  1. Nice one Phil. It's not you is it?
  2. I noticed in your profile you say "Stockport and Valencia" Are you in Spain perchance?
  3. 45 now sold. Thanks for all the interest/
  4. And they say the age of chivalry is dead? Hope it was a 'real' one John and not MickeyDs"
  5. Kinnel! Found myself agreeing 100% with JT! Need to go lie down now.
  6. Emailed you back.
  7. Peoples Choice being played? Copy in Sales section for 100 in trades if anyone's interested.
  8. An issue of this Detroit 45 just sold on JM's auction for 187. Not sure if this is currently being played or not but I have a nice almost minty W/Demo up for sale/trades. Would much prefer a decent 45 in trades but first decent offer of cash will take it. Paypal OK but unfortunately you'll have to see to the 4% thieverey they call fees. Looking for something around the 100 mark
  9. CLASSIC OLDIE?
  10. Hey Bob, Great job. Just enjoyed the whole interview. Fascinating stuff, thanks for taking the time and trouble with the interviews, they're a 'must do' when the new ones are uploaded. Thanks again.
  11. Here's a few classics. I always loved the 60s 'look' of these labels. You don't have to listen to know they're 60s, just looking at 'em tells you:
  12. You live in hope though eh? I suppose you're right, I expected something a little better than this though. Ah well, maybe next time.
  13. OR There wasn't one single fight at the Casino with 4 million visitors over 8 years.
  14. Not at all Pete, I'm saying that as DEFINITIVE HISTORY (and that's what it was billed as), it came up extremely short in my opinion is all and I'm afraid I found it very boring. Same old people droning on and on about what THEY perceive as the history of soul in UK. It's more like THEIR history in my opinion. No mention of the music at all hardly, it was just background. Egos out front, music at the back. Not much changed there then eh? "The majority of the people were Northern labourers for whom the Mecca was a fantasy from their dull as dishwater lives." - Romanticism gone wild. The James Brown comment sort of summed it up. I'd say the description should have said 'potted history". That would have been nearer the mark.
  15. Found it just a series of well worn cliches, trotted out by the same people as ever. Of no interest/consequence to me whatsoever I'm afraid. Only so many times you can listen to the same old 'revisionist' anecdotes without thinking...Oh Dear, not again?! It's just boring is all. Couple of quotes did make me cringe...
  16. Chris and Marcelle, See you in September at the Hitsville Weekender. You can be justly proud of the promotions you did. The Philly releases, Ronnie Walker in UK, various allnighters all over the place. Looking forward to seeing you kick back, chill out and just ENJOY yourselves with like minded people when you get over here. The beers are on me.
  17. Best post of the whole thread!
  18. Mr Clinton was a lounge singer in Philly. Luther Randolph took him in the studio against his better judgement as he "liked a drink" and had very little ambition but was happy singing in the supper clubs. When I interviewed the Harthon trio last year none of them knew his current wheareabouts. The rarity of the stocker is due to the fact that Dynamo Records was set up by Jimmy Bishop as an appeasement to the Harthon guys. He'd stitched them up with Arctic. But he never really got behind it and in their opinion was actually instrumental in it's failure. No distribution, no PR etc. The record itself is in my top 10 of all time. Outstanding intro! Get's the juices flowing right from the opening crash bang whallop!
  19. Last I heard Kev Murphy had the stocker. I had both the stocker and the demo in my hands in the mid 90s within weeks of each other. Could have bought both for the same price, opted for the W/Demo as thought that red label would look crap in my 'D" box! He He! Regrets? Never!
  20. YUM YUMS definitely on Stocker. It appears as part of the Jerry Ross story in the next Issue of There's That Beat! www.theresthatbeat.com
  21. WOW! First time I've ever seen that Roger! Excellent! Great uptempo song too. Great how we keep picking up on records that are truly hard to find, but don't seem to cost the earth when they do appear. Great stuff. Tyhanks for posting. .
  22. Hi Paul, That'd be great Mate. Big Thanks to everyone again. The VH on Colossus is the last one. Fantastic response, and it's much appreciated.
  23. I would have thought so, unless it appears on any other LP (US or foreign?) prior to that.
  24. Much obliged Amigo. The JR feature has shaped up really well. Most of it in his own words.
  25. Still searching for these guys if anyone can help. Also looking for good scans of: Virgil Henry - Ain't Sayin'......." on both Colossus and Tamla. Any help appreciated.
