  1. I've got this Lp somewhere and if no one else lets you know in the meantime I'll dig it out and put a soundfile up as well. I think its called 100% tailored for soul or along those lines if I remember.
  2. Just looked Tony and its got I dont wanna cry on the flip .
  3. Jimmy James released this on US HBR in 1966.I picked this up off Ebay for $2.00 Great tune.
  4. I think this is Ray Pollard Mandy. If you come to the 44 on Friday ask me nicely and I may play this for you.
  5. Dont really know how you define deep soul but as for Colins first suggestion of Eddie Holman flip this over and listen to the superb I'll cry 1000 tears. As good as a double sided gut wrencher gets. I think I read somewhere once that Eddie sings this with such feeling it leaves you in a physical emotional state after listening to it! But for me it has to be Roy Hamilton - Reach out for me , if there is a better soul record than this I have yet to hear it.
  6. Strange you should say that Dawn as my wife Dawn's all time 3 male favourites are 1. Lonely for you baby - Sam Dees 2. I'd think it over twice - Sam Fletcher. 3. I'll rescue you - Flash Mckinley. Female are 1. If you ever walk out of my life - Dena Barnes. 2. Just loving you - Ruby Andrews. 3. Im coming home - September Jones.
  7. I've just posted 3 female tracks up in the sounds section and I have to admit the female soul vocals do it for me all the time ahead of the male. I dont know what it is but the female recordings just have that little bit extra over the male soul wise. You just can't beat a good girly track in my humble opinion the ultimate one bieng Got to have your love by The Sapphires or Set my heart at ease by Mikki Farrow. Soul heaven. What do you prefer male or female and what is the ultimate male or female track.
  8. The only ones interested in them in 30 or 40 years time will be those who inherit them , and their only interest is how much they will get for them if anything. They wont be kept for sentimental reasons either , believe me.
  9. I've just come across this usefull site for label / Artists listings which is mainly on the 70s side but there is quite a lot of 60s material listed. Most of you may have seen the site before but well worth a look. Click on the corresponding letter to bring all related labels. Click on Ohio artists on non - Ohio and national labels to bring up the artists. Click on the little dot at the end of each listing to bring up a label scan. https://www.ohiosoulrecordings.com/a.htm
  10. Oxford Nights - I'm such a lonely one. Absolute rubbish over-rated white pop pap.
  11. Just sorting through a few 45s and played this and my missus reckons she loves it. Im not so sure myself but its still a nice instrumental for a Saturday afternoon. What do you think?
  12. Here are a couple of soundclips. Make your own minds up on these efforts. https://www.arch-records.com/sound/FPOP49CD2.ram https://www.arch-records.com/sound/FPOP49CD.ram
  13. Ive still got the Record collector magazine that Pete wrote the piece for in 1997. For anyone thats interested here are the label listings that accompanied the article. Have prices changed much in 8 years?
  14. Seriouslly now here are 3 contenders. OOTF - Dobie Gray Love Love Love - Bobby Hebb The Right Track - Billy Butler.
  15. Ski-ing in the snow - Wigans Ovation or Footsee - Wigans Chosen Few Pure class
  16. Depends on what you want to listen to , if its vinyl and Jimmy at his very best I would recommend the Ruff 'n ' Ready Lp from 1969.Great album cover as well.
  17. 3 nice bits from a box of around 200 mainly shite US 45s off Ebay I recieved today. Kept about 20 the rest are going back on Ebay. Just go for me - The Groovers - Minit. Stop and listen - Patti Drew - Capitol. You're something else - Chris Calloway - Cub.
  18. If Ebays anything to go by , yes prices are down. Go on completed items and look. Very hit or miss . Has been for a while now.
  19. Love. Gladys Greensleeve. I think that was her real second name.
  20. Would go lovely in your nice green sleeve
  21. No , nearly every one was in a proper company sleeve , a few in picture sleeves and few more in brown paper sleeves. Why? what did you have
  22. A couple of weeks ago I noticed a US seller seemed to be selling a nice mixture of of his own 100 x 60s and early 70s pop 45s with a buy it now price of $68.00 for some strange reason. I contacted him with the ask buyer question and asked if he had any soul 45s to which he replied yes use the buy it now and I will swap what is on there for entirely soul 45s , which I did which came to just over $100.00 with shipping. They arrived today and while there appears to be nothing I dont know apart from maybe Frankie Beverly's Raw Soul - While I'm alone on Gregar which is growing on me the more I hear it , what struck me was every one was in mint unplayed condition in the original company sleeve some of them picture sleeves. Nothing rare but all in time warp condition with that lovely unplayed smell which was worth the price alone. Buying job lots off Ebay seems to be hit or miss but what have you scored or lost big time on , on the whole I cant complain .
  23. The point I'm making Brett is that I have a lot of soul records that I have sitting in big boxes in an upstairs bedroom that I will longer listen to for one reason or another because as you get older your tastes change with time. I am not contemplating selling the bulk of my collection far from it ,and will be adding to it but just bieng a little more selective and will just be weeding out the ones I dont want and getting a half decent price for them while I still can and someone else may have a little pleasure , rather than giving them away in 20 or so years time because no one wants them.
