Edwin - Scotts On Swingers
Hi John, Can you confirm you had a copy of RT-121 on a White Promo back in the 80s? I can't find it now but I remember it being listed by you in the small booklet lists you used to send out. When I called you said Carl F had snapped it up. Do you remember? I've never seen one, but have always had it "logged" since then. Reference the RT-122. Toughie. I suspect there are lots of Ric Tic collectors who are short this one. (Including me! ). Our "definitive" list of Stockers and Promos is growing and we'll get there in the end. 6ts 100 Club Jan 20th All Nighter Cancelled
Just wanted to add that I think it's the people, the artists, the DJs and the records that made the 100 Club what it was. Change of scenery it may be but I've no doubt Ady et al will ensure it's "business as usual" wherever the venue. Onwards and Upwards Mr Croasdale! Thanks Everyone
Shame on them! Absulute f**ckin' disgrace. Have had 3 dealings with the guys that "serve and protect" here. An absolute F**CKIN DISGRACE in all three instances! Macho, bully boys with the public's protection and interest taking a bottom priority whilst sick leave, overtime, benefits, free donuts and the demand to show some "respect" far higher on their list. Heroes...every one of em. Don't get me started on the Boot Camps! Hammy, hope your health is on the mend and no permanent damage. If you get the chance take them to the cleaners! This is how "The Man" treats the weaker members of society: I've seen the video. MURDER. Absolutely! How many times did they get away with it. Or how many Hammys were there on NYE? https://www.heraldtribune.com/apps/pbcs.dll...9/APN/612294261 Regards, Dave https://www.theresthatbeat.com https://www.hitsvillesoulclub.com

Fascinating Facts No 1 - Lester Tipton
If I remember correctly Lamont Dozier cleared up the Dunbar - Wayne conundrum last year once and for all. Apparently they were the Invictus Office cleaners! Great stuff! Regards, Dave https://www.theresthatbeat.com https://www.hitsvillesoulclub.com

Fascinating Facts No 1 - Lester Tipton
Nope. The OJays lost a member in 1972. I suppose that counts as change to the line up. How about The Dells? #1 hit? Regards, Dave https://www.theresthatbeat.com .https://www.hitsvillesoulclub.com

What's This All About ? (ebay Related)
Just a coincidence that it leaves the door open for people to shill bid their own items and attempt to push the price of items up then? Result.... Ebay commission increases, as does the dreaded Paypal charges which they are now "pressurising" buyers and sellers alike to use. The sheen of Ebay gets duller by the day. Yet Again
It's a great record. The Volumes also did a fantastic version of it too. Shades of Blue were desperately unlucky in the fact that Ed Wingate already had the Relections on his books. All the SOB records are worth listening to imo. Blue Eyed soul at it's best . They KNEW what they were recording , they set out to CREATE soul music that they were immersed in and surrounded by on a daily basis with Golden World, Impact , Edwin Starr, Duke Browner et al. Their success with Edwin's "Oh How Happy" financed a number of further 45s that went on to become classics. Full story in the current issue of There's That Beat! Could We Get A Northern Tune To No 1 ?
I think the SP DeSanto case is slightly different Pete. She lost her husband, her home, in fact everything she had, in one fail swoop. You are of course right that the more successful artists could be expected to step in and help but they rarely do eh? We raised $637.22 for SP Desanto and I for one am glad we did it. Not just because she was an "old singer", but because she's simply an old lady who needs help and I felt we could give that help without too much grief to our own lives. I also think that doing something charitable every now and then is good for your health. The Gambian Project and other beneficiaries of soul events give people an opportunity as individuals to enjoy themselves and spread a little cheer in what can be a crappy old world at times eh? Anyone who knows me well will vouch for the fact that I'm not exactly a tree hugging, animal loving, social concience type of bloke, but every now and then it don't hurt to give some one a leg up. Just a case of deciding who I suppose. Just my opinion. Regards , Dave www.theresthatbeat.com www.hitsvillesoulclub.com

Chris Bartley Picture Sleeve
The lady on the pic sleeve is indeed Ms Spotswood. As confirmed by her personally earlier in the year as we were preparing the Van McCoy piece for the magazine. It's also (as stated by Roger) correct that the same picture was used on the LP. Regards, Dave www.theresthatbeat.com

Price Info Please
Bit ambitious the Sonny C price I think. Musette copy probably around the 200 mark. The Teri De copy half that I reckon. Regards, Dave www.theresthatbeat.com www.hitsvillesoulclub.com

Curse Of The Chat Room
Yeah, thanks for that Baz. I'm sure all the contributors who regularly slave over their keyboards and drag stuff from their record boxes, or track down folks to interview, or try and provide a vehicle for artists who are struggling against the tide of MTV PR, appreciate the professional critique from someone so positive. That's the second time on this forum someone has 'branded" all glossy mags as crap/pants. Just out of interest, do you actually READ any of them?
