  1. Off the record is by REGINALD J Bartlette and is probably the most definitive book on the actual recording details of Berry Gordy's empire but can be hard work due to the layout. A couple more books that give good discographies are: Motown - The History. Sharon Davis inc. LPs The Motown Story - Don Waller These 2 above are not definitive about the recordings but do provide adiscography of all Gordy's actual releases. Hope this helps. Regards, Dave

  8. Hi fellow anoraks, As a Palmer 'completist' I saw the recent Peoples Choice 5020 recently sold. It was adverstised as the 'Rarer issue" Can anyone claim to have a 5031 copy of "Saving My Love For You"? In 35 years of collecting and the last 20 looking for a copy of 5031, I've never seen one. Anyone...? Regards, Dave

  11. Hi Ady, If memory serves correctly it was a loose group of musicians who were gathered by Frank Garcia a few years back to promote their and others legacy. Rob Moss would probably have the exact details as I know he and Frank are Mates. I think Stanley Mitchell was also a member before he passed. I'll try and dig out my notes and put together some info. Meanwhile he's the guys with a few youngsters amongst them doin' their thing... Regards, Dave https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dvl-_M2df4s

  18. Having been a heavy duty UK 45 collector up until mid 90s and had most of the sought after stuff, I've never seen even a pic of the Volumes on Pama. You'd think that in this day and age of the 'net there'd have been a pic posted somewhere. 'Fraid I'm also in the 'doubting Thomas' brigade, I'll believe it when I see it. Regards, Dave
  19. If he beats The Count (#1 in my book) or Domar (#2) then he MUST be a complete arse! Must have been worth it fo you worked there Tony. :D Regards, Dave
  20. Yep, That's what I intended to tell the person. I think a little common sense is the order of the day. Although...I have been asked for some outrageous sums of money from artists a number of times for reviewing their material or using an promo image of them. I even helped create a website for one artist in order to publicise his work and was then, 6 months later, contacted by the very same artists' management with a view to paying a fee for using imagery of the artist on his own website! Regards, Dave
  21. I've just been asked a question by someone who is looking to publish images of well known record labels on a website and maybe printed material. I was asked if the images I have used in the past of labels, logos etc are in the public domain or or copyrighted by the owners? To be honest it's not something I've considered at great length before. If I ever use something from another site or a previous publication I've always sought the permission of that site/mag owner but to be honest...do they own the copyright? By the same token if anyone has asked to use images/photos I own I always give permission but do I really 'own' them. Don't wanna get to anal about it all but just looking for some input before I reply to the query. Don't want to give bad advice. Regards, Dave
  22. 100% correct. On occasions the Post Mistress I had would open up an hour early for Bev and I too do the business. Nothing worse than standing behind someone mailing 50 packages! When we first started could be in the PO for a couple of hours! Suppose in a main PO it may be quicker but ours was a nightmare. Regards, Dave
