  1. Jason, You need to get out to soul "dos" a bit more Mate! Regards, Dave https://www.hitsvillesoulclub.com/homepage.html
  2. Hi There, Been asked to find out if there is US versions of this on DVD? Anyone help with info? Regards, Dave https://www.hitsvillesoulclub.com/homepage.html
  3. Hi all, Couple of things from Hitsville here in the US. The Radio show is now all set up and running. Licenses took a while to sort but we're now 'at it'. All legal n like. Simply got to the website and click on Radio Show. Rest is simple. First show is a Motown/Unissued/Forgotten tracks type of thingumijig. The results of the Windy City competition are also in. They're available on the Yahoo Group Site. Winners will recieve their "stuff" middle of next week. Am going to the first All American "soul do" tonight. Will post up a playlist of the stuff our colonial brothers/sisters are playing if relevant. Have a great weekend. Regards, Dave https://www.hitsvillesoulclub.com/allniter.html
  4. Err, NO!! by the way, congratulations Mike on the nuptuals. You get my messages about the October Gig? Regards, Dave https://www.hitsvillesoulclub.com/
  5. Strokes for folks Ted and all that I suppose. For me PERSONALLY, it's the thin edge of the wedge. I've seen DJs play boots/pressings that have never SEEN a copy of JD Bryant etc never mind owned the bleedin' thing, and use the previous arguement as a reason why that's acceptable. As I say....strokes for folks. You wanna sit at home and drool over your minters, that's certainly anyone's perogative. Me...I like 'em out there blasting through speakers like they should be. Regards, Dave https://www.hitsvillesoulclub.com/
  6. I paid 70 UKP for the purple issue which I then traded for W/Demo. (less than 6 months ago) The lilac issue is hard. No doubt. 400? Think I'll stick with the W/Demo then. Regards, Dave https://www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
  7. Fantastic Joe Evans production. In my top 10 of all time. I have a W/Demo that I wouldn't part with, (You can see/hear it on our website), but I would reckon JM is about right on this one. You don't see it as much nowadays. Regards, Dave https://www.hitsvillesoulclub.com/
  8. There's more than one "collector" DJ who plays things like this. When I questioned one of their actions his response was " Well I paid a lot for the originals so I don't want to ruin 'em". RUIN 'EM?? You mean your frightened they won't stay in mint condition for when you sell them in a couple of years time?? You Dickhead! My response...."I'm oughta here". I left the venue there and then with steam coming outta my lugs! The influx of "returnee" collectors has led to things like this being on the verge of "acceptable" to a lot of them. I will never understand why people have to change things that aren't broken!! Oh yes I remember now............then again......"nuff sed!" Regards, Dave https://www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
  9. The name of Rod Jordan is a psuedonym for Grant Higgins. Ollie McLoughlin thought Grant's name was a disadvantage so he made him change it for this, the second release by Grant on the label. Not particularly soulful, but a reasonably hard number to locate nowadays if you're trying to complete the label. Grant Higgins went on to play with a number Rock N Roll and Beach groups. his nephew Weldon is writing a book in tribute to Grant which will include his Detroit "era". All useless info but then that's what makes us what we are eh? Regards, Dave https://www.hitsvillesoulclub.com/homepage.html
  10. This that CM has is just the normal Promo no? Regards, Dave https://www.hitsvillesoulclub.com/
  11. If you get a copy of the upcoming "Soul Up North" you'll find a recent picture of Matt Lucas. We at Hitsville are preparing a full article on him and his time in Detroit with the likes of John Rhys, Ollie McLoughlin, The Volumes, Shades of Blue, Jamerson, The Charmaines etc etc. Should be out around end of October. We are also preparing a website for his personal use that you will be able to contact him and even buy some of his unissued stuff hopefully. Matt Lucas is best known for his Rockabilly product. He is massive in Scandanavia where they have a big Rockabilly/Blues following. He also plays the Rock n Roll festival circuit in UK where he is at the moment. If you're interested in his non soul stuff, check out: https://www.rockabillyhall.com/MattLucas.html Regards, Dave https://www.hitsvillesoulclub.com/
  12. I've been looking for this for over 10 years. Not too sure about it being a hit though? His other one MC Twine sold reasonably well locally in Detroit on the back of his Rockabilly hits, but I don't think "Baby....." did much at all. Even Matt hasn't got any left. If anyone has one for sale I'd be interested. Regards, Dave https://www.hitsvillesoulclub.com/
  13. A real collectors perspective. Same as mine. Price when buying is all I've ever bothered about. What they fetch on the open market once I have them is irrelevant. They ain't going no where, therefore once I have them tucked in the boxes, they become worthless in terms of $$$$$. Lots of "collectors" don't seem get it eh? Regards, Dave https://www.hitsvillesoulclub.com/
  14. Paid $5.00 for one on eBay about 6 months ago. Think it's worth more than that, but not much more I would have thought. Maybe a tenner? Regards, Dave https://www.hitsvillesoulclub.com/homepage.html
  15. Dave, This is very nice! As a Motown collector of over 25 years, I haven't seen more than about 3 or 4 of these ever. Where did you get the scan from? Be interested to know if you eventually find one and how much you paid. Good luck with hunting. Regards, Dave https://www.hitsvillesoulclub.com/homepage.html

  21. I would Mate, but her indoors would strap me to her pick up and drag me unceremoniously through the back briar patch naked if I was to even think of taking the immoral shekels in exchange for her beloved liccleblackplastikfingswotsheluvs&treasures. Good luck with the hunting though. Regards, Dave www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
