  5. This night came about because my ex-girlfriend interviewed Ian Levine around 18 months ago. He told her he loved DJing but didn't get offered many gigs because of the hatred surrounding him. It took quite a lot of convincing him, but he came round because we told him that the majority of people out there still love him and what he has achieved. I make no excuses if people feel he has done them wrong, but we must respect him as a human being. If it wasn't for Ian, there is little doubt that we still would not know about a lot of soul records... and we would still be unearthing them today. Best of luck with this gig Eric. As someone who felt exactly the same a few years ago, but was then treated like a complete numpty by someone who ruined what could have been a "scene changing" event I think your "daft as a brush" Mate! Keep him on a leash and you just might stand a chance. Let him loose and you'll get the same treatment we did. Good luck Mate, Hope it's success for your sake. Regards, Dave www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
  6. Shite. (Was going to put imo after this comment but can't bring myself to do it. It's shite). Regards, Dave www.hitsvillesoulclub.com

  11. It's a booklet in which some of the worlds "greatest bassists" celebrate the art of Jamerson. Comes with Cds or C90 tape that compliment the text. On Ebay regularly. Great artifact to have. Recommended to any Motown Fan who ain't got one yet. Regards, Dave www.hitsvillesoulclub.com PS. The Motown "instrumentals" are great imo. Doesn't add anything, just gives you a chance to appreciate the musical side of things. Let's have more I say!!

  14. Hi Gang, I know Henry Stone and he will have some involvement in the Hitsville Project. Thanks for the tip Pete. Good idea, I'll get onto it. I'm really looking for someone who is not "working" now but would be happy to pump some life into a story and maybe make a few shekels along the way. Come on guys..........you must know somebody. Regards, Dave www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
  15. Hi Gang, The Hitsville Project I am currently working on has thrown up an opportunity. There is media/TV/video interest and I have been asked by the production company involved if I can help in locating any Northern Soul artists who live in the SE states with a view to them participating in a documentary about the "music America is now rediscovering". Interviews and the like. It would seem a shame to pass up a chance to get some exposure for the artists we love and so....if anyone has any artist contacts in the SE States and would like to see them given a push then please email me the details. Royalties and residuals are available. Any new product etc would be given a platform too eh? Any info boys and girls??? Regards, Dave www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
  16. Wakefield Unity is correct. Old Pat Brady stomping ground. We used to pile over there from the Buff Club in Barnoldswick in the mid 70s. I too remember an announcement over the mike that there was a dodgy substance about and that people should be aware of the danger. The whole "horse pills" seems familiar. The gang from my home town lost quite a few to the drug craze, but it was mainly as folks "progressed" to the hard stuff and barbs really took hold of a few too. Shame..... but there you go....as comment earlier said we were young and indestructible. Yeah right! Regards, Dave www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
  17. Bit slow off the mark there eh? Anyone else got any? In fact.....anyone got any: Promo Store Cards Unusual Billboard Ads Stand Up Trade Ads Any Gizzits Regards, Dave
  18. Which ones and how much? Regards, Dave www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
  19. This is the only one I have of theirs. Regards, Dave www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
  20. Always had good service from John for over 20 years, and in fact if you dig around in his catalogue there are still some nice bits to be found. Buy for tomorrow NOT yesterday is my motto. Too much competition for the medium rare oldies nowadays from the returnee wannabee DJ crowd. As far as some of the astronomical prices are concerned. All sorts bid on his auctions. Loads on here have admitted it to it in one breath and then "complain" about someone else doing it a week later! . And if you want to sell something, loads of people go scuttering off to John's hoping to make a killing. You can't have it both ways can you? VelVets on 20th Century Fox at 450 quid! Scary stuff indeed! But rekkid collections are like the stock market, they are only worth what you sell them for. If you don't sell then they become valueless in monetary terms. Therefore my 30 year collection is worth absoulutely NOTHING. And that's just the way I like it!! Regards, Dave www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
  21. Hi Jamie, Wouldn't dream of being judgemental about another collector mate. If I came accross as that then I apologise unreservedly. As I said, each collector does his own individual thing. I just get a liitle wound up at times when non vinyl collectors seem to want to "point out the error of my ways" all the time. I'll still be "at it" when the latest set of "soul heroes" are long gone again. See, as we all know, there's a distinct difference between a collector and a "person on the soul scene". Nothing right or wrong about either......it's just that they're different animals imo. As far as the toilet roll fiasco is concerned. I always found that there arsewiping ritual a bit of a waste of time so never had to buy the stuff. Which of course meant ANOTHER twopennybobshilling W/Demo came my way! Regards, Dave www.hitsvillesoulclub.com PS. Welcome to the "uninformed knobber" club anyway. I've been a member for just about all my adult (ish), life!
  22. Nosh? Sleep? Family? Nosh? Can't afford too much nosh as it all goes on the licclkeblackroundplatikkyfingswotweluvs&treshures Sleep? There's loads of time for this when yer dead. Family? Tossed them wasters out years ago Mate! Became too much of a drain on the vinyl resource! LOL! i know what you mean mate. That's why I'm a big believer in "cut your cloth according to your means" and respect EVERYONE who does that. Best of luck hunting mate. Regards, Dave www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
  23. I can confirm that Sheridans is up for sale. I've spoken to Rodz and he has asked me to let it be known that it is up on the block. Any entrepeneurial soulie wanna ready made business running allnighters etc? He has also asked me to convey that all the current allnighter/soul do bookings WILL be honoured and hopefully will convey to the new owner as part of the 'deal'. Regards, Dave www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
  24. Hey Dodger, Yer like a dog wiv a bone!! Let it go man......get over it......us "uninformed knobbers" ain't gonna change the habits of a lifetime just coz you're a tight bastard who won't spend owt on real records so has to buy cheap disco shite! LOL! Regards, Dave www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
