Mel Britt - She'll Come Running Back Billy Woods - Let Me Make You Happy Poets - Wrapped Around Your Finger Larry Clinton - She's Wanted In 3 States Yvonne Vernee - Just Like You Did Me Don Varner - Tear Stained Face Robby Lawson Burning Sensation Lorraine Chandler - You Only Live Twice That'd do me for half an hour. Regards, Dave
  10. Cheers Mick. Thought I'd lost the plot for a while there. I can sleep at night again now! Regards, Dave
  11. Excellent! I've never seen that before. Thanks for posting. Regards, Dave
  12. I also have a minter. If anyone has a Demo in good nick I'd be interested. Regards, dave
  13. Regards, Dave
  14. I think it was booted on both Black and Yellow wax but I've never seen a red wax one. I got the other post wrong...it was Shirley Mathews - My Little Girl that was on the Mirwood red wax boot by SS not Bobby Garrett. So...(sorry but this is buggin' me now) we have... Ckeckerboard Squares - Yellow wax Villa Shirley Mathews - My Little Girl - Red wax Mirwood Lydia Marcelle - It's Not Like You - Red wax Manhattan What was the fourth one? Anyone? Regards, Dave
  15. Not sure where to put this but it's worth watching to the end.... Regards, Dave https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NpmVg_Ip9Ko&feature=player_embedded
  16. I think that's a different boot alltogether. Del Satins wasn't on a yellow wax disc as far as I can remember? Anyone? The Double Cookin one was pressed along with Lydia Marcelle It's Not Like You - Manhattan, Bobby Garrett - My Little Girl - Mirwood and one other that I can't for the life of me remember. Anyone? Regards, Dave
  17. It was also booted on a yellow wax Villa lookalike label too wasn't it? Not sure of the title on this 45 but pretty sure it was under Double Cookin'. '77/78 ish (?) Regards, Dave
  18. Seems a shame that the likes of 'Hip Jeans' and other gubbins get battered at venues when there's quality new music of this stature around. Needs to be in vinyl though to get played at many venues. Regards, Dave
  19. Anyone know if there are plans to release: Drizabone - Don't Break My Heart on vinyl? Regards, Dave
  20. CLASSIC!
  21. We were an inch away from sealing the deal. For some reason once the dust had settled on the meeting Deon decided it wasn't for him. It was one of the worst moments I've had on the soul scene when he backed out, I was convinced he was gonna blow everyone away. He is still a musician and is a tutor/mentor at a school just outside Chicago. He's a lovely bloke and I'm sure he'd have had people eating out of his hands in UK. Ah well, I'm sure he had his reasons. Regards, Dave
  22. Looking to fill a gap here. I'm looking for WHITE DEMOS of the following: Continental Four - The Way I Love You - Jay Walking Continental Four - What You Gave Up - Jay Walking Looking for Ex copies, no wol, sol or gubbins. Any help appreciated. Regards, Dave
  23. Dave, Yep, I also have a yellow promo lp. I rate the US issue as quite rare. 250 seems about right. The song is OK but it ain't no ICTIA. Regards, Dave
  24. Just watched it in the record room. I give it 9 out of 10. Dance off was brill, well acted AND well choreographed! And the ice cream van was a poignant touch. Haven't laughed so much since Life Of Brian! Although I don't remember that Battersby fella being around back in the day! Or that many Morris Minors being around either? Regards, Dave
  25. Autographed vintage promo photo of the great man:
