Right, my little chikadees . Let's see how we fare with another 20, this time without the aid of your cursors! Same 'rules'. You can only post 3 and then have to wait 24 hours before posting another three. Smiffy - Take the dog for a walk or summat! I'll post the correct labels as they are ID'd. Regards, Dave 1- INFERNO 2 - RAMPART 3 - SENTRY 4 - ARISTA- Last one - No one ping'd. 5 - 20TH CENTURY FOX 6 - E RECORDS 7 - GRANDLAND 8 - BIG WHEEL 9 - GEMIGO 10 - VOLT 11- CHALLENGE 12 - PALMER 13 - HIT KINGDOM 14 - JEWEL 15 - SUE 16 - TUBA 17 - Phil LA of Soul 18 - KARATE 19 - ACADEMY 20 - MINIT

In order to take peoples minds off the Import Duty, crappy Ebay listings, increased US postage charges and misgraded 45s I thought we'd have a bit of fun and see if we can work out which labels these ''slices' are from. Few 'rules' so that everyone who wants to can take part and hopefully prevent ''Smiffy'' from getting 95% straight off the bat. 1. Each member can only post 3 guesses at a time. 2. Only one set of guesses per day. 3. I will annotate the 'slices' once identified so we shouldn't have too many repeats. It's only a bit of fun, so no prizes this time round but I might chuck a Gregg's sausage roll in if someone manages a couple that I think are pretty hard! Here We Go....First 20... Regards, Dave

Great to see Gary Clak Jr on the Andrew Marr Show this morning. Thgese guys can really play. Not out and soul per se but a great blend of blues/rock/soul. They write their own stuff too. When you lok at the shyte presented as talent on MSM nowadayus and tyen hear these guys it's like comparing a Morris Minor with a Ferrari. Great stuff. Regards, Dave

Here's another we dug back out a few years ago. Always liked it. Regards, Dave

One of my favourite releases on the label. This was Skip's first record for the label too.I'm not sure whether this is the same Skip as the famous tap dancer/singer but it may well be. I know this Skip Cunningham did TV show presenting. I did research him a while back but my notes are well buried. We revived this a fair few years ago at Hitsville and it seemed to go down well. Regards, Dave

Eddie Parker - RARE! Only ever seen one in the flesh. My Pal Dave Fergie has it. Forget Im Gone on Awake', the Stone copy of Love You Bay ten times rarer. Proper tough ún. Regards, Dave

Always wondered about Thank You Darlin' and If You're Lonely. Two very similar songs/records but so different from anything else he recorded. Regards, Dave

Marcucci was quite a mover and shaker in the recording industry in his early days. His Chancellor set up was distributed by ABC which also owned American Bandstand and as such had a vested interest in promoting his acts on that particular outlet, especially Fabian and Frankie Avalon who were rivals to Cameo's Bobby Rydell etc. Marcucci's initial contact with Hollywood came through his pre Beatlemania A&R roster as they were seen as matinee idols and film companies were more than happy to partner their business with the recording industry in order to exploit that market. Both Fabian and Avalon enjoyed film success under Marcucci's stewardship of their careers. As music fans we often dismiss the business acumen of people as we concentrate on the artistic side of things but guys like Bob Marcucci and his partner Peter De'Angelis weren't just businessmen they were record producers, old school record guys. I think to state that he "started life managing 'manufactered' Pop stars" does him a little injustice to be honest. I'd go along with the sterile style of film and the connections to musicals being a cynical exploitation of the Italian Matinee Idol genre that they developed but they had to have the songs, the studios, the techniqiues, the production nouse to develop their artists so that the teenage record buying public would buy their product. "The Idolmaker" is a little syrupy in places but also accurately portrays the era, even if the facts are somewhat airbrushed at times. Chancellor didn't so much collapse due to a lack of artistic talent but rather drowned under the Brit invasion tsunami, as did many other (and bigger) labels. Once Freddie and The Dreamers '"We Wear Short Shorts" could outsell Dee Dee Sharp or The Tymes in their home town - The game was up! Good thread John. Regards, Dave

I'm a little puzzled. Are we all looking at the same screen no matter what we're online on? I've just battered around The events Forum and can't see what people are talking about. On my screen the boxes show up fine, the events are clearly laid out in a calender and I even posted a coment on an event in order to ensure it worked as it should. I suppose it may well be a case of "ýou get out of it, what you put in' in terms of promoters. There does seem to be a few lazy promoters that think simply shoving a post up is all they're required to dó. It all looks great from where I'm sat, so maybe it's an OS or other issue? Regards, Dave

Here's the link to the Ebay page: https://www.ebay.com/...=item2c6cb36276 Regards, Dave PS. Somebody should give Berry Gordy a knock surely?

Pitney Bowes must have won the contract with Ebay. So....stand by in a few months to delete Pitney Bowes Inc - and insert Ebay just like the Paypal buy out? I'd bet my Del Larks Demo on it. Regards, Dave

Put a list of Soul WDJs you have together and send it to hitsville2648@earthlink.net and I'll be happy to buy a big bunch of them if they're priced/graded correctly. It's the only way to sell cheaper 45s to Europe now. Regards, Dave

Just passing on mu experiences here in Spain Macca. I've only ever had problems with special, signed for, recorded etc. Over 2000 deliveries via regular mail but the 5 times I used anything out of the ordinary - dramas. Either with delivery, or customs. I simply don't bother with ANYTHING other than regular mail. I live out in the sticks, my post Office is 20 miles away and my postie sort of chooses which days top drop my mail off at my Buzon. But packages that won't fit he drops me off a pick up note and I trot down there once every couple of weeks to pick them up. NEVER lost a single one. Nothing but good things to say about the REGULAR mail to and from Spain. As safe as any other and safer than most I wager. Just my experience Mate that may help in future. Your dealer on this transaction owes you an apology (and a few quid). Regards, Dave

That's exactly what I do. I've already changed my buying habits. (I used to buy records on a daily basis), not just Ebay but also other sources too. I think the US Ebay sellers are starting to replace the worldwide shipping options now because no one has bid on their wares. I've contacted a few and most are pretty much just as disgruntled as we are. Of course that's not gonna help when you want to buy a 45 for $1.99 and it costs anything up to $15 to get it delivered. It's no brainer - NEXT! Regards, Dave

Rarest Ric-Tic Of Them All What`s It Worth
Dave Moore replied to georgeblackwell's topic in Look At Your Box
As I'd imagine most on this thread are aware: Edwin Starr RT120 PROMO sold for $327 last night on Ebay. Bit more than I'd like to pay as it was only VG+ and had tape residue on one side. I'd wager someones reasonably happy though. Definitely much harder than the stocker. The god thing is that's another collector 'out of the mix' now so once everybody has one....I'll get it for peanuts! Reference The Parliaments Revilot promo, I had a good result on those just before Christmas. I got three all bundled together. All gone now. Regards, Dave -
