  1. The Book is a totally different project Paul. There are obviously a few people that were featured in the mag issues (The Harthon guys for instance), but the info is updated and expanded in those one or two cases. Regards, Dave
  2. Channel 3 on Dakar. Numerous copies every month show. Still sat on dealers 'online' shelves with 'daft' prices stuck on 'em. Go back in another 6 months.... they'll still be there! LOL! Regards, Dave
  3. A Spanish TV Crew asked if they could film a documentary of 2 young Spanish fans 'soul journey' during the Benidorm International Soul Fiesta in May. I know the 2 Spanish lads very well and agreed. Both Mick H and myself were interviewed and managed not to make horses asses out ourselves and the 2 Spanish lads did equally well but sure as eggs are eggs it was all interspersed with 'rinse and repeat' footage from This England. Even AFTER explaining to the producer and the front man that that was a false image of what we're about nowadays. If there was visually impacting, vintage film or video of TOTW, 100 Club, etc they'd use it. Anything that has a visual impact. Thing is... media folks are ONLY interested in visual imagery. Any substance or intimate detail, if perchance it does materialise in any production, is more by fluke than design. Dave
  4. Caught him on TV this morning.... anyone know who his white, middle aged, piano player is.... completely stole the show! Besrt I;ve heard in a couple of decades! Dave
  5. I was in Electron on my last visit to Burnley, bought a copy of OJays - Love Train - UK CBS. £2.00). More out of sentimental loyalty than anything else. LOL! I completed just about the entire UK Motown LP catalogue from The Record Exchange on Standish Street in the late 70s. All in the 50p-£1.00 range, although I think he had Earl Van Dyke down at £1.25. (I still have lots of them). Happy Days. Regards, Dave
  6. I often thought that Boyz To Men would have done this justice. Not that the original needs improving. Regards, Dave INTENTIONS

  17. Here's a link to what is probably the definitive book on the history of The Chitlin' Circuit. Don Robey's massive contribution to it's development as an outlet for black music is also portrayed in good depth. Some of the anecdotes about the early days are real wild west stuff. Great book and highly recommended to SS members with an interest in this stuff. Regards, Dave https://www.amazon.com/The-Chitlin-Circuit-Road-Rock/dp/0393342948
  18. From memory, the 'second issue' of "That Girl" has the song title in much slighter/smaller case font . Regards, Dave Like this one here...

  22. Hi All, I'm looking for some photos of JJ Barnes for an upcoming project and wondered if any members had any stashed anywhere? With his appearances in UK I'd have thought people had them somewhere. Be great to show some pics of him with fans or on stage in UK etc. Full credit obviously given for any contributions. 24. Not sure if this young lady has been highlighted on SS yet but here's a video of her performance of the Johnny Brantley produced classic. Not quite sure if it's different enough in tempo and style to really make the song her own or not. She can certainly sing but for a first outing should she maybe have chosen a new song? Thought it might be of interest to members... Lucinda Slim Video Regards Dave PS. Not sure what's happening with the 'quote thing'
  25. Good Luck to the Malta Soul Club. Hope you go from strength to strength! Regards, Dave
