  1. Only really got one pet hate as far as soul is concerned... Looking at old sales lists from Soulbowl and JMs etc from back in the day and kicking myself for not buying every single 45 on there when I should have. So many records......so little time....(or money depending on what time of the month it is! ) Regards, Dave www.theresthatbeat.com www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
  2. Never understood how the Nabay 45 ever found itself the object of the "soul police". It's a fantastic record, completely dominated by it's Mike Theodore and Dennis Coffey arangement. Powerful Drum/Bass line, simple chorus, great hookline, decent vocal, all creating an atmospheric dancer. Some would say.....Err.... all the makings of a Northern Soul classic. Nabay was in fact a local Detroiter, although he was of Lebonese descent. Regards, Dave www.theresthatbeat.com www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
  3. Thanks guys . Much appreciated . GEOFF...I pm'd you but it looks like the syste m isn't working 100% yet. Can you email me at hitsville2648@earthlink.net Cheers, Dave www.theresthatbeat.com www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
  4. I'm looking for a copy of the cheapo LP that The Contours "Baby Hit And Run" was first played from. I think it was on the reissue Sounds Superb (Woolworths) label although memory might have gone and it may ell have been MFP or Pickwick or summat. Anyway, anyone got one for sale? Or at least a good scan of the cover and label. Any help appreciated. Regards, Dave www.theresthatbeat.com www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
  5. Bought both Mel Britt (Barrie Waddington) and Nabay (Casino Record Bar), and was playing both at Concorde Soul Club in 77/78. If I had 'em by then, so did lots of others. Unfortunately the Nabay was traded on and hasn't been replaced yet. ....Damn! Regards, Dave www.hitsvillesoulclub.com www.theresthatbeat.com

  8. Yep, No biggie Mate, Take it or leave it. That's exactly what I do. Just an observation is all. Regards, Dave www.theresthatbeat.com www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
  9. I'm not selling any 45s here so I'm hoping this is the right forum for this, if not could the moderators please move to correct one. Ta. I buy records on a daily basis, I sell odd bits too, but wouldn't class myself as a dealer as I only do it to raise dosh for more records for my collection. I receive lists from all over, probably 10 a day at least, as well as checking the usual online locations same as everyone else I expect. I am one of those colectors who after 30 yeras has learnt that patience is a virtue and so I tend to wait for stuff, as I know, just like London buses, usually three will be along sometime in the future. So, here's my observation. There's a lot of folks "chancing it" with their sales in the sales sections at the moment dont you think? It's becoming like a series of "reverse" auctions. Put summat up at a ridulous price and see if some Herbert bites, if not, drop it a bit a few days/weeks later and see what happens. People who own the said overpriced records then come on and bolster the price by saying I would rate it at..(insert insane amount here), simply because a. They personally paid too much for theirs. or b. They bought theirs from a source that is 50% dearer than the majority of collectors. or c. They have one and everyone likes to think they got a bargain. I used to buy quite regularly from S Sourcers, but have only bought 2 in the last 3/4 months and they were both at top prices, (but were absolute MINTERS though, which is important to me). So here's a question? What percentage of sales on S Source do folks think actually sell? It'd be better if dealers allowed a few non dealers/collectors to chip in before claiming that you can only speak for yourself, but you sell 95% of your stuff. Not wishing any confrontation with any dealers, (God Forbid! I might need you in the future ), just looking at a trend and wondering if any other collectors have any thoughts? Or have I dreamt it all? Regards, Dave www.theresthatbeat.com www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
  10. Hi Mike, They're around on a regular basis Mate. Around the 50 of your Breeteesh Pounds should secure you them (each). Someone who's paid 100UKP will now come ond say 100 but I paid $78 and $97 to upgrade to better copies of mine in the last year. (Demos too). Patience is a virtue. Hope this helps. Regards, Dave www.hitsvillesoulclub.com www.theresthatbeat.com

  12. I was always under the impression that the Yellow Linda is actually the DEMO of the purple Issue? Are there two issues of the Linda version? ie. A Purple Demo? Regards, Dave www.hitsvillesoulclub.com www.theresthatbeat.com
  13. This is not a definitive answer Roger but here's my theory as a number of the label's discs appear on both label designs it's as good as any I reckon. Joe eventually got access to credit line from Columbia and I think he may have paid cash for his first runs and then later used the credit line to press up extra copies to either: a. Cash in on a successful local hit. or b. Relaunch the single a second time. The strange thing is the way the label went from Clown/Bike design to the other one for these second(?) releases and then returned to the clown/bike logo. Maybe that 's the clue to option b. Probably way off the mark, but it's theory eh? Regards, Dave www.theresthatbeat.com www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
