  1. Martha Reeves also did a version of Hit and run but is no where near as good as the Rose Batiste version. Personally I have allways preferred the B side I miss my baby but the Bari track instrumental by Doni Burdick is the one that allways gets me up dancing. Another classic that i prefer the b side to more nowadays is the b side to Dena Barnes If you ever walk out of my life. Used to hate Who am I but now love it and is so right for todays scene.
  2. On a purely memorable note Lp wise my favorite and probably the commonest Lp ever was the Diana Ross and the supremes greatest hits Lp with the 3 big red lips on. At the time anyway it was the greatest thing to shag all night to with it playing in the background . The nearest anything has come near to it on a love making theme is the Tammi Terrell "Irresistable" Lp .Sheer class.
  3. Sorry , just looked back and theres lots of 20s mentioned but not the amount of tracks , just got a little confused.
  4. Kolla. It seems a little daft sticking to 20 tracks when there is more space left on the end of the cd (well the ones i am using are 80 minute) so it wont hurt to put on a few extra ones will it? Craig.
  5. Jason I have this 45 on a Burdette 455 white label PS 45 which i think i will include on my CD because it fits in the midtempo thing nicely, but was this released before or after the Jerden 45 and which is the rarer of the two. Craig.
  6. In my opinion from a musical point it was dreadful , like one of those re mastered cds . I remember recieving it through the post and really looked forward that night to watching it , put it on and was horrified , skipped through it bit by bit for the next few nights and then sold it. Not recommended.
  7. Tell you what Jamie bieng as you are one of the soul source fellow dart team members i will send you a copy of my CD free of charge , well almost free because i might take a trip to NCSC in Manchester in the next few months and you can buy me a beer if you are there. When i have completed this mid tempo masterpiece i will contact you and send you a copy. Craig.
  8. Hello Kolla , can see you are struggling a little to get the required amount so count me in. I know i said no to begin with but my lad has agreed to help me with the technical stuff and i could do with some new cds to listen to in my car , sick of hearing the same ones. Promise to take all my 20 tracks off 45s as well. Craig.
  9. Dont know about the best dancefloor but the worst i ever tried to dance on was above the Ship & rainbow pub in Wolverhampton in the late 70s with a few of my mates who were into northern soul and around 100 punk rockers who definatley were not into northern. The dancefloor was so sticky with beer and spilt substances it was impossible to dance properly and when the dj decided to do his northern session i decided to be brave and give it a go to an almost empty dancefloor and while in the middle of some decidedly tricky sticky moves one of the spikey haired anarchist bastards did a drop kick on my back sending me flying to the other end of the room. That was the last time i ever went there. Mind you im still doing my moves on the dancefloors today , what are the pogo dancing freakos up to now.
  10. Hello Mike. Dont know if this helps but an artist by the name of Stuart Smith had 2 releases in 1968 on UK Polydor but i dont know if its the same artist but more than likely is. 1. Polydor 56271 . Shes a woman now b/w Where did holly go. 2. Polydor 56336 . My head goes around b/w Where you are. This might give you something to go on. On the subject of Long John Baldry ever heard his version of Stop her on sight its absolute shite. Craig.
  11. How are you supposed to work that out or are you just covering yourself by saying this?
  12. Ill be looking back. Craig
  13. Go to page 2 of the Joey Delerenzo thread and read Dave Rimmers "essay" on milk and northern soul. That is probably the nearest in depth description of the different types and styles at the moment.
  14. Northern soul meets line dancing?
  15. Did Chris Jackson's "Since there's no doubt" ever get a release?
  16. On the re issue 45s it has " Soul City name & logo by kind permission of Dave Godin" on the label , thats one way of telling. Craig.
  17. I have a number of these soul city re issue 45s which i paid around a fiver each for which gives me a chance to own some great sounds on vinyl rather than paying riduculos amounts for originals which not all of us can justify paying. Not all of us are in that privelidged position.Look at it that way.

    GOSH

3 of Bettys songs can sum this up. 1.The Underbidder -" Almost". 2. The Seller- "I feel glad all over". 3. The winning bidder - "You'll wake up wiser". Craig.
  19. It went off the air suddenly a couple or 3 months ago , dont know if it had financial problems. Craig.
  20. This moderators job sounds like a doddle. How much do you pay an hour and where do i get a job application form for one. Craig.
  21. Pile of pooh or greatest thing ever , what do you think it would fetch if one of the known copies were put up for auction the way prices have escalated lately? Craig.
  22. Will wait and see if I get paid for it ok first and then if they agree with my grading but i am usually spot on. Ill probably use some of it for the deposit on next years Torquay weekender and pay my gas bill.
  23. Just finished at £433.00 so it was worth hanging on. Craig.
  24. Click on the bid history link , something has been going on here looks like some sort of bidding war and someone has bottled out. Look how many times the leading bidder has bid today.
  25. Eddie Lovette did a number of 45s on steady and UK London you might enjoy Too experienced available on both labels. I have an unissued album by him on UK London HAJ 8413 from 1970 (also released at the same time on London LGJZGB 103) also called Too experienced which also contains a few things you might enjoy if you can get your hands on one. Craig.
