  1. Revived a couple of years ago at Hitsville. Glad our kid was listening! Regards, Dave
  2. The latest owners were also running the place as a studio/rehearsal space/theatre but it had been refurbished a lot. Joe Tarsias Gold Records were still on the wall on my last visit. The city itself should step in in these cases in my opinion. Americans always comment that we (UK), have so much preserved history but then allow theirs to slip away. Cameo and PIR were two companies that ran the world as far as US pop music is concerned and did it in different eras. Something that should be celebrated and preserved for future generations. The destruction of Philly's physical connection to it's glorious musical past is only equalled by Chicago's. Shame on them for their short sightedness. Regards, Dave
  3. There'll soon be nothing left. Shame on them. Regards, Dave https://www.bizjournals.com/philadelphia/blog/real-estate/2015/02/building-that-housed-sigma-sound-studios-sold-will.html?ana
  4. Moi... cynical? Absolutely! It's all about opinions I guess. I have an intense dislike of bootleg 'DJs'. Especially ones that use the, 'It's all about the music' as a smoke and mirrors excuse for what they do. That ain't never gonna change Stephen. Proper records by proper people will always get my vote, so if I'm in town at any time and yer gigs on... I'll make an effort to get there. Regards, Dave
  5. Went from playing real 45s to Bootlegs? Kinda tells you what the priority is I think. Just another poor 'wannabe DJ' pretending that it's 'all about the music' when in fact it's nothing of the sort. It's all about a desperate need to stand behind crappy kit playing to a few of 'your punters' (bleaurgh!). Can't get any bookings so start yer gig. Nothing to see here folks... happens week in week out. (And NOT just in UK now either) Regards, Dave
  6. The category is already there. I'd expect John to be nominate at some stage. Problem is to be inducted, you have to first be nominated. Regards, Dave
  7. Topic moved from Site Issues Forum/ Regards, Dave (Mod Team)
  8. Has anyone asked Mick Smith or Butch what they played the instrumentals off? (Vitrtue?). Billy did tell me that it was Tommy Keith. It was the one thing he was adamant about? You have some other provenance now Steve? Regards, Dave
  9. It's a Philly production I'd wager but not credited to Harthon, it's Billy's own production company (Be-Jax). But given the time line and the Virtue backing track I'd also wager that it's got Dynodynamics' Luther and Johnny in the mix somewhere? Of course the vocal could have been dubbed in NY? Billy's recollections of the session were sketchy. Regards, Dave
  10. Yep, Nige is correct No WDJ. Regards, Dave
  11. But then where would these 'promoters' play their boots the following weekend. One weekend a 'promoter' next weekend a 'DJ'. Ere... when did that Godawful word 'promoter' sneak up on us anyway? D
  12. People aren't buying these boots because of what's in the groove. Hence it's mostly the lookalikey ones that fetch the money. It's as if a counterfeit meant to deceive has more credibility than a carver for a quarter of the money. Also... if no one cares what labels these DJs play their 45s on then why do the actual 'DJs' spend a £100 on a bootleg that could be got for next to nothing if it's all about "It's What's In The Groove That Counts". I think we all know the answer to that though eh? Regards, Dave
  13. The difference is: 1. There's no real market in the US. Otherwise rest assured, the bootleggers would be at it there too. 2. The US doesn't suffer from a legion of 55 year olds desperate to relive their youth by standing behind some cheap turntables for an hour so bluffing their way. Regards, Dave
  14. I've never seen a Mayfield Demo like that. US? Is there a Canadian copy? They sometimes printed white copies of early Curtom stuff. Regards, Dave
  15. Topics merged. Dave (Mod Team)
  16. Thought this might be of interest to people. available as an E-book too if that's your thing: https://rosemariemccoymusic.com/products/thought-we-were-writing-the-blues https://www.amazon.com/Thought-We-Were-Writing-Blues-ebook/dp/B00SVYJMLU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1423498197&sr=8-1&keywords=Rose+Marie+McCoy Regards, Dave
  17. Yep, Different label Mate. That first one was actually owned by a guy called Bullet (Or similar) I think. Regards, Dave
  18. Glad people are enjoying them. Hopefully we'll add up to date photos of the artists shortly too. ;-) Regards, Dave
  19. Malc, If you like, you can send a scan to hitsville2648@earthlink.net and I'll try and integrate it Mate. Regards, Dave
  20. As Mike has said, Linda was one of the initial Inductees from our very first round of Nominations, hence her actual Induction was dated 1 Nov 2014. It takes me a long time to get the pages ready for upload but we're slowly getting there. We're already into round two of nominations but I'm not going to rush them. The recipients don't deserve that. Hope that explains why Linda's page has just appeared. Regards, Dave
  21. Feature now edited. I'm obliged c haps, nice one! Regards, Dave
  22. Hi Russell, If you send them to hitsville2648@earthlink.net that would be great! Regards, Dave
  23. Well spotted Sir! If someone can send me a scan of both sides of the EP label I'll edit it. Cheers Mike. Regards, Dave
  24. Err.... she is the first Female Vocalist Inductee. Keep up Mate. Oh, and I've swapped out the swear word and replaced it with something more in tune with your East Lancs roots. No swearing allowed in the Hall Of fame. Regards, Dave
