Kev, There were literally thousands of these EMI discs that were used to record "rare" sounds on back in the 70s. With the advent of vinyl carvers etc there is now the opportunity to have just about "anything" on vinyl and have it described as an acetate. The quote the seller made is true apart from the important bit. It's NOT an acetate it's a complete boot. Great record ineed. The thing with JM's auctions now is that if ANYONE in UK wants to move a "rarity" then the odds are it's John that does it for them on commission. Of all the dealers (professional and part time), he consistently achieves more for records than others. I daresay that most of the auctioned items over the last few years have not been from JM's "stock" at all, but rather from ours! The "collectors" LOL! Paul, A good way to listen to what other souklies are listening to is to join the numerous CD swap clubs. Get your Dad to show you round the Hitsvil site and then join the Yahoo Group List. Surely we've been collecting long enough to know what's rare and what isn't. I don't use guides for pricing (as I suspect a lot of other long time collectors don't), good for references though. After 30 years, the way I work is...... if I ain't seen it, I reckon it's rare, if I've literally seen hundreds then it stands to reason it ain't rare. That's the quandry of The Collecting Scene innit? Rarity = Current Price? You're havin' a Turkish (as another Soul Sourcer would say! LOL!) Anyone else stopped buying "big ticket" items for a while? I like to think that I get on well with most collectors/dealers etc etc however....... I say it LOUD and I say it PROUD - Bob Ellis is complete TWAT! Always has been, and always will be. Useless!
