  1. The demo release has Whats so good to you on the flip and sound quality is superb.
  2. And I've just answered you question in there
  3. Can anyone name any of the tunes featured on tonight's episode. Heres one for starters. Touch me, kiss me , hold me, - The Inspirations.
  4. I dont know if anyone has mentioned this programme before but a new series begins tonight on CH4 at 10 pm. Its a comedy drama set in a hospital revolving around 4 nurses and each situation ends in a small clip of a classic / nothern soul / motown record relating to this. I watched an old episode last week and really enjoyed it. Heres a sample list of the CD taken from the second series. Great stuff As Channel 4's hospital-based drama No Angels returns for a 2nd series, the soundtrack features classic Motown moments from the likes of Gladys Knight and The Pips, Barbara McNair, a classic duet from Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, the queen of soul Aretha Franklin and Betty Wright among others, all of which perfectly complement the shows plot to good effect. Tracklisting 1. Shoorah! Shoorah! - Betty Wright 2. Take Me In Your Arms And Love Me - Gladys Knight & The Pips 3. Second That Emotion - Barbara Mcnair 4. Can I Get A Witness - Barbara Randolph 5. In The Basement - Etta James 6. Show Me - Patti Drew 7. Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing Baby - Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell 8. Can't Let You Go Sugar - Pie De Santo 9. Nothing But A Heartache - The Flirtations 10. Girls Are Out To Get You - Fascinations 11. End Of Our Love - Nancy Wilson 12. I Had A Talk With My Man - Mitty Collier 13. Good Time Tonight - The Soul Sisters 14. Everybody's Going To The Love Inn - Bob Brady & The Concordes 15. Clean Up Woman - Betty Wright 16. Have A Little Mercy - Ann Sexton 17. I Never Loved A Man - Aretha Franklin 18. Save Me - Nina Simone 19. Everything Is Gonna Be Alright - P.P. Arnold
  5. I sold a slightly warped Decca issue on ebay recently for well over £200.00.I have to admit I nearly kept it as its a superb sound but I'm not so sure how it would go down at a soul venue. There is a fothcoming re -issue to be released shortly. https://cgi.ebay.com/MANNY-CORCHADO-POW-POW...1QQcmdZViewItem
  6. Free admission this month to all Soul Source members!
  7. I've got I dont want to talk about it by Nancy Ames on a South African tri centre.Cant think of the label but I know its orange coloured.
  8. I think this may have been Brett Franklin, although I may be wrong , think he goes under the username Brett but thats as much as I can tell you because I have never met him and I have no idea what he looks like
  9. It does'nt look like its been dealt with to me in fact its just got worse IMO.
  10. I allways have a request when modern and disco is played. Can I request they stop playing it
  11. Two members have been having a personal go at Pete Smith in the 44 club thread about music policy which does not reflect the clubs playlist at all plus they have never attended the event but if they want to give their opinions that is the wrong place. If you want to have a moan about what should and should not be played at soul nights and what does not really belong have a go here and keep it out of the event section and dont make it personal.
  12. Two I've played out lately Kiss me now and dont kiss me later - Florence Devore - Phil Dan . I think the last time I heard this played was about 30 years ago at the local youth club but it still sounded great. And one I allways love playing Theresa Lindsey- Daddy 0 - Golden World. Sounds better today than ever.
  13. Heres the top 500 list. https://www.soul-source.co.uk/modules/smartsection/item.php?itemid=12177
  14. This sites worth a look for high quaility obscure label scans. https://www.georgiasoul.com/gasoul/gallery.html Also click on home and look at the massive label listings section.
  15. "susan maughan i believe not 3 bad" Yes but not a patch on the Wade Flemons version. Sorry but my "Reply" button's not working for some reason.
  16. Another bit of British blue eyed soul I've had on the old record deck today. That Other Place.mp3
  17. A nice little bit of British blue eyed soul. I think its OK anyway! Everythingitouch.mp3
  18. Agree with you Colin great voice. Have allways loved Derek Martins stuff since I heard Daddy Rolling Stone years ago. Was'nt it featured in the Ray Winstone film Sexy Beast. I love Moving hands of time which is on the flip of You blew it baby on the Buttercup label.Arranged & produced by Teddy Randazzo ,its really underrated ,costs peanuts and builds and builds into a terric tune. Another thing about it is it's around four and a half minutes long which is most unusual for a 45! Movinghands.mp3
  19. Hey Nico. I remember when Never gonna give you up was a big sound there was some kind of rumour going around that it was not Rick Astley doing the vocals but some black guy with a decent voice.Apparently Rick Astley couldnt sing a note but could mime very well. Any truth in these rumours?
  20. Is it Dick Ghastley by any chance?
  21. Do you still care for me by Richard Popcorn Wylie has a bit of world class whistling in it.Great record though
  22. Have put Deep shadows and Lean lanky daddy in the sounds section in choice cuts
  23. Number 1 version for me . Anything Little Ann did was awesome and she posessed one of the greatest female soul voices. There are a couple of absolutley amazing tracks by her on Dave Hamiltons Detroit Dancers Cd ., the one, Deep Shadows is a real gut wrencher the other Lean lanky daddy is a great uptemo effort . I can put a couple of soundclips up if anyones interested
  24. I had Brand new man , Greater than anything , Come to me and Do you still care for me on 4 Epic demos off Ebay some time ago but ditched the first three because they were basically shite but kept Do you still care for me which is superb IMO.
