  1. Anyone else see the Team answering questions on Holland Dozier Holland songs? Q. Who is the artist on this track? (Cue "Can't Help Myself"...) A. Otis Redding. Ignoramus! He did know the the latin name for the segment of the molecule that is linked in a vacuum with the nucleus of the nitrogen atom when electrically charged though!
  2. Hi Kev, You are indeed correct sir. Dug it out, for some reason I thought this was Canadian. Memo to self: Get new specs!
  3. Canadian copy is also bright red I think.
  4. Are these people for real? Or are they cartoon characters! Can someone please put them out of their misery.

    Wanted

I'd pay 300 for one. (Cue some wannabee DJ/Collector telling us it's an 800 quidder now, because that's what they paid.)
  6. Tony Clark, Sonny Sanders and Robert Bateman. Pure Class.
  7. In my top 5 of all time. Upbeat (Mid Tempo my arse!), great young femme vocal, kitchen sink production. Great record with great memories attached.
  8. Fantastic! Great to see Spyder having a good time. Great stuff Carl.
  9. I know the feeling! Would have loved the Patrice Holloway that just went on JM's auction but couldn't warrant the price tag for a 45 that was gonna sit filed in the 'V' box. I suppose for us "Ordinary Joes' those days are gone. Ah well....plenty of other stuff to chase eh....Onwards and Upwards!
  10. Understandable? I'm not sure I get your drift. What exactly do you mean by understandable? Are you saying that you vews such actions as acceptable because someone else does it? Surely not?
  11. PURE - UK. Just another example of the way the country is now. The chav mentality has even permeated the soulscene although I can't imagine a 'real' promoter stooping so low. If they were your flyers have you confronted them? If not why not?
  12. Best of the bunch: #1 - Mike and The Censations on Highland. Played it out in Hamburg earlier this year - Great dancer.
  13. My three 'treasures' would be 1. Issue #4 of There's That Beat! autographed by the following: All three of the Harthon Producers (Weldon A McDougall III, Johnny Stiles and Luther Randolph). The greatest saxophonist and arranger in the soul world Mr Andrew 'Mike' Terry. Motown's premier percussionist Jack Ashford. 2. A picture of my good friend Alan Pollard with the Harthon Trio. Took a lot of effort to get this to happen on all our parts and it was worth every last hassle. 3. An autographed pic of Sammy Campbell, Sonny Turner, Myself and a demo of the greatest record ever played at a soul gig imo. Greatest memory......well two actually, watching The Del Larks in NJ at the rehearsal for their first live performance. Mr Campbell nailed it BIG TIME and having lunch in Philly with Weldon, Jimmy Wisner, Billy Jackson, my good friend Dave Ferguson and our wives. We just sat back and listened to them reminisce about their exploits from back in the day. (They hadn't been in the same room for over 25 years). Three icons of Philly music hanging out with two Burnley lads. Who'd have thunk it eh? Now that was a REAL buzz!
  14. Without raking over old coals Mate, It's been tried before. It's hard not to be cynical when what you're proposing has been proposed before but it never comes off. The Rocket being a prime example. Best of luck with it. I'll certainly turn up at the first one if it's what you're actually planning. But whoe betide you if you don't deliver......I'll come back and tear you a new arsehole on here if you hoodwink me like the last lot did! The best DJs in the world play on Oxford Road, they've been doing it for over 25 years. If they can't fill a barn sized venue on a monthly basis what makes you think you can do it every week? You'll not be the first to think they have what it takes because they used to play before a large crowd of Northern Soul fans back in the day. Nor I suspect will you be the last. No disrespect intended, but you did ask?
  15. W.O.L. - Plain and simple. That's why rekkids come in sleeves - so you can get them autographed. I'm sure a few close friends will chew my balls for that opinion.
  16. Exactly! God preserve us from the Saviours of Soul! I think some people have got the lines between 'soul scource' and the 'soul scene' a little mixed up. THEY ARE NOT ONE AND THE SAME.
  17. Mad as a March hare. More holes in that plan than a quality swiss cheese. God loves an optimist though.
