  1. As some of you might know I do this for a living but have never seen anything like this in years of clearing houses , well not quite but close. This was fascinating and heres what someone who went to the estate sale today had to say! "I'm not an estate sale person, but this was 4 miles from my house, so I went this morning out of sheer curiosity. I got there at 7:45 and there was already a line down the sidewalk. They had a "sign-in" sheet going down the queue, and I was #65. There were quite a few people behind me. Once they opened, they pretty much just opened the door and let everyone in, boxes, carts, and all. Which made it pretty cramped as it's a small house. I have to say, for the most part, people are very polite for being smashed together like that. , I'm not estate sale knowledgeable, but here's my "tiki take" on it... freddie mentioned "Mid-Century Modern lamps". Those were gone in two seconds. All of them. Guy knew what he was looking for. Was that you freddie? From what I saw, there was a small stack of postcards, but nothing vintage Hawaiian or Tiki. Lots of decanters, for sure. But none Hawaiian. For as many decanters as there were, I was surprised that they didn't have swizzle sticks, or matchbooks, etc. Definitely a lot of glassware as you mentioned. There were tons of books, records, and old films on reels. However, they were being carted away by the box and cartload by book/record brokers. There's still a ton, but I just didn't have the time, or the elbow room, to go through them. >Malama Pono, Pua"
  2. Funnily enough I bought The Wally Cox "This Man" 45 off Ebay the other day on a Wand promo but had to laugh at how genuinley naive the seller was in his description and which just goes to prove there are still plenty of bargains out there to be had. 19. 2 more here that I cant see on the list the first from the 60's the second I have noticed for sale on Ebay which dates from the early 70's. Jer Jim Han 60's Black-Lady 70's
  20. Can't believe how much the price of the pound has dropped against the dollar . I went over to Detroit not too long ago and got over 2 dollars to the pound did some buying over there and got great value with the exchange rate. Slowed down a bit until recently and have started buying again now and I was really shocked tonight when I had an invoice for $160.00 off Ebay coming back as £107.00. I still had it in my brain that I just halved what I paid. I know about the credit crunch whatever but did not exect this. Dont know what the exchange rate is at the moment but this has got to be affecting prices drastically. Any thoughts.
  21. Thanks for the kind offer Pete but have just done a buy it now and sold it to a Japanese buyer for 220 who has paid me straight away with Paypal so no problems now apart from getting it to him Have been on the Pama site and blocked loads of mexican bidders so hopefully no problems in future. Thanks for everyones advice on this.
  22. No. The (last second) winning bid was for £310.00 from a French bidder with a private feedback of 2 who is apparently based in Mexico. The underbidder of £300.00 is another Mexican with a perfect feedback of 18 who has actually won and got feedback for some decent money items. I have offered it to him with a second chance offer but I'm not holding my breath. Beyond that the rest of the bidders are retards. I'll probably end up relisting it with a buy it now.
  23. Yes I am well aware of the Mexican bidder problem but what I am saying that the buyers location is stated as France and someone has contacted me and said some accounts have been hijacked by the Mexican buyers.
  24. Can anyone give any advice on this problem with Mexican bidders on reggae at the moment that are ruining auctions on Ebay. I sold a big money reggae 45 last night to a buyer from France only to be warned tonight by a message from another Ebay member the same bidder is bidding on another reggae 45 I'm selling that finishes tomorrow and to cancel this buyers bids as other buyers accounts have been hijacked by a buyer of the same name who is based in Mexico not France. Has anyone else come across this problem?
  25. Sarah Vaughan and Volumes on hold. Come on the rest are cheap enough
