  1. Looking a bit grubby that one Mark, might wanna start looking for a new one!
  2. Not an unusual state of affairs with artists memories from 40 years ago. Unless it made the Hot 100 and lots of $$$, many artists simply forgot about their recordings/labels/issues etc. Hence they balk when they realise the UK bootleggers have had them over.
  3. In my top 5 records of all time. Has it all. Great vocal, exciting, vibrant backing track, great to dance to, hard to find, just about one of THE archetypal 45s that define Rare Soul. Fantastic record. Shame the 'players of presssings' have overplayed it over the years and it's now a somewhat blasie sound. Used to travel 100s of miles to hear records like this.
  4. Masters Four - Case of hype over substance?
  5. Definitely Issued. Think Ted has a Stocker. Great record.
  6. Not seen. Not heard of one either. Be nice to think there's one out there somewhere eh?
  7. T'other sides quite nice too. Anyone any info on Lanie Hill? Or Kenny Wells on the same label?

  9. See, If you were a "Norverner" you'd have made last Saturday - no dramas. Glad to see you onm the road to recovery Matey. Had us worried there for a spell. Hopefully see you out and about this coming Winter. Regards from all Stateside
  10. Marcus, You know Juggsy, Scouse Mercer, Jake Prosser, Phil Foskett, Tom Finney?
  11. You got one for sale Ian? If so please email me.
  12. Fantastic book. If anyone has a copy in decent shape I'll buy it from them. Must have spine intact and no wol etc. Cash waiting.
  13. Thats the bugger. Well done Chalkster. Knew I hadn't dreamt it!
  14. Wasn't Hadley Murrell was the label owner of Wind Hit? Out of Arizona and then moved down to LA? There was a US based CD of Hadley Murrell's stuff a few years ago. It included alternate versions of one of the Wind Hit songs I think. (Can't remember which one now).
  15. I trust a visit to the Moore residence for the Dick Family will be included on this trip? Cold beer and warm beds awaiting Matey.
  16. Rhythm Nation is the place your refering to I think. It's on Colonial Ave (Hwy 50) accross from Church Street. Been a while since I was there but I remember it as a waste of time. In fact the whole State is a soulvinyl desert as far as shops are concerned. Flea Markets are almost as bad. There are one or two 'outlets' still like Bananas (Tampa), Sunshine (Daytona), maybe one or two more on the East Coast but it's really not worth the effort most of the time. It's people who have records now not shops, and the internet has almost detroyed that avenue now also. As a dealer of some repute once commented "More chance of finding soul records in India than in Florida!" If you're in the Ft Lauderdale area you might wanna give Jason a call. He's got lots of stuff. Don't expect to find a "dumb Yank" though Mate.
  17. Roccia, Sir, you are indeed a gentleman. I hope he reads this and does the right thing. Everyone has the odd drama now and then, that's accepted. Paypal goes wrong, Ebay goes wrong, telly blows up folks overspend now and then etc etc. My problem is when people just 'disappear' on you and don't communicate properly. I like to think I'm a pretty fair bloke and I send 45s to people before they pay on a weekly basis. Never had a drama before. Hope you get sorted Mate.
  18. Thanks ofr the PMs guys, just an update: I've spoken to to the guy who 'bought' the record. He siad he would pay me via paypal last Tuesday alas, no payment. In his defence, he has a problem with his computer. He's then said he's gonna send me the cash. I'm hoping the guy is true to his word as I don't really wanna name and sha me him. But I will if I need to. Brian, Thanks for the offer, but our Mick will go pick it up if needs be. That should do the trick. Roccia, It's unacceptable Mate. If three months after you've paid you still haven'y got the record in my opinion, you are well within your rights to name and shame the person. You have shown more patience than I would my friend.
  19. Wimp! Only joking Mucker. Glad he's on the mend. The Hitsville Crew are "at it" this weekend and Russ' contribution will be sorely missed. We'll have a scoop and turn up the volume at the 'DJ Villa' for him. Continued good recovery Matey.
  20. Tommy, I'm not 100% sure of this...but ...I think as Derek has alluded to it's to identify the returned credited stock. Basically when stock was returned to distributors, shops were given a credit for them. This returned credit stock needed to be identified so it couldn't be put through the sytstem again. Sometimes it was BB hole, or in this case it 's the gold splash of paint. This is what I've alwsys been led to believe. Here's another one for you ....why do so many Miracle/UA/ records (Stock issues only) have the initials DR painted on them? Anyone? Take the Jimmy Ruffin - Don't Feel Sorry For Me - Miracle, I've had a bout a dozen , all from different sources, but all bearing the DR mark? Same theory perhaps?
  21. Or maybe try and influence the music at the established venue? Of course that can work against you too. In the 90s a few of us got together and ran a few 'do's' in an upstairs room of a local hotel. Only held about 100 people. Free to get in, as the music policy was "play what you want'. Likes of Andy Rix, Tim Brown, Rob Thomas, Barry Waddington and a few others came up and did sets. All for free. A guy came up and asked me for Little Queenie. Told him "Sorry mate, can't play records like that here - not that type of venue", you could have knocked me down with a feather when 5 minutes after I left the decks the record was played by another resident. "Got to keep the dancefloor hapy' was the excuse. We only did one more. Didn't seem much point in continuing if all we were gonna do is play the same records as the other venues within a 20 mile radius. Went back to house parties!
  22. Can anyone get me the phone number of the guy I was asked to send the 45 to. (This is not the guy who bought it, but the address I was asked to send it to.) Anyone know this guy? Any help appreciated. Paul Gregory Ashton-on-Ribble Preston, UK
  23. Barnoldswick: Topics - Hey Girl (Where Are You Going) - Chadwick Had a "DJ" stand next to me and say "Great record that Dave!"
