Just a pointer... If you want to post about the night then it's customary to do it in the actual Event thread in the Events Calendar. This place is really meant for DJs to post their playlists. Regards, Dave (Site Mod Team)

Van Mccoy #3 is The Ad Libs #4 is Weldon A McDougal III of course, with my copy of Larry Clinton, that he helped produce. #5 is.... Yep... Bobby Robinson. You got your nominations in? Regards, Dave

Video: the interpretations - snap-out - 1969
What a fantastic piece of footage! I've never seen that before! I think, recorded at 447 North 60th Street in West Philly, in the basement of Joe Stevenson's house! (Same place that Bernie Williams and Gene Woodbury were done), then leased to Haral Records before being released on Bell, who distributed Haral. Carl Helm was a Philly DJ, so maybe he had some connection to Haral? Varell Johnson was a Philly record guy too. He worked with Frankie Beverly's Maze. Great catch Mike. Regards, Dave

Tonite - Northern Soul Bbc Living For The Weekend
Can't let that pass Mate. The really sad thing is that you put the chance to enjoy the company and sing and dance alongside LEGENDS, in their own back yards, alongside their family members in many cases, behind some kind of 'holier than thou', misguided loyalty to a scene a million miles away from the people who actually created the music that's at it's very core. eg. Me: "Hello Mate, Can I help you with that drum set?" HIM: "That would be great!" ME: "Jeeze, that was hard work, fancy a beer now we've finished" HIM: "Sure, what they call you?" "ME: "Dave, you?" HIM: "Willie, Willie Henderson, I'm with the band". The Soul Trips to the US were fantastic if you sucked it all up. They were hugely chaotic by their very nature. You never knew who was going to turn up next. Many of us were running round like blue arsed flies in case we missed anybody. I'm not talking just major stars here I'm talking people like group members who you'd given up hope of ever meeting, they came out in droves to be honoured by people like me and lots of my mates. (And in most cases put a few $$s in their pockets). And for those memories alone I'll always buy a beer for the people who set it all up. Not falling out with you, but just putting forward my personal view. Regards, Dave

Tonite - Northern Soul Bbc Living For The Weekend
I gave it only a 1 I'm afraid. Mainly because I thought it was boring! Same old talking heads telling same old anecdotes (with a couple of new ones probably thought up the day before?) Just saw it as an ad for a film by vested interests, which will probably also bore the arse off me. Maybe it's just me, but none of this affects me, affects what I do, or influences me at all. And to top it all off......Waterman, Blackburn, Stansfield, Norman Jay (MBE...ooooh!), Stringfellow etc! But no Goodies doing Black Pudding Bertha!? What's all that about then? Not enough in these programmes about the music I feel. I enjoyed Martin Freeman's Detroit documentary much more. And NOTHING will ever match Ian Levine's TSWONS. Regards, Dave

Dave, I'd have thought this was at least as hard to find as the others on the logo. I've only ever had one of these whereas I've had or had the opportunity to own many a Tony Middleton or Edwin Starr demo. Great record. Regards, Dave

Soul Source Hall Of Fame
A number of Members have suggested that Soul Source could establish a Northern Soul Hall Of Fame which the site believes could be a great asset. Not only would it give recognition to people who we, the fans, actually believe should be recognised but, if developed in a way that inductees have their own page(s), bios and whatever else is deemed worthy, could in fact create a place that could contain information about our heroes/heroines all in one location. So to that end Mike has given us the go ahead to see if we can get it off the ground. Ms Lorraine Chandler, who first suggested the project and I will do the initial legwork but it's planned that Members of the site play a full part in it's development. It's envisaged that it would work in a similar fashion to the US based HOFs in that a Board with a cross spectrum interest would select inductees from a list of nominations in a series of categories. Therefore the first thing to do is to ask for volunteers for The Board. Please don't feel that you need to be an intense anorak or that you've not been around long, enough, don't collect 45s or are excluded for whatever reason. This will only be worthwhile if it's the result of a broad mix of fans. If you're a Northern Soul fan, you're qualified. We're looking for an initial six volunteers and each Board member will share an equal responsibility. You can volunteer via this thread or via PM if you prefer. Looking forward to hearing from anyone that fancies pitching in. Lets see if this great idea is doable. Regards, Dave
