  1. Hi Brian, Been played at all the Hitsville do's. Jeff Lemlich of Miami was responsible for us lot hearing it a few years ago. Great rec ord. Regards, Dave www.theresthatbeat.com www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
  2. Nice! Not an easy one for sure. Also hard to find a MINTER. 'Spose coz all the DJs etc pummelled it at the time. Regards, Dave www.theresthatbeat.com www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
  3. Nice one Pete. Great clip. Regards , Dave www.theresthatbeat.com www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
  4. Hi Roger, I have the RnB time White Demo too. I think one went through Ebay only last week coincidentally. Definitely a lot lot harder than the stock issue though. Little Joe Roman's too. Tough! Managed to get one but it has the dreaded XOL! John, Thanks for the kind words ref: There's That Beat! Appreciate it . It's a real team effort Mate. Lots of guys behind the scenes. Regards, Dave www.theresthatbeat.com www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
  5. I shall be (dis) gracing the dancefloor to this on Saturday night whilst simultaneously trying to prize it from the hands of a young man who will be spinning it in California I hope. I reckon people who want this should form an orderly queue behind yours truly. Stop shoving at the back!! Regards, Dave www.theresthatbeat.com www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
  6. Hi Jo, Yep, I know some folks are trying and the footage from the Tempts DVD is especially good. I just sometimes get frustrated with industry 'experts' who have all the so called business acumen, but not a rhythmic bone in their body to use with it! Sooner Disney end up with all this unreleased material,(music and video) the better. You watch them shovel it out like it's going out of fashion! And they'll turn a nice profit. In fact I'm gonna call 'em now.. Regards, Dave www.theresthatbeat.com www.hitsvillesoulclub.com PS. If the guy in your avatar is something of a musical hero, then watch this space.
  7. Hi Roger, Not sure how I missed this thread. However ....I also have the "Atlantic" Demo of Theresa Lindsey and the stocker on the 'Detroit' one. Also have the stocker of 'It's Love'. "You Had Me Fooled' - I've got on stocker and I've got to admit I don't think I've ever seen a W/Demo of it. Does anyone even know of anyone that has one? I suppose looking at it logically there's absolutely no reason to suspect that it wouldn't exist though eh? Logically?!! I can't believe I used that word in a posting about 45s! Regards, Dave www.theresthatbeat.com www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
  8. Then there's a whole shedload of footage out there that no one's being paid for. All this (DCPs) attitude is lay the foundation for even more bootlegging. It 's the same with Universal innit? They won't release it , so someone else does, then everyone gets snotty about bootlegging. Sometimes the 'suits' need a kick up the arse. Regards, Dave www.theresthatbeat.com www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
  9. I spoke to Sugar Pie DeSanto this afternoon. She is how you'd expect a lady of her years to be holding up. She wanted me to pass on her 'eternal gratitude' for the being in the thoughts of soul fans. I also received this from Jim Moore (no relation!), her manager . Hello Dave, I did receive the money order for $637.22 and Sugar Pie and I thank you and the fans. My best, Jim Moore So, well done boys and girls. Regards, Dave https://www.theresthatbeat.com/ https://www.hitsvillesoulclub.com/
  10. Wotsacd? Regards , Dave www.theresthatbeat.com www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
  11. I would have thought Kenny Smith and James Fountain would be MASSIVE nowadays as "newies", surely? The old adage "quality will out" could have beeen devised for records like these. I also think that there are more collectors/fans around now that are more open minded about different styles of black dance music than ever before. Just my opinion of course, but I think most long time collectors have mellowed as their knowledge and 'ears' have matured. Still struggle with the clippity clopperty RnB stuff and the 'sampled' stuff though I have to say. Regards , Dave www.theresthatbeat.com www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
  12. Hi all, Sorry to bring bad news...Mr Pookie Hudson passed away this afternoon. I've only just received the message. Details to follow I'm sure. RIP and congratulations Mr Hudson on a job extremely well done Sir. https://www.soul-patrol.com/soul/pookiehuds...thespaniels.htm Regards, Dave www.theresthatbeat.com www.hitsvillesoullcub.com

  16. I just saw a pig fly past my window!! Regards, Dave www.theresthatbeat.com www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
  17. Chris, If you don't get sorted, get in touch offlist Mate . I'm out to LA this weekend. See what I can dig up. Regards , Dave www.theresthatbeat.com www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
  18. I think the last person to speak to Ms Barnes was Tim A, back in the late 80s. I recently tried to track her down for the Impact /Inferno feature I did in the mag. No luck I'm afraid. Even checked the National phone book from Alaska to Florida as a last resort! Harry Balk told me that he's pretty sure there were two other tracks cut by her with Duke Browner at the helm over the same session period. Now that 's enough to get yer slobbering innit? Regards, Dave www.theresthatbeat.com www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
  19. Hi Mick, Think you may find that the Revilot group were a different line up Mate. Graham Finch has produced a fantastic piece as he tried to unravel the differing line ups of the Hollidays groups at: https://www.soulfuldetroit.com/ Also, anyone who like Mancha might wanna pop along to: https://hitsvillesoulclub.com where if you click on 'artists' you'll find Mancha's sixties work featured including soundfiles. Regards, Dave www.theresthatbeat.com www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
  20. Great record. Was gonna buy this blind a couple of weeks ago but was put off by someone. Never bothered. I'll get one now. Cheers Pete. Regards , Dave www.theresthatbeat.com www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
  21. Hi Roger, The late Kae Williams owned Junior Records. He also owned a number of record stores "back in the day" in Philadelphia. The label was named after his son Kae Williams Jr. Junior is also a record producer in Philly and played a part in the production of the Shirley Slaughter CD with Weldon McDougall. I spoke to him (Jr) back in April and he was flabbergasted that anyone knew of his fathers label never mind actually collected it! This particular 45 = Great sides ...both of 'em eh? Regards, Dave www.theresthatbeat.com www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
  22. Hi John, Can you confirm you had a copy of RT-121 on a White Promo back in the 80s? I can't find it now but I remember it being listed by you in the small booklet lists you used to send out. When I called you said Carl F had snapped it up. Do you remember? I've never seen one, but have always had it "logged" since then. Reference the RT-122. Toughie. I suspect there are lots of Ric Tic collectors who are short this one. (Including me! ). Our "definitive" list of Stockers and Promos is growing and we'll get there in the end. Regards, Dave https://www.theresthatbeat.com https://www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
  23. SOUL - "If I have to keep explaining it to you, then it's obvious you aint never gonna geddit!" Regards, Dave www.theresthatbeat.com www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
  24. Hi Guys, (RT-134) Damn!! My apologies. I own the bugger too! Please feel free to kick me up the arse every now and then if I get lax. Regards, Dave www.theresthatbeat.com www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
  25. Just wanted to add that I think it's the people, the artists, the DJs and the records that made the 100 Club what it was. Change of scenery it may be but I've no doubt Ady et al will ensure it's "business as usual" wherever the venue. Onwards and Upwards Mr Croasdale! Regards, Dave www.theresthatbeat.com www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
